gdt WCSF Game 7 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 2 OT (CHI wins series, 4-3)

Well honestly he stopped whining after that meltdown and just fought through it. As for Kane, he looks so calm and dangerous with the puck, and invisible without the puck. If that kid had a two way game I'd consider him elite. -
The young guys will feel the sting of that loss and not want to experience that again. Already looking forward to next year. Wish I could advance the season like I can on NHL 13.

Fair enough. At least he still has a fan sticking up for him. -

It was deflected off Kronner's skate, just bad luck. I feel empty... -

Hopefully that deflates the Hawks and Wings take advantage of that. -

I was thinking about this earlier today and agree with it. It's interesting how for some (or most, idk) fans they didn't have much of an expectation for this team in the playoffs, then when they start buying in and the team drops a couple, it becomes an embarrassing choke job. That's not a knock on anyone if it came out that way. It's an understandable viewpoint for any team really that's up 3-0 or 3-1 in a series and I agree with it-- if they lose tomorrow, it's just embarrassing imo. It would've been easier to handle if the sequence was different even though the 3-3 outcome is the same. I just find it interesting how it's like this. -
I don't know who to choose. Nyquist makes me say "wow" sometimes, DeKeyser's breakout passes make me say "wow" and he showed good poise on defense. Tatar is grittier than I thought he would be and I thought he belonged in the lineup, and Andersson gives you all you could ask for on the bottom six and showed that he earned a spot even when Helm comes back. I'd say they're all beneficial. Gun to my head I think I'd choose DeKeyser simply because defense matters most to me and he's the only other defenseman I can think of that would replace Ericsson's spot, but Ericsson's playing so damn good this season. I think at some point next season DD will secure the #4 spot.

How about Zetterberg diving in front of that shot by Stalberg at around 24:25? Captain Willpower. -

Agreed on both fronts. I think Toews problems are well, Zetterberg and Kronwall, plus being in the position of best team in the regular season. I don't remember this kind of meltdown as an underdog against the Canucks a couple years back, rather I thought he showed great leadership and fought as hard as possible to win even though they fell short in game 7. I've always believed a good, smart owner that wants to win = long term success. We've seen it with the Pistons, Tigers and Red Wings. Detroit fans have been blessed to have Illitch and the late Davidson as owners for so long. I lol'd at that comment by triplexxxsatyr -

I don't know the ins-and-outs of coaching or what it takes to be a good coach in this league, especially now with parity. I know Q is trying everything he can to switch up lines to get better opportunities from his stars, but when I see a stat like Zetterberg's line getting on the ice almost 95% of the time Toews line takes a shift, then that's when a good coach has to talk to their players about will power and fighting through it because it's basically your best players versus their best players. This is where I think Q fails. If he's getting frustrated, then that's going to carry over to your best players, in this case their captain. What's everyone's mentality now when their captain is frustrated and has no answers? Who was it that skated over to Toews in the penalty box and gave him a pep talk? Why's the captain need a pep talk from another player? -
I'm not really fond of comparisons between rookies and star players, but I completely agree with everyone on the comparisons to Datsyuk, which is why I wanted to make this post to pose this question: Is it just me, or does anybody else get confused sometimes on who's out on the ice when you can't see the numbers? I swear, at times Nyquist has a similar posture to Datsyuk when he has the puck until I see it's #14. Is Nyquist bowl-legged by any chance? You can tell he's a sponge and seeing what Dats is doing, what's working and what's not. I'm excited for this kid in the future. I agree, though it'll never happen. But I do hope Datsyuk signs for another 3 years or so, long enough to play with Nyquist and Tatar and then kids like Jarnkrok, Jurco and possibly Frk to crack the lineup and stay long enough to learn from Dats and Z and what it's like for them under Babcock. They're the most talented forwards we have right now and I want them soaking in as much information as possible from our current stars/staff.

Same thing was said about the 2008-2009 team when they added Hossa, only to lose to the same Pens team that lost Hossa. If they can close out Chicago, SJ/LA won't be any easier. SJ has had their number in the playoffs, and LA are the defending champs. -
Any tips on ways to tolerate the NBC media?

lol that's what I like about Pierre. I know he addresses Olczyk all the time during other matchups, but I get the sense that he probably can't wait for something to go in favor for the Wings so he can conjure up a specific question that you can tell gets under Eddie's skin, like the one above. -

I don't know much about De Haas, I'll have to read up on him more, but as far as McKee, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think he moved from forward to defenseman? All I know currently is that he's in the NCAA now to focus on his defensive play.
