Semin signs one year, $7m deal with Carolina

I've never read a positive post written by him. We can win the Stanley Cup next year, and he'll complain that we should've swept the opposition to get it. Then, he'd point that out as a sign that we're gonna be less competitive in years to come, because we didn't sweep our way to the Cup.

Holland should've gave both Parise and Suter 13-year contracts worth over $100 million each? No, thanks. There comes a point when you have to take a step back and think about what you're doing. Neither Suter or Parise will live up to those contracts. They were the beneficiaries of a weak free agent pool. Both those contracts will be biting Minnesota in the ass in about 3 years, if not earlier. This coming from a fan who is extremely critical of Ken.

    Jakub Voracek Re-signs with Philadelphia

4-year deal worth $4.2 million per year, according to TSN. He's only 22, and will likely get some powerplay time this year, considering Jagr is gone.

We can't go into the season with this roster. When you've got this much cap space, and the UFA pool is down to nothing for legit top 6 forwards, a ballsy move needs to take place. Offer sheet Jamie Benn. Seriously, what do we have to lose? Who cares if its a d-bag move, its not like we ever trade with Dallas anyway. When you're in a situation like this, you should care less about stepping on people's toes and do whatever it takes to get your team to be able to compete for Lord Stanley.
  6. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Mark Fistric Re-signs with Dallas

A 1-year, $1.475 million deal to avoid arbitration, per TSN. Not a bad deal for one of the better shutdown defensemen in the NHL.

Which is exactly why I'm happy he didn't come here.

$7 million for Alexander Semin I knew he wouldn't be taking 5 mil or any of the other lower figures being thrown around. The fact that teams seemed to be shying away from him should speak volumes about his character. On the other hand, the well is really beginning to run dry.

    Dale Weise Re-signs with Vancouver

Can't post the Youtube vid on mobile, but it'll be one of the first vids that shows up when you type in his name.

Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

Because he ditched the visor years ago.

Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

There are plenty of guys in the league that wear visors, and fight. I respect guys that take off the shield before they fight. Guys that fight with it on every single time are annoying. If you're gonna run around, you better be ready to answer the bell.

    Dale Weise Re-signs with Vancouver

4th liner. Typical Vancouver Canuck. Runs around, but when push comes to shove, runs away from the battle. Pulled off the most shameful move I've seen in the NHL in a while last year. Goaded Thornton into a fight, then just skated away like he had no clue why Thornton dropped his gloves.

Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

He's gonna finish every single check, too. I used to absolutely despise him, given all the antics he used to pull, then hide behind a visor. He's become a player that will still raise hell like he used to, just without the cheap antics.
  14. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Kris Versteeg Re-signs with Florida

    4-year deal worth $4.4 million/year. Scored a career-high 54 points last year. 5 points in 7 playoff games.

I think he may get more of an opportunity in Calgary. He's not a first pairing defenseman, but it's not like he isn't capable of playing at the NHL level.

    Post of the day.

    Semin

He'll play on the 4th line. He really needs to improve his skating.
  19. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Semin

Whether people like him or not, he's gonna play under Randy Carlyle this season.

I feel he's pretty reliable in his own zone. He's not gonna make any risky pinches at his blue line or anything. Clears the crease. Blocks shots. Not that it's completely indicative of his defensive prowess, but he was a +3 with San Jose last year. I feel like he's a bit quicker than Commodore. In addition, he is capable of playing forward. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Commodore seemed to take being the 7th defenseman last year.

Jurcina has never really impressed me. He'll throw a big hit once in a while but he is not consistently physical.

*Jim Vandermeer-UFA *Scott Hannan-UFA *John Erskine- 7th/8th defenseman in Washington. With young D like Orlov rising up in the ranks, I feel like if we came knocking at the door for a trade, they'd deal him for a prospect or a pick. *Steve Montador- Its been reported numerous times that Chicago has more than enough depth on D and Montador seems to be the odd man out. Again, I think a prospect or a pick can get a deal done.
  23. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Semin

No, I meant the only Orr that matters, Colton
  24. Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Realistically speaking, we'll look something like this next year: Benn-Datsyuk-Eriksson Alfredsson-E.Staal-Selanne Neil-Helm-Upshall McGrattan-Chipchura-Tootoo Orr/Miller Kronwall-Doughty Jovanovski-Giordano Erskine-McQuaid Vandermeer Problem?

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Commodore back, but there are about 5 bottom-pairing defensemen that are available that I'd rather take over him. How do you feel about Mike Komisarek? A buddy of mine mentioned that he could be dealt.
