NHL Predicts A Capitals-Red Wings Stanley Cup Final

I mostly agree, I just don't understand why you threw Toronto and NYI to that list -
Mike Illitch to buy the Detroit Pistons
dropkickshanahans replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I disagree. Ford Jr. has been alot more vocal and shown more dedication ever since the 0-16 season. Probably a wake up call to get their ass in gear for once. Now they've made moves like replacing Millen with Mayhew and replacing lots of other people that I think are set to put this team in the right direction. I mean look at us this year: Sure, we're 0-4, but we're actually competing against some very tough opponents these first four weeks, and not getting manhandled like years past. That just warms my heart. Hell, if we could just limit our mistakes, we'd probably be 2-2 or even 3-1 right now. My point is, it took us 2 years from the 0-16 season to put a product out on the field, led by a backup QB, and actually be competitive to the point where you can argue we should win most of those games if we had Stafford in. That's very impressive considering most thought that with the garbage team we put out there a couple years ago, it would take at least 4-5 years to get to that point. I look forward to our first win against the Rams this Sunday, and hopefully more to come. /end Lions rant. Sorry for being off-topic on that. -
Oh well, not a big loss IMO, I mean, he wasn't able to beat out Miller for a reserve spot after all. He does have potential though, so that'll be another reason to watch the Lightning this year. I hope he does well there.

Mike Illitch to buy the Detroit Pistons
dropkickshanahans replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
YES! I'm so pumped about this! It took longer than I thought but after Tom Wilson defected to Illitch Holdings, I always knew in the back of my head that Illitch would buy the Pistons. What a relief it is too, I'm so glad he bought them, now I know they're gonna stay here for sure and are in good hands. The rumors about the team possibly moving was a little too much for me and I couldn't bear the thought of watching the "Pittsburgh Pistons" or whatever the possibilities were. You can't take a franchise like them out of Detroit. Illitch is such a bro. Sharing arenas is gonna suck but it's necessary if Illitch wants to build a new arena for the Wings. You better believe it SON! Bill Davidson bought the Pistons for around $8-10 million or something like that back in the 70's I believe, and made Mr. Wilson (the guy who works for Illitch now) president of the Pistons and PS&E to handle all of their business, making the Pistons one of the top marketed teams in all sports and DTE theater one of the highest grossing venues. I just wonder if his job will be somewhat the same or if Wilson will do some stuff for the Wings and/or Tigers as well. -
I don't get how this benefits us. How is our top 5 supposed to be our bread and butter when Ericsson is part of it and not Kronwall?

LeBrun is such an idiot

He still built the team, therefore his name should be on the cup.

At least you had to keep an eye out for Phaneuf before he was traded.

Who will be the whipping boys for '10-'11?
dropkickshanahans replied to titanium2's topic in General
Ericsson will probably be the #1 whipping boy, but I do look forward to Rafalski's ill-timed pinches and the rage on here that ensues. -
I will forever and always hate Chicago. I can't stand the Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox and Bulls, and anyone who supports them, mainly because of those who support them. Anaheim's a close second right now just because of Getzlaf and Perry, same with the Avs back in the day and their players. That hate is gone now with their new blood on the team, and I doubt we have a true rivalry like that again. I don't really hate Pittsburgh, but that loss in 09 got to me bad, mainly because of the media. Our cup win in 08 just didn't seem like the media thought we deserved it because of that commercial that was aired later on: It showed our players celebrating after the horn sounds our Cup victory, but the attention was quickly directed at Crosby and his teammates looking on from the half boards and then still frames, with Crosby saying something like "I never want to go through this feeling again." It was more about the Pens losing, not the Wings winning. Then it got worse in the 09 playoffs as the media and commercials rode the Pens the whole way. Babcock even made a comment about that, saying something along the lines of "You'd think they won the cup already." Then for them to go on and beat us in the final seconds of Game 7, we were quickly an afterthought, like that was any surprise.

I think this team's going to be so sick in a couple years or more. Three young future superstars in Hall, Eberle and Paajarvi, plus they already have decent scoring forwards. Could be another Capitals-esque offensive team in the future.

Am I the only one that respects Gary Bettman?

OFFICIAL SPORTS COMMISSIONER POWER RANKING 1. Roger Goodell 2. David Stern 3. Gary Bettman 9000001. Bud Selig -
The logo kills it for me. I like that they tried to represent the jersey a certain way along with going for a vintage feel and IMO it would've worked if they kept the original logo on it instead of some WNBA looking patch.

Should we try a new top Defensive pairing?

Should we try a new top Defensive pairing?
dropkickshanahans replied to The Secret's topic in General
It's cool. I think it's pointless right now because I don't see anything from Kronwall that's going to make me think he's going to improve that pairing any better than Rafalski. Last season was the only stagnant season IMO. They dealt with all kinds of injuries and nothing seemed to go right until late in the season when they could actually put a streak of wins together. Only good reason I could see switching them would be because of Kronwall's physicality, but then again, he didn't show alot of that last season. His overall defensive game was pretty solid though. Offensively they're a wash. I mean I wouldn't be against the idea of switching them, but I'd rather just stick with what we have been going with and not let one semi-bad season make me think a change is needed. -

I'm confused. Are you asking me how come I think it's pointless or am I reading this wrong? -

I don't really see a point in making any changes except Kindl/Ericsson. I mean I wouldn't be mad if Kronwall switched with Rafalski but I don't really see the point of it. -

This guy's a pretty sick video editor. He usually makes Maple Leaf vids (the coolest one is the Dion Phaneuf Rock N Rolla theme video) but he sprung off and decided to do a Datsyuk vid so props to him.
