Well, we don't really have anything worth giving up. This team has been trending down since 2010, but this team can't be fixed by a trade deadline. They need to trim the fat this offseason and analyze what they really have in their prospects. KH is very conservative with trades. The FA market is full of mediocre stop gaps. So, the only way this team is going to improve is through the draft.

He proved it tonight?? Andersson was setup for failure by babs. He's not a 1st line center, he just isn't. But to say he doesn't belong in the nhl is stupid. He's a good pker, and fits well on a checking line. Not everyone can be a superstar. -
We all firmly have our pitch forks and torches in hand. What are we supposed to do with them now that you brought rationality into the picture?

Those are all temporary absences. The D is healthy and still inadequate. I understand your reasoning, Z, D, and Weiss aren't playing, so it is an immediate need. However, I just want to point out that it isn't a permanent need.

How so? With the kids performing the biggest weakness is the 2-4 slot on D. Subban would be a #1b with Kronner at #1a. That slides everyone else down one and instantly fills our top4 defensive need.

Sports, and entertainers in general will always have to deal with the "what have you done for me lately" attitude. It's just a nature of the beast. These guys get paid to perform, so when they don't people start to wonder why they get paid. -

Maybe using numbers will make it easier for you. Weiss has 673 professional games played. He's played 26 of them as a member of the Red Wings. That's about 4% of his career. Do you think judging a player's ability to perform their job, based on 4% of their work experience is going to be accurate? Will it be fair? Can you say that you have sucked at your job for less than 4% of your career? I know I can't.

Detroit is middle of the pack on nearly every stat. The exception is the PK which is ranked 10th. The worst stats are holding leads. Detroit is in the bottom 3-5 teams for holding leads. That seems to indicate either goal tending/defense needs to improve. The goal tending part is all on Jimmy, hopefully he can rise to the occasion. There's really no reason to package up people for Steve Ott. It doesn't make any sense. -
