    Luongo Out

He better not be out long term. My pools have already taken serious injury beatings with the long term losses of Franzen and Markov. If Luongo is out long term I may as well stop checking my pool standings.

Hudler's ripping it up over there!

Wow, so your big come back is that I'm too lazy to proofread my posts. I'm impressed. The sad thing is if I actually cared I could just start proofreading but you'll always be a bigot. We may all be Wings fans but this piece of s*** is a racist and I don't have time for scum like that.

    Nathan Horton...a trade option?

Horton I just read this rumour article that Florida may be shopping Nathan Horton. Obviously with Franzen out he may be able to shoulder some of the loss of offence. Obviously it seems our D needs more help than our forwards but we aren't exactly scoring much either. I just wanted to get ppl's thoughts on if this would be advantageous or not. Also, to point out Detroit hasnt been rumoured to be in trade talks or anything. I just saw Horton may be on the block and thought he may fit in well.

Hudler's ripping it up over there!

If pointing out the obvious is reiterating the fact that you're a bigot then I'll gladly to it over and over and over again until everyone in this forums sees what a piece of s*** you are. That being said, you can throw all the pathetic insults my way you want because it has no affect on me other than further proving my point that you're essentially the lowest form of scum out there. Plus, at least I've stated the obvious and made relevant and accurate points while you've done nothing but spit out inaccurate hockey knowledge and racists bulls***. Please, continue to show everyone here that you should be banned and ignored.

Flyers captain Richards won't talk to media...

I dont particularly find her face very attractive but am I the only one here that would definitely get a picture with a huge porn star with massive juggs like that? I think it would be hilarious and I would definitely do it whether I was a pro athlete or not. I dont know why everyone is makign a big deal about some Flyers players being at a bar and taking a few photos with a porn star. I dont think Richards should have completely blocked the media but I can see why he's so pissed.

Hudler's ripping it up over there!

So you can dish out racist bulls*** but you can't handle someone calling you on it. Last time I checked forum threads are for members to comment on the topic at hand, which I did. When you post a reply anyone looking through the forum has the right to comment on it. If you can't handle it, that's your problem bud. And, ya you're right, I did thoroughly enjoy injecting my dislike for your ignorance. Regardless if this thread 'has anything to do with me' or not, you're an ignorant racist.

Hudler's ripping it up over there!

Talk about one of the most ignorant statements I've read on this forum. First of all he put up those numbers while making about a million bucks. Second, two year 5.75M equals 2.875M/yr and his numbers have continuously increased year by year so there is no reason not to think it's possible that his numbers woudl have gone up this year again. On top of that with Hossa gone his ice time would have clearly increased, as well as with the Franzen injury. Not only is your hockey sense argument terrible but you have to resort to racist, ignorant comments because you have nothing else.
  8. I started this thread and in all honesty I really like the Hawks. I was really happy with their resurgence last season and want them to continue to be a contender. I made this thread, looking at the cap situations for both teams, because they are my two favourite teams in the leagueand both are entering summers with very interesting cap scenarios . I've been a Wings fan since I was five but as a second favourite I've always liked the Hawks.
  9. In some ways I really don't mind seeing Draper get some third line minutes. I think last year's production is a little midleading. I still believe he can be an effective third line cnetre in this league. I think the fact the Wings were so stacked up front last season, and Zetterberg and Datsyuk were split which only furhtered the depth down the middle, pushed Draper down the depth chart and his numbers suffered. He still has great speed, wins draws, plays effectively at both ends of the ice and matching him with Cleary and Bertuzzi cuold work out as they'll crash the net and create soem space out there. Even though at first glance I didn't particularly like this line the more I think about it the more I think it makes sense. Draper has never been a highly skilled forward. He gets his points by crashing the net and getting those junk goals. Matchign Draper with Bertuzzi and Cleary, who crash the net hard and work the puck down low, could be just the right match up. It is still weird seeing Williams on the second line but let's give credit where credit is due. The line of Leino - Filppula - Williams has done very well and deserves the opportunity. Williams has 5 points through 7 games (granted some are from playing the point on the PP) and deserves the ice time he'll get tonight.
  10. Oh I definitely agree. I wasn't implying Detroit was in bad shape. If anythign I showed both to show how much better of a situation the Wings are in compared to the Hawks. I really think the Wings could resign everyone they want from their current roster and still have a good chunk of money left over to spend if they wanted. WHere as the Hawks aren't goign to be able to resign their big 3.

What's the Story Behind This Incident?

"The Hasek experiment didn't nearly go as well the second time around. He was limited to 14 games the entire season because of lingering groin problems and never could get completely healthy. Then, one afternoon in January, after practice had ended, Hasek skated out to the ice to presumably test his groin. What was odd was the fact that some of the players seemed to be aiming shots high, at Hasek's head. It seemed they were trying to hurt him, rather than helping him back into the lineup. Evidently, the Wings already knew. Hasek was about to call it a season." That may be the dumbest thing I have ever read. Not only does the author claim to know what the players were thinking but he shows absolutely zero proof of such a claim. Typically when you are warming up a goaltender you shoot the puck at his pads so he gets a feel for the puck. A lot of times when goaltenders are coming off of groin injuries plaeyrs are instructed to shoo the puck higher during warm ups so that the goaltender doesnt tweak his groin. Not only that, but to claim that players are shooting the puck high in an attempt to hurt a goalie is ridiculous. WIth the equipment and skill level of these goalies shooting the puck high isn't going to do anything. That entire paragraph is a joke and in itself will stop me from ever reading that book. The paragrpah reads like it was written by an author who is not only clueless when it comes to hockey but when it comes to logic and journalism.

    Kessel for Elias?

If it were me I'd probably make the move. Elias, in NJ, is a lock to put up some solid numbers with Parise while Kessel will take time to adjust and really won't have a ton of help in Toronto. I live in the Toronto area and trust me, Kessel is going to have an insanely hard time living up to all this hype. He'll be a good player for the Leafs but I'd be really surprised if it's a seemless transition. The guy is coming off a long injury, adjusting to a new city and surroundings, adjusting to new players and entering a winless team (at the moment). To me Elias is just the safer play. If things work out in Kessel's favour then you could hit it big but you know what you're getting with Elias and that's how I'd play it.

    Cap May Go Up

I see what you're saying but I cant imagine not having 13 forwards. EIther way, they should have some cash available but that also means a full spot to Eaves. It's tough to say at this point but I see where you're coming from. I wasnt trying t oshoot down your argument. I was just trying to see where you came up with the numbers

    Cap May Go Up

I'm not really sure how you worked it out that we'd have $5-6M to spend on a FA but I'll make my best guess below. Assuming the cap stays at $56.8M we would have $16.095M left. The way I'd see it is we'd have something like this to look forward too. Signed Players: Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Filppula, Cleary, Draper, Leino, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart, Ericsson, Osgood, Howard TOTAL $40.704M That means as we would need 6 forwards and 3 defencemen. If we were to bring up Kindl at $.883M, resign Lidstrom for cheap at $4.5M and resign Lilja at his same deal of $1.25 we would now have $47.333M. That would leave us with $9.467M to spend on the remaining forwards. If we resigned Helm ($1M), ABdelkader to his same deal ($.85), Eaves to his same deal ($.5M) we'd have $7.117M left. Personally I figure that both Holmstrom and Maltby will want to be back. I can see Maltby taking the league min of $.5M and Holmstrom at $1.5M and that would leave us with $5.117M with one forward position left. That means saying goodbye to Bertuzzi and Williams. We could resign May at $.5M and then have $4.617 for a UFA. However, at that point we'd end up with 14 forwards, 7 defencemen and 2 goalies, which isn't allowed. Obviously, that roster doesnt make a whole lot of sense given the mix of bottom 6 forwards but the cash would be there. The roster at that point would look like (ignore line combos, just listed to show who's on the roster): Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Leino - Filppula - Franzen Eaves - Abdelkader - Cleary Draper - Helm - Maltby May Lidstrom - Rafalski Stuart - Kronwall Ericsson - Lilja Kindl Osgood Howard It should be noted that some of those contract numbers I used were definitely low. Persoanlyl I see LIdstrom resigning at around $5.5M and some of the other guys getting little raises here and there. I'd say it's probably a little more like that we'd have $3-4M to sign a UFA as opposed to $5-6M.

    Tomas Holmstrom and more

The Holstrom bashing is getting absolutely ridiculous. It's funny how before the season started we had all these haters on this forum saying Holmstrom should be on the fourth line or only get PP time or shouldnt even be on the team and look at him now. It's the same with Maltby. Most ppl here wanted to toss him aside as well. Obivously no one would have really predicted that those two would have the starts they have had but when I was saying they both deserved and could play for spots on this team ppl laughed. It blows me away that a lot of ppl here can't acknowledge that they were wrong (at least so far) about Holmstrom. It was obvious he was injured in the post season and anyone who thinks he is completely done is a fool. With these two keep up this pace? Obviously not. But how about some loyalty. How about giving guys a chance to play and get on stride? How about everyone who shoots their mouth off in the preseason owns up to their wrong opinions. Personally, I hated the Jason Williams signing. I thought he would put up decent numbers but wouldn't buy into our system and be a defensive liability. So far I was wrong about that. He has played hard, been defensively responsible and put up very solid numbers. It's not so hard to admit. maybe some other ppl on this forum should try it.

Jason Williams thoughts up until now

I'm not really a huge fan of having forwards on the point on the PP, even if it's Malken or Ovechkin, but I have to admit that Williams relly looks comfortable back there so far and he's been pretty dangerous. Every game that I've watched I can hoenstly say there has been at least one occassion where I was happy with his PP play and he got off a dangerous shot or two. So far I think we all should be pretty happy with the Williams and Bertuzzi signings. Bertuzzi has been dangerous and it's only a matter of time until he puts some poitns up.

Osgood has been sick tonight. Other than that one terrible shot Bertuzzi has looked solid offensively. He's been strong defensively again. Zetterberg gets on the board with a goal to help LIdstrom out for his 1000th pt. Finally our special teams are looking good. Both the pk and the pp.
