Zetterberg leads the team in points, bro. Him and Datsyuk are at least making things happen through puck possession and creating the most opportunities for scoring chances.

Well I'm guessing it has more to do with getting more playing time in J20 than he would at the Elitserien level. I think that's best for his development right now, plus he's still growing from what the other poster said. Next season he'll definitely get his chance. This kid's gonna be awesome for us in the future imo. I have a question though for anyone that would know. Hakan says that since he has great hockey sense, which obviously it's showing so far, that if the draft were based on hockey sense he'd be a first round pick. With that said, what is he so bad at that warrants him one of the last picks in the draft? I know he's small but all kids are undersized and will take a little time to develop. All the weaknesses on redwingscentral.com basically say that they are fixable as he grows in size and gets stronger. Did teams just overlook him because of his size and we came away with a high valued pick?

Act like you weren't banging your head to the side after reading that

I also noticed Eaves is gonna get some power play time. Hopefully he excels.

Poor Leino.... With this scratch, I wonder where Babs will place him in the lineup for the game after? I know I've been wanting to see him get going with Datsyuk or Zetterberg but it's not looking like that now.

If your crystal ball is working properly

I'd still watch. I'll never leave the team even if they are bad. I'm a diehard Detroit fan and I'll love my Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings for as long as I live. -
Will McCrimmon be fired after the road trip?
dropkickshanahans replied to Blueliner's topic in General
Well that's not what I was trying to say because that part I agree with you. While the scheming may be different before and after McCrimmon's hire, the players are still the one's turning it over, like Rafalski, Ericsson, Lebda, etc. But others still have a good argument that it's the scheme's fault, since strong forechecking teams are bound to consistently or eventually create turnovers for the other team, especially when all they do is pass it along the boards, they'll be the most predictable. So that's what I'm trying to get at, perhaps we're too predictable, teams know it, and our players just aren't being careful enough in clearing the zone. -

You're right and wrong. Prior to McCrimmon's hiring, someone posted stats of our defensive efficiency and PK prior and compared it to McCrimmmon's the past two seasons, which we're significantly horrible. They then proceeded to show his career with Atlanta and Calgary, and they were just as bad. Also looking back prior, our overall +/- was higher and closer grouped in the league-wide stats. I believe Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom we're in the top 5 with around 40+, Rafalski top 10, Kronwall, Cleary and Samulesson rounded out the top 20. Anyways, even last year people have been questioning McCrimmon since that side of the production has dropped, but it didn't matter because of the squad we had. But even so, our giveaways are probably a league worse right now. Rafalski has been bad at handling the puck, Ericsson is making rookie mistakes, Lebda is Lebda, etc., and it all comes down to the players controlling the puck smarter on the ice, whether that'd be clearing the zone better, getting it deep more often or what have you. They just gotta be better. -
I don't get why everyone's getting on Dats' and Zetterberg's case for shooting instead of deking. They approached their turn the right way I thought after Bulin's poor play in net late in the game. My only concern has to be why didn't they shoot high on him instead of 5 hole (maybe because of Bulin's size?). Datsyuk should've definitely went high with his disguisable release and Zetterberg should've came in with more speed; he was the most predictable IMO even though he thought he was gonna outsmart Bulin by going the same route Datsyuk did.

I wholeheartedly agree. Although I'm sad to see Flip gone as well on the IR, I just feel rather anxious to see what we can do. I'm more pumped at the thought of Leino possibly getting paired with Datsyuk or Zetterberg.

10/29 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Oilers 6, (SO)

He said greasiest. I don't even know what that means but I agree with him. -
I hate it because it looks too much like Michigan State

Homer's such a warrior. You know a player is true to his team when he accepts his role for his skillsets and gets the s*** kicked out of him all game for it.

Same with me. I was so freakin happy when I found out Detroit signed Hasek. Almost as happy when I found out Iverson got traded to the Pistons, until I spent the whole season cursing at him and regretting that we gave up Billups for him At least Hasek could help us win the cup, so he's still my favorite.

Why are the Maple Leafs like a bad bank? No checking, no savings, and definitely no interest. -
Babcock's most used quote is "I'm a big believer in this team."

Darcy Tucker taken off ice on backboard
dropkickshanahans replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Darcy has two right arms? Sorry, but yes that didn't look too bad, but I don't think he was expecting a check there either. Must've caught him by surprise because he sure didn't look ready for it. Hopefully he's alright. -
"Those $1 beers was probably a bad idea." as everybody in the crowd chucks their mugs on the ice haha

I have to agree with you from what I saw. Not saying the goal should've been disallowed or allowed, but I couldn't find the puck either. I could see it between ozzie's knees, then it disappeared for a moment, then it somehow ended up in the left corner of the net. But the ref had a better angle viewing than we did so he could probably see if it was still playable or not, resembling much like the way Cleary scored on Hiller.

Same with me. This fanbase has turned pretty tasteless. I could never call someone out like that where it's public.

lol dude please I got away from 4chan because of that implying s*** and now you're bringing it here. inb4umad

This is all Lilja's fault! He's just sitting there doing nothing! Also Datsyuk and Zetterberg suffering from Holmstromitis, they can't carry the load by themselves pplz! This season's gonna suck I give up on this team we're obviously gonna finish 3-82-2. Out.
