Holmstrom from Lidstrom and Rafalski Team leader in points is Holmstrom. Just pointing that out to all the Holmstrom haters on this forum. Also, monster stop by Osgood

It'd be nice if the Wings learned how to clear the puck out of the defensive zone. How did we turn into a massive turnover machine? And since when can we not dominate the faceoff circle?
-
Personally i dont know if Brunnstrom really makes us any better but someone made a good point about being able to move either Lebda or Meech and it not really hurting our defensive depth too much if Lilja returned and if Delmore and/or Kindl got some games in. Problem is, no way does Dallas move Brunnstrom for such a small return.

It's written as month/day/year because if you were to write it out that's how you'd do it. Today is October 9, 2009. That's the logic. However, it is funny to see in some novels and text that dates are written as day/month/year. For example, 9 October 2009. Either way, most often to not you can make sense of it

First of all you should know Meech would be next in line. The Wings dont have the cap space to bring Kindl up nor is he ready. The kid, although i think will be very good one day, still has trouble with turning the puck over int he AHL. He'd get whipped right now. Let him progress and see where he is at later in the year. Second, the Wings never start off well. Every year the Wings have a bit of a rough first 5-8 games. They come out of the gate slowly in the season just as they do in games. I cant understand some of the assanine comments made in this thread. This isnt directed at the quoted post but some of the other posts in this thread are mind boggling. It seems like a lot of ppl on this forum have little to no understanding of hockey, the cap, or realistic expectations given certain situations.

I think you have to play the hot hand. Right now Maltby looks great so he should stay int he lineup. The way i see it happening is that unfortunately May will probably be sent down that way once he clears waivers he can be recalled throughout the year. Helm will get reinserted into the lineup. Then Maltby will get rested while Eaves gets some games in. Really, I think the Wings would be well served to give Maltby and Draper some games off when/if they can throughout the year. A floating rotation of Eaves/May/Draper/Maltby would be good in my mind with Helm as the staple of the 4th line. This would work assuming that both Eaves and May are sent down to GR at some point and both clear waivers.

I'm surprised you don't see more NHLers, goalies especially, who are picky about their equipment. I know when I played I cuoldnt stand getting new stuff unless it was a helmet or something that didnt matter in terms of comfort

For me the biggest thing seems to be his attitude, both off the ice in things I've read and how he carries himself on the ice. I really believe he has matured as a player since his last tenure with the Wings. He seems more team oriented and as though he has bought into the system thus far. I remember kind of a snotty player that thought he was going to turn into a 100 pt player the last time JW was in Detroit and now I see a very strong role player who understands his limits and has been using his strengths as best he can. He'll get his points and anchor our second PP unit and I think he's content with that. So far I've been impressed with his play and attitude as i wasn't sure what we were going to get when we signed him.

I dont know if we're talking about the same thing. I'm talking about Holmstrom snap shooting the puck from before the red line and it wrapped around the boards and it got touched up for icing before Datsyuk got to it. Whether he missed a pass before that or not I'm simply saying that wrap around dump was a set play that the timing just didnt work out. Im not making excuses for any f***ed up pass. Im only saying that he didnt f*** up the wrap around dump in.
-
First of all the most important area of the ice is in front of your net. Second, Datsyuk was a step behind getting in the zone. I think it's a dumb play but it's clear it was a set play. If ppl werent so biased against Holmstrom then maybe I could take the criticism a little more seriously. We were talking about the slap shot icing.

Is it me or do the wings get kicked out of like 80% of faceoffs?! f***, the Wings are blocking shots like the old Dallas Stars succesful playoff teams, f*** me Stuart is a beast tonight.
-
Not holmstrom's fault. It was a planned play that didnt work out.

monster block by kronwall

great, another penalty

why all of a sudden last year did we forget how to clear the zone. The Wings used to be one of the best defensive teams in this regard. Now all we do is turn the puck over. How about off the boards and out and none of this up the middle bulls***. It's really frustrating to watch that s***
