I'm just going to assume he will not be resigned and the same goes for Cleary. There's not enough cap room right now, plus the Wings have to resign Goose and Andersson, and Smith went to arbitration. If the Wings were able to resign him, there's really no place to put him right now unless Tatar or Nyquist were moved.
-
I like Brunner and it's going to be tough seeing him go somewhere else, but he has to do what's right for him financially at his age. With that said, Tatar will be a better replacement anyway imo. eh's a pretty cool guy, more gritty, goes to the net and doesn't afraid of anything. But seriously, i think we'll see more consistency out of Tatar and the third line will probably be better because of him.

Well Pistons signed Josh Smith so my overall mood is pretty good.

Not gonna lie, it feels pretty f***in weird that Alfie's on the team. Not sure if I'm happy about that or not though.

Wings buy out Colaiacovo, will keep Bertuzzi

I'd buy a Cleary jersey if he boarded somebody and went "WOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo!!!" -

He's not 37, he's 34. -
Report: Red Wings out on Lecavalier - signs with Philly 5@4.5 per
dropkickshanahans replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Ya I'm not really buying the $5 mil thing, unless they felt he wasn't trying hard on defense. 5 years is too long for him imo. Still won't stop this place from erupting though. -
Jackets, Bobrovsky agree on two-year deal.

You're not off the case, Bobrovsky! -
I find it odd that they were comfortable trading back a couple spots to still get their guy (Mantha), but didn't wait it out to get Bertuzzi.

I really like the Nastasiuk pick. I don't know what his offensive potential is (looks to be 2nd/3rd line tweener) but if he improves his skating then I can't see why he won't be a regular in the future at least on the bottom 6. Dude just battles hard for the puck and comes away with it often. He just looks like a guy that gives it his all every shift.

Signed Jakub Kindl signs 4 year extension, $9.6m total, $2.4m/yr
dropkickshanahans replied to Jedi's topic in General
Agreed. And considering the higher deal Ericsson got at the same age, and what he's become now, I think it's a good deal for Kindl who I think has improved quicker at this point in comparison. -
I'm just surprised some here would want him at that price tag. Sure he scores, but I don't think he plays that smart defensively. He's undersized and seems to be out of position often. That's not elite imo. Wings are better off developing Smith to be that kind of guy for cheaper.

Filppula's team.

I don't think Calgary trades back at all, especially with the Wings unless they throw in Mrazek in a deal. I think their best chance is to trade up with Carolina, or if Lindholm somehow falls past Calgary, trade up with Edmonton. I would love it if this kid somehow ended up on the Wings. He has Detroit written all over him with his great two-way game. He's also cousins with Jarnkrok and played on his wing most of this season as a rookie, but naturally he's a center. I also found on HFboards that he finished the season 4th all time in ppg as a 17 year old at .63, behind Forsberg and the Sedins.
-
Trade up and draft Lindholm. He'll be a fine centerman the wings can build around post-Datsyuk/Zetterberg.
-
I'm sure he'll remember that moment and want to get bigger and better and smarter. Nobody wants to be the dude that costs their team an OT Game 7 goal on national TV.
-
Yup. His first full season in 09-10 his GAA was 5th best (2.26) and SV% was t4th (.924). So aside from his sophomore slump, he's always been in the top 10 if we measure only goalies that play a significant chunk of games.
-
I came up with 2013: 9th SV% (.923) 8th GAA (2.13) 2011-2012: t10th SV% (.920) 6th GAA (2.12) 2010-2011: 31st SV% (.908) 34st GAA (2.79) Did you include goalies that played very few games?
-
I agree. Stats look pretty close for goalies in the top 15, and goalies move up and down so much season to season. Howard's been pretty consistent with his production while playing a high volume of games.

I know most of us have our reasons for not wanting Filppula back, but for being lazy? That's a first.

Rumor Per Eklund, Wings & Flyers pursuing Bobby Ryan
dropkickshanahans replied to RedWingCraig's topic in General
Since it's Eklund, it means that the Wings and Flyers are NOT pursuing Ryan. -
Dreger: Filppula looking for $5.5m/season over at least 7 years
dropkickshanahans replied to a topic in General
ZDC makes good points for Flip, and others make good points against him. I'm still conflicted on if I want him to be resigned or not for $4mil/per if he can't find the higher price he's asking for elsewhere. A part of me wants him to stay because I know the good that he brings, and a part of me wants him to move on elsewhere because I feel he can be replaced. I guess we'll see what happens.
