Forechecking was pretty good, but sloppy passing. -

I hope you're right. He's the guy I wanted them to trade up for. Luckily Mantha was still available. But still, Lindholm has Red Wings written all over him. -
So basically 2 people think Kronwall is the dirtiest.

Patrick Roy goes crazy on Bruce Boudreau

I found myself cheering him on. Ducks gooning it up as usual towards the end of the game trying to take out MacKinnon. -

That first PP unit was awesome. If they keep creating those chances then their PP will be tops in the league for sure. -

I thought they created a ton of chances early on, especially on the power play. Miller really kept Buffalo in it. -
Yup, this team is completely different with Bush playing. I'm not too worried about that comeback by Chicago because that was just some great catching by the receivers with our corners so glued to them. It was an impressive win though. A statement win that they can challenge the division. The real test will come next week though at Lambeau field. IF they can somehow beat the Packers at their home field, I may be prepared to say this Lions team is a playoff team.

Neither of those compare to a Tootoo in the face.

I would get it, it's actually really fun on console compared to PC atm, thanks to Loot 1.5 and no auction house. PC will get a similar version called Loot 2.0 right when they shut down their auction house, so I'll be switching back to PC when that happens. But in the meantime (and since it's pointless to play D3 PC at this point), console D3 is a good filler.

Good win, and showing they can close out a game against a good team with an unfortunate start. Or maybe I'm wrong and Washington is bad this season and the Lions struggled to beat a bad team. Whatever, I'm going to remain optimistic, but it's clear Linehan is the weak point of the team since the offense struggles without a scat back that can make plays when everything is predictable to the opposing defense, like running a lot of empty backfield sets.

Agreed. It seems the refs of the Giants/Cowboys game later that day also agree, as this catch by Cruz was called TD on the spot, with no review: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000240906/Cruz-18-yard-TD-catch Almost no difference between the plays.

I'm guessing you're talking about the CJ TD that was called back? I just don't understand some of these rules: What's the difference between Calvin breaking the plane with the ball and losing it, and Joique Bell leaping over a pile of bodies, stretching out the ball to break the plane, and getting it punched out of his grip but still being called a touchdown? Bell broke the plane and it was called a touchdown, but if he didn't break the plane it would've been a forced fumble. Calvin stretched out and broke the plane, but it wasn't called a touchdown. He lost the ball from it hitting the ground, but it wasn't called a fumble (at least I don't think it was, I didn't watch the play live, just saw the replays) since he caught, ran a couple steps and made a football move to dive and stretch the ball out. Don't these two plays contradict? Another thing, Reggie Bush scored quite a few touchdowns when he played for the Saints that should've been called back due to the Calvin rule, but weren't. Jumping around the pylons at the ends of the endzone, breaking the plane with the ball, and losing the ball but still being called a touchdown. Heck, I think he scored like that the same week that Calvin first got that awful call against the Bears (if not I know it was in the same season). /rant.

Signed Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal

Don't throw tomatoes at me but honestly, kinda glad he's back. -
That's what it's usually like for EA sports games afaik. I could be wrong but I believe I read before that EA has a 3-5 year plan on what to do/improve for that future sports title. I personally don't like it, since the changes are for the most part minor, and you're pretty much paying $60 for roster updates. But on the other hand, I guess it makes sense to release a new title for each new season.

I bought it last night too mindlessly. It wasn't really on my radar to be honest. I was looking to buy Diablo 3 and a worker asked me if I was looking for NHL 14 and I just said "yeah." $120 gone just like that. Haven't played it yet though.

Knowing Nike, they'll probably be skin tight on the players too and market it as "Our latest Anti-Perspiration and Body Temperature Stabilization Technology due to the breathable little holes" and make the helmets and visors all chrome. Also, that logo is awful.

How about that new punter they drafted? I guess it's another bright spot seeing someone punt the ball ~60 yards with crazy hang-time
-
I know it's only preseason, but I was glad to finally watch some football. I can't really make a judgement on how they'll do since they've had a lot of roster turnover, but those new bodies on the field should be upgrades and they should win more games and possibly make the playoffs (upgraded O-line, Bush replacing Best, upgraded defense) but it will all depend on how Stafford plays this season.

I bet he's kicking himself because I believe there was a big contract on the table before he went with the short term deal. I believe it was reported to be somewhere up to $100 mil for a number of years. Just gives him more incentive now to get back into form and back to dominating. He's still fairly young and has years left. Unless I'm confused and that short term deal was the result of his arbitration? I can't remember. Either way I'm pretty sure he turned down big money for some reason.

Blackhawks selling melted ice from Finals
dropkickshanahans replied to turbowhistle86's topic in General
Different sport, but I remember reading about some outrageous sports items people have bought, and I distinctly remember a man paying $10,000 for Luis Gonzalez' chewed up bubble gum which I assume was from the World Series. People will pay anything for any item related to sports. Good thing about this though is the proceeds go to charity.
