I'll pay extra attention next game, but to me looks like a lack of support. The D gets it up to the forwards who then proceed to lose it. The D close off their men and win the majority of their battles but the forwards hang them out to dry.

Am I the only one should thinks our D corps are fantastic? All the defensive problems seem to be caused by the forwards.

I disagree. They had major luck in game 1, but in this game they had very bad luck. I think 1-1 is about right. However, I hope Detroit finds their home ice mojo again. If that's the case then the Preds are going to have a disappointing run.

Quincy has, for the first time since we got him, looked good. Actually he looked pretty good last game too. The D as a whole has been great. It's the forwards that have trouble in our zone some times. Great game! Big E has continued his dominance.

Bad news is Detroit is getting outplayed. Good news is its the first period of the first game of the playoffs.

Well if this team plays like they did early on and in the middle of the season they are damn near unstoppable. Defense has been much improved this year. It seems like goal scoring is an issue, and puck possession needs to improve. They have the tools, they CAN win. I think the new Asst. coaches aren't bringing as much to the table as we hoped. Their new PP approach worked well in the beginning of the season, but has dropped off BIG time. If the bottom 2 lines can pick up the scoring like they did earlier in the season, PP starts to work (even just a little), and possession time increases then the Wings can hang with anyone.

Nyquist is looking like that missing top six winger we've desperately needed.

Well let's take a look at this. The '96 Wings team lost to another power house, the Avs. It's not like the Avs snuck into the playoffs, they were #2 in the west by a large margin. The '09 Sharks lost to Anaheim, a team that was 2 years removed from a cup. The same team that came close to beating the Wings. The '09 Wings lost to the Pens, in game 7 of the finals. The Pens were #2 in the East, and had made the finals the year prior. Essentially what I'm trying to say is those examples don't really showcase the "anything can happen" mentality. The teams that won had every right to win. You rarely see low seeds winning the Cup. They are a low seed for a reason. The '09 Anaheim team is probably the best 8 seed in the past decade.
