The Wings when playing fairly decently can play and beat pretty much any team. But when they have to play against their opponent and the refs they are going to have a hard time winning regardless of how they are playing.

If I am Red Wings management and we go down 3-0, I say goon it up in game 4. If we can't beat them, beat them! Put in Tollefson and May, and tell Cleary, Ericcson, Bertuzzi, Abdelkader, Helm, Stuart, Kronwall, hell even Osgood to go out and punish them. Beat the holy hell out of San Jose.

Shanny, put the Red Wings over the top in '97. They don't win that year w/o Shanny imo. Does he deserve to have his number retired? Maybe. I think the biggest thing is whether Ozzie gets his retired. Ozzie has done a lot for the Red Wings, with the wins, and the rings, but I don't see him getting his number retired. If he doesn't get his number retired, Shanny doesn't, Draper doesn't, Maltby doesn't, Federov doesn't, etc.

Lately, it seems if the mystical myth of low scoring playoff hockey is fading and fading fast. It seems that this year there have been significantly more goals scored in playoffs. Is anyone else noticing this, or am I crazy?
