I know he's a huge Islanders fan in real life, not sure what he was doing up there though. Hey, it's L.A. And whoa on Yzerman not going with a defenseman...

Savard to waive no trade clause

I don't think they have him on the block; Savard was just making a comment on what teams he'd waive his NTC for, but who knows. Didn't he just sign that contract earlier in the season before his injury?

Savard to waive no trade clause

I don't think Boston's looking for another center, but more defenseman. We could either package up draft picks+prospects, or give up Kronwall/Stuart+whatever. Either way, I'm not comfortable with it, I'd rather we just stand pat.

    FIFA World Cup 2010

I agree. I felt confident coming into this game that we had things figured out finally and we'd come away with a win. We had so many chances in the game that I thought we were bound to net one. Then time kept ticking down, with England's 1-0 lead in mind, and my stomach was in knots. It would be such a punch to the gut if this game ended in a tie and we couldn't advance, because they played their asses off and nothing seemed to go their way. Then just like that, Howard to Donovan to Jozy to Dempsey, then our hero Donovan with the instinct to keep on going, right place right time, in the nick of time. I'm so happy they pulled it off, now lets hope they can make a deep run, starting with Ghana.

    FIFA World Cup 2010

http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/news/2-goals-that-were-for-us-and-1-that-wasnt--fbintl_ap-wcup-slovenia-us.html I watched the game, and this was just a horribly officiated game by Coulibaly. Making terrible decisions, like this one, and the yellow card given to Findley for an "intentional handball" when it clearly smacked him right in the head! Yellow cards were handed out like crazy, and I just don't know what to make of the whole thing. Now I'm not a conspiracy theorist, never have been, but this ref's decisions, his arrogance, not responding to the players, not to mention blowing the final whistle at least what, 2-3 minutes earlier than what the stoppage time was suppose to be leads me to believe that this game was more about politics than the actual game. I'm not making excuses for how we played, because we shouldn't have been down 0-2 in the first half to lead to a comeback, but the overall feel of this game just felt out of place to me from what else was going on. I know soccer will never trump the other sports in our country, but the amount of coverage it is getting and the support the team is getting makes me think that it'll at least gain more attention. But if we don't get out of this group because of "what could have been" from this game, then the sport itself will just take another big hit again in the U.S., which I would hate to see because I do like the sport and wish it was covered more here.

Salary Cap rewards for cup finalists

I don't like the idea. Winning the cup is the main goal, not winning the cup and getting rewarded again for a dumb cap increase. The only cap idea I'd be alright with would be if there was a type of MLE for each team (kinda of like what the NBA has). I don't know what a good MLE amount for the NHL would be though. The NBA's is $5.585, but I think their cap is a little higher, so maybe $2-$3 mil for the NHL would be alright with me.

What are the Pros and Cons of next season?

It makes more sense for Holland to focus on UFA's (Holmstrom, Bertuzzi) first instead of RFA's (Helm, Abdelkader). As far as Bert wanting a raise, I've always read that money didn't matter to him, but who knows. I don't see him making more than Holmstrom anyways. I'm also not really concerned about the raises Helm and Abdelkader will get. They both shouldn't get more than $1m, give or take.

    seidenberg...

And then we have our players gang up and push Ericsson around and make fun of him before each game. He'll eventually have enough built up anger that he'll level someone and feel good about it.

What are the Pros and Cons of next season?

PROS: We get Hudler back, which helps us in a couple areas: We'll have an even more improved powerplay, I'd say in the top 3 overall IMO, behind Washington. Also, I think Babcock will want him on the third line again to give us that scoring depth which we didn't really have this past season, which I know most LGW members will probably disagree and want him in the top 6, but I just get the feeling he's gonna do something like: Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary Hudler-Filppula-Eaves/Miller Abdelkader-Helm-Miller/Eaves CONS: Only thing I can really nitpick on is our bottom-pairing defense. What are we going to expect from Ericsson this season? What about Kindl when he gets called up? Also, how will Howard do in his follow-up season? I think he'll do fine, since I can't really see a "sophomore slump" happening when you're 27, but you never know.

    Yzerman also wanting Pat Verbeek

You sound a little scared that he might take more of our members. I am a little too, but hey, that's business. People come and people go, and they get replaced. Happens all the time in sports. I know in the NFL, if a coach is fired and gets hired by another team, that coach fire the teams current staff and take his old staff with him from the other team too, because those are the people he knows best and trusts. It's just the way things work. But I wouldn't get too worked up right now about Stevie taking two people that nobody on this board even knew we had.
