Not sure if this has been mentioned, but does anyone else find it funny that Buffalo decided to buy him out instead of trading him....? They could have traded him for ANYTHING and gotten ANYTHING in return (and the Red Wings were interested so that route was available. Other teams were probably interested as well). But, no, they bought him out and get nothing back.....
-
Yeah these jerseys are simply too busy. Don't like them.
-
How do you figure? I like that. I don't want them to impatiently throw money at a guy who is breaking down (Bertuzzi). Let's take care of the right now, and we'll talk to you (Alfie) later.

Hartnell to Columbus for Umberger + 4th in 2015

Lol, I thought Paul Holmgren wasn't their GM anymore? Makings moves for the sake of making moves. They can't keep still...ever..... -
Glen Sather is a bad GM. Lundqvist's performance makes them think they are a lot closer than they are, hence, Sather is safe.
-
If I remember correctly, Byslma does not like Babcock.

Great post. Everything is class. The way they treat people, the way they carry themselves, everything.
-
I was gonna say this. He would probably be doing HIMSELF a favor to stay in LA. They need the scoring (I guess because Dustin Brown and Mike Richards suck now at scoring?) and he has fit in pretty well.
-
Aside from all of the other true head scratchers of this "roster", a soon-to-be-and-declining 42 year old Marty Brodeur (currently making $4M per) @$6M? Somebody needs to take CapGeek away from this fella....

I wish we could fast forward a couple years. I'm really looking forward to this kid...

I think Nashville played a little hard ball considering Legwand was their first player and pretty much the face of the franchise (in a way). Didn't help that at the time he was their leading point getter. That said, that doesn't excuse Holland for overpaying,
-
I think adding Legwand helped get us into the playoffs. So right now, I'll say yes. Talk to me in a couple years for a more complete and confident answer...

I've always thought that he thrived in that 2nd fiddle role, most recently behind Hossa. It's mentally taxing on him to be THE guy, IMO.

Ken Daniels calling the game on NBCSN.
-
I think Mantha, Sheahan, and Jurco are part of the solution there, but to fully realize that won't be for another couple years....
-
Nope, pretty bare bones. The hosts say their shows are caller driven. I dunno, I find it hard to believe that the sports fan around here wants to break down each Tigers' loss or win (especially in April....) and talk constantly about how the Lions (one of the worst sports franchises in history, mind you) are going to F up their draft picks.....again. If that IS true, then the Michigan/Detroit sports fan priorities are very sad.
-
Seems like a likeable down-to-earth kid. Now we need to find a way to get him in Detroit where he belongs (and most likely wants to be)... http://bostonherald.com/sports/bruins_nhl/boston_bruins/2014/04/talk_of_the_town_bruins_torey_krug_faces_his_hometown_team

ECQF - Series C - Penguins versus Blue Jackets
unsaddleddonald replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
I can agree with that, but what I saw being called were penalties like Scuderi's where the puck was chipped past him and then he proceeded to skate in front of the guy's skating space to slow him down. That should be a penalty every time. -

I thought that game was officiated pretty well actually. Especially the chip and chase penalties. If that game is any indication, the Wings had better be careful. If a guy chips the puck past you, DON'T TOUCH HIM! -
I think we're starting to see with the D-men the same problem we saw with our depth forwards: Too many bodies. How do Sproul/Ouellet/Almqvist effect what we do in the offseason?
-
6th/7th round pick? Sure. That doesn't solve our lack of a top 4 though.

Gus & Tatar almost traded to Calgary per McKenzie

I would think that a player with his shot and his passing ability can do better than a 3rd line center... -

We're annoyed because it is guys like Paul Holmgren who have created this "reality". Throwing money at guys who don't deserve it. I don't care who you play for, a d-man worth $5M per doesn't finish -22 and 28 points. Every defenseman should be judge on a Nick Lidstrom scale. How much did the best d-man of the generation make in his last year? $6M?
