I'm dying here...someone give me a link for the love of god!

Can someone post a working link for me?

I think Kopecky left Detroti for two reasons. First, his lover Hossa was leaving and second, because the Hawks offered him way more money then Detroit ever would have. I don't think he left the Wings to get more ice time. That being said, I remember reading an article about the Wings sometime last season, or maybe even 2008, that was talking about how the Wings felt that they had a chance to groom Kopecky into Holmstrom heir. I think they realized his offence was limited but he had some size and agility and that they could mold him into a similar style player to that of Tomas Holmstrom. It's just funny that this was brought back up now.

It's unreal. WHen he gets a couple of points he has a bit more motivation but when he goes pointless he figures it's not worth the effort to not get a point. He's alwasya been pretty soft but the last couple games have been extremely soft. He gets the puck stolen off of him every two seconds. He's the one they need to send a message to right now

Last couple games Williams has looked slow and weak on the puck. I couldnt agree with you more right now

Andy Strickland: "Wings and 'Hawks lead Forsberg race"

dude, you need to relax. You made a comment that implied the rivalry was alive today. I simply disagreed. Now you're grasping at insults because you have nothing left to say for your side of the argument. You can try and convince ppl who are reading this thread that I didn't understand your original post all you want but based on my posts it's obvious not only did I know what was going on but I was also proving your ignorance. Either way, it's no big deal bud. You should take it easy and not take things so personally. I just happened to disagree with your post. You're a big boy, apparently, so hopefully you get over it. -

Wow, talk about slow. I understood from the beginning that you were saying that the rivalry is stronger now than when Forsberg made his comments. Have you not read a word I wrote? Everything I have said in response to your posts was based on the fact I understood you meant the rivalry is stronger now than it was when the Forsberg comment was made. Do you have any idea how stupid you sound when you look down your nose at ppl and try to come across all smart when in fact you're the one not understanding what is happening? -

Wow, talk about taking things too personally. Besides, take a look at what you wrote. Saying the rivalry is 'more fierce' today than it was 30 months ago implies it's going strong today. You're jsut trying to back track now. Saying it is fierce in your first message and now saying you never said it was alive and well is completely contradictory. I know I tend to use the word fierce when describing dead rivalries. -

Just because Colorado is playing well right now and have beaten the Wings twice this season doesn't mean the rivarly is alive and strong. The rivalry all but died with all the major stars of those battles being gone. Adam Foote, Tomas Holmstrom, Kris Draper, Kirk Maltby, Nicklas Lidstrom, amd Chris Osgood are the only players still with their respective teams from the hayday of the rivalry. In my opinion the rivalry all but died last season with the uninspired match ups and especially with the retirement of Joe Sakic. Bring back Valeri Kamensky, Claude Lemieux, Sandis Ozolinsh and Adam Deadmarsh and I'll believe you when you say the rivalry is alive -

Obviously I sincerely doubt this would happen. Although, in terms of Forsberg saying he wouldnt sign in Detroit out of respect for the rivalry I think that is well in the passed. The rivalry basically doesnt exist anymore. I do have to admit I have always wanted Forsberg in a way on the Wings and even though he is shell of his former self the nostalgic sense in me would still want him. It would all depend on money etc. I always thought he'd look good on the Wings. That being said, it's hockeybuzz and that should tell us that basiaclly means it's impossible for it to happen anyway -
That depends on the league's definition of 'Automatic'
mmamolo replied to PotbellyJoe's topic in General
This quote hits the nail on the head. A rule is a rule no matter who commits the infraction. The problem with officiating in the NHL (suspensions and discipline included) has and will always be consistency. Consistency for all players and consistency throughout the course of a game. I cant tell you how many times I'd see an interference call not made on a defenseman for obstructing a forechecknig forward entering the zone in the first two periods only to be made in the third with 10 minutes to go in a one goal game. Consistency is the key and the NHL has none -

Personally at the time I felt as though the league was playing favourites with Malkin. Now I'm well over it. The problem lies within the wording of the rule. If the sole purpose of the rule is to negate 'goons' from sending a message at the end of the game then that's all fine and good. However the way the rule is stated, and if you read in between the lines, it's to stop anyone from sending a message at the end of a game by instigating a fight. That being said, at times motivations for your actions don't matter. Whether you believe Malkin was tryign to send a message to Zetterberg or not the fact is he was given an instigator penalty by the referee. It doesnt make sense to give the referee the discretion to make the call only to reverse it later because Campbell deems it unfit to qualify for the rule. For me a rule is a rule and should be enforced whether your name is Pavel Datsyuk or Chris Simon. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind Malkin all but forced Zetterberg to fight in that situation and was appropriately given an instigator penalty. It should have been enforced. On top of that, for anyone to say that says the non suspension didn't play a factor into the series is ill informed. Malkin came back with 3 assists in game 3 including setting up the Gonchar winning goal. Sad fact is there are different rules for different ppl. I can accept that but that doesn't mean I wont question things when they happen. Conspiracy theories aside. -
It's amazing that as ridiculous the statements Carman makes that ppl dont at least have an inkling that he's just trying to get under their skin. THat being said, if he really wanted to f*** with ppl he/she should make the comments a little more realistic. Throwing Crosby in as a comparison was good because everyone here hates him but throwing Richards in just made it too outlandish to believe. Maybe another Wing killer would have been good like Ryan Getzlaf. Hell, he could have said Max Talbot because of what he did in the finals and it would have had a better chance of being beleived. Or at least really pissing everyone off

That fight is definitely hilarious. I think the thing about the Caps cap situation, when compared with the Pens as someone above mentioned, is that as good as Semin and Backstrom are I dont think either will see the type of money Crosby, Malkin or Ovechkin got. So at the end of the day the caps wont be spending way more on Ovechkin, Semin and Backstrom compared to pitts on Crosby and Ovechkin.
-
SHould we go after him: really depends on the money. I think he's still very good and would fit nicely but it's always about money in this league now Will we go after him: I sincerely doubt it. Both Howard and Osgood are under contract for next season. If Howard isn't goign to be here next year I'd imagine he'd be replaced at the deadline

No one is arguing about who is the best all around player or who deserves Conn Smyth trophies etc. This topic is based on who, if anyone, could score 50 goals in 50 games. Clearly Ovechkin has the best shot. For you to say that the only guys who have a real shot are guys like Crosby and Richards is absolutely mind boggling to me. Does Ovechkin play recklessly? At times, sure. Is he dirty? I wouldn't say so. Is he a lucky guy? Yeah sure. Is the only reason he scores goals because of luck? Absolutely not. EIther you're just talking s*** to get ppl riled up or you absolutely have zero clue as to what you're talking about. I'm hoping for your sake you're screwing with ppl.
