ESPN/Sportscenter gives the NHL 2.7% of its time
dropkickshanahans replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
Every time? -
Eh, who knows. They are in last place and I'm sure some team in the playoff hunt will want him as a reliever, considering how effective he was at it last post-season, compared to his lacking as a starter. Anyways, Tigers made a move to boost their bullpen by acquiring Jose Veras. Solid, cheap move for a vet having a good season this year.
-
I hope not either. Hopefully Kenny can do something else that doesn't involve losing either kid.
-
I like Brunner, but Tatar will be a fine replacement and make everyone forget about LeBrun.
-
That's bleacherreport for ya... I'm out of the loop of why he's hated so much, but the only time I've heard him sing was when he sang Let It Be live during some New York event, and it was awful. Though I'd imagine it'd be hard to sing any song well by McCartney.

Red Wings select RW Anthony Mantha 20th Overall

Another year? I'm mistaken, I thought he was done there for some reason. That's fine though, he'll have plenty of time to fill out his frame then. -
Red Wings select RW Anthony Mantha 20th Overall

An interesting comment I read of Holland's during camp were, and I'm paraphrasing, "Everyone looked like prospects except for Mantha." I wonder if we'll see him called up if there's some injuries at the wing this season. -
Red Wings popularity in Detroit/Michigan
dropkickshanahans replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
This could be the first time in a long time (if ever?) that all 4 teams see the playoffs. The Lions made a lot of moves this offseason to strengthen their defense and offense, the Pistons have good young players and signed a top FA (Josh Smith) and brought back the old favorite Billups, the Tigers are a contender but need to separate themselves from Cleveland in the division, and we all know what the Red Wings have done so far and I expect them to finish high in the East and make a good run. Overall I think it'll be an exciting year for fans of every team. -
There's trade rumors that the Tigers are interested in getting The Freak.

I'm sure they're listening but having a hard time understanding what the hell he's trying to say

This was posted on RWC forums: from malik report : Holland also sounded...Let's say a little conflicted, as I heard him speak with Savage...regarding Daniel Cleary's future with Detroit given that the Wings would need to both clear salary cap space and a spot off the 50-man roster to re-sign him: "I don't know that it's done," Holland said. "We were just talking about it. We'd love to have him on the team. We think he's a versatile player. I made him an offer prior to free agency. He didn't think it was enough. If we wake up in the next two days and he's signed (by another team), I'd certainly understand. If he stays out there and he's available and we're able to do some things, then we might have something for him

Here's some pics from the camp: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130711/SPORTS0103/307110033/1128/rss16 I must say, Sproul looks massive and Frk has a killer mustache. I also like Homer being there doing drills and teaching kids how to play in front of the net.

Me likey. Now to get the others signed. -
I'd consider Tatar as Brunner's replacement since he'll be playing on the third line most likely. Either way, I think Tatar and Alfie are more complete players than Brunner is right now anyway.
-
I'm not mad at the Alfredsson signing, I mean it is a 1-year deal, and I think we know what we're getting from him: an old but legendary player desperate for a cup, probably good for 45-50 points. With that said if Brunner wasn't waiting so long, he'd probably be signed instead of Alfredsson.
-
One of my favorite non-Wings player. I think he's in that category of players you build your team around because of his great two-way play. He's pretty much Boston's Zetterberg like freshy said. I think this is a great deal for the Bruins.
-
I know it's just your opinion but I absolutely do not think any of those teams are better than the Wings (especially Washington) except maybe Boston, but even then who knows with roster turnover. 1-3 is open for anyone of Boston, Detroit and Pitt but most likely in this order imo.
-
It will take awhile before it's reviewed and determined. I'm sure an agreement will be met before that happens.
-
I never look at these cases negatively. He could have been asked to file by Holland for all we know.
-
Nice. Fredo definitely broke some hearts in Ottawa.

signed Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)
dropkickshanahans replied to ogreslayer's topic in General
I feel that the Wings are better than Ottawa right now, and are contenders in the East. I also think that adding a top 2-4 defenseman will put them over the top and make them favorites, but I doubt that happens. For now we'll see how Smith, Kindl and DeKeyser play until the trade deadline. -
I don't think they let him go either. He's been a leader and big time player for that team, and they'll especially need to keep him after trading away Seguin.

Is this Helm's new nickname for what he's been using to help with his back pain?
