Steve Ott tried "licking" Jeff Halpern's face
dropkickshanahans replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
Would've been funnier if he did it to Grant Clitsome. -
I didn't see the 3rd but I thought the kid played pretty good tonight.

wow nice hands and goal by goose

I throw temper tantrums in NHL 13. One time we lost a close game and I threw my controller at the wall but my flatscreen was in the way. I couldn't play for awhile, so I guess it's similar to a suspension. But I did show emotion... so I did a good thing, right?

Isn't Quincey playing tomorrow too?

That second unit on the PP has looked good tonight.

Yeah who knows. Mayhew was Millen's assistant before taking over and the Lions made the playoffs within a few years and he seems to be pretty active, especially this offseason.

Babcock loving this young group, Abby thinks any team can win it, and
dropkickshanahans replied to evilzyme's topic in General
Well I've heard some of the players nickname Abs and Helm "Dumb and Dumber". Also, wanted to share a couple quotes I found humorous. First one by Babcock: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/04/red_wings_coach_mike_babcock_c_1.html I'm sure he likes the challenge of teaching these kids and staying competitive, since they'll actually listen to him and not tune him out. But what I found funny was he already knows what the drill is when it comes to the trade deadline. Holland: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/04/red_wings_gm_ken_holland_made.html You see guys, he never said that famous line...oh wait, that cunning bastard... But, he was trying to get a trade done. I felt we needed a player or two to make a push in the playoffs in my opinion, but it appears that "the asking price was too high," or rather, Kenny tried to undercut his offers by offering lower picks/prospects the other GMs didn't like. With that said, I'm not mad. Kinda glad we kept our prospects. I actually wish that if he did make a trade that it would be for picks instead, but to each their own. Guess we'll ride out another empty season. -

What has been your favorite moment so far Mabus? I have to say, I don't know if you noticed that CCR song Fortunate Son playing on the radio when Elizabeth opened a tear to the future earlier in the game, but a chill went down my spine when I watched and listened to the black woman singing that same CCR song with so much soul amidst all the fighting and dead bodies during the Vox revolution after going through Elizabeth's second tear. I can't really explain the feeling of it other than putting myself in the shoes of an oppressed people and then feeling that liberation through her singing that song during victory. It gets me thinking that these tears Elizabeth opens and how everything changes when you go through them gets things like this song stuck in the past even though it wasn't created yet, so I'll be keeping an eye out and hopefully come across similar gems like this as I go through the game. This game is just so wonderful.

You need to sign with us Danny. Are you our pal, Danny?

Or it could be this is the only person this board is focused on after being hyped for months by LeftWinger. I also find it funny that it's now considered a circus act to take a couple days to think about where you want to play.

great save!

awful...

Cleary just looking at Klink flying by him and scoring.

Tyson Nash is awful.

Douglas Murray to Pittsburgh, Confirmed, Awaiting full details
dropkickshanahans replied to evilzyme's topic in General
In Kenny's defense, I think Pittsburgh has more luxury for trades since their main core of Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Fleury are still in their mid-20's. With that said, I agreed with you before that I think the Wings are a player or two away from contending, and I think now's probably as good a time as ever to make those trades. Perhaps just one trade for Iginla will be good enough if they also sign Dekeyser to play a shutdown role. -
Injured Helm: "Minor Setback", still out indefinitely, *merged*
dropkickshanahans replied to Tim.D's topic in General
So you think Holland made up a time table for Helm's return and not a doctor? Also, I thought back in January it was noted he'd be back in 6-8 weeks. Certainly isn't "out of nowhere." -
I guess the Ewing Theory applies in this case.

Kostitsyn Gives Up - Goes for Line Change

You mean an inch under his face, screaming at his lungs. -
Why does it have to be Nyquist and a 1st round pick + for Stafford? Is Buffalo asking for a lot for him?

Red Wings close to re-signing Howard
dropkickshanahans replied to wingfanatic4alltime's topic in General
Not diggin' the amount of years. Was hoping for 4-5 instead of 6-7, but at least he's locked up. Also, if Flip's really asking for that much money then I'm afraid Holland will let him go. I hope Nyquist steps up in his place and Jarnkrok impresses next camp. -
Jeff Backus retires... http://www.freep.com/article/20130314/SPORTS01/130314078/detroit-lions-jeff-backus I'm shocked and sad to see him go. I've defended him for years even through his days blocking for Harrington. He wasn't a great LT but he was very good IMO and more importantly, very consistent, starting in every game except one (in his rookie year). He was a hard working, true blue collar player. Probably the only successful Millen pick next to Calvin Johnson and Gosder Cherilus that I can think of. This leaves even more holes on the line, even more so if Raiola decides to hang them up, since I believe he's mentioned before that he'd retire when Backus does. So that leaves LT, RG, RT, and possibly C open. I'm not too sure how management feels about Reiff at this point since he never started and was mostly moved around as a TE and FB in most situations. I'm not too fond of that seeing how he was a 1st round pick. Fox was a project that I don't recall ever seeing the field since he was hurt most of the time (somehow). At this point I'm hoping the Lions are able to draft one of Joeckel or Fisher as the permanent LT replacement. If management does in fact feel that Reiff can start at LT, then I'm hoping for a trade down, or just simply take Warmack at #5, despite that being the unpopular move. If Mayhew can't find any stop gap plugs during FA, then this draft may be focused more on the offensive line, instead of defense, despite the regimes BPA approach.
