    Hockey Card Collection

I used to collect. I have a couple Lindros rookie cards. I loved collecting goalies. I liked all the cool equipment they had.

    100 points!

I hate to be Negative Nancy, but as nice as 100 pt seasons are, the true measure of this franchise now is not anything in the regular season. As Wings fans, are expectations should be much higher, as in Stanley Cup or bust. The teams we have had for the last 15-20 years were Stanley Cup contenders. So, yes, I will break out the golf clap applauding 100 pts, but I want to celebrate in June!

4/4 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Flyers 4

lol these guys are pissing the mule off! He needs to channel some inner rage and beat the holy hell out of the Flyers! And for the record, today would be a good day for the Todd Bertuzzi of old to come back. The crippler Todd Bertuzzi.

    Wings off season moves.

Yes, seriously. I think he would come cheap and I don't think that he is washed up or anything. He scored 50 some goals on Thornton's wing. Don't you think he could get at least 25-30 on Datsyuk's wing?

    Wings off season moves.

I would be pretty happy with this roster: FORWARDS Pavel Datsyuk $6,700,000 Henrik Zetterberg $6,083,333 Johan Franzen $3,954,545 Valtteri Filppula $3,000,000 Daniel Cleary $2,800,000 Todd Bertuzzi $1,750,000 Tomas Holmstrom $1,750,000 Kris Draper $1,583,333 Jonathan Cheechoo $1,500,000 Darren Helm $1,250,000 Justin Abdelkader $1,000,000 Drew Miller $875,000 Patrick Eaves $875,000 DEFENSEMEN Brian Rafalski $6,000,000 Nicklas Lidstrom $4,250,000 Brad Stuart $3,750,000 Niklas Kronwall $3,000,000 Andreas Lilja $1,000,000 Jonathan Ericsson $900,000 Jakub Kindl $883,333 Derek Meech $550,000 GOALTENDERS Chris Osgood $1,416,666 Jimmy Howard $716,666 ROSTER SIZE 23 SALARY CAP $56,800,000 PAYROLL $55,587,876 BONUSES $0 CAP SPACE $1,212,124 Lines: Datsyuk/Cheechoo/Holmstrom Filpulla/Zetterberg/Franzen Abdelkader/Bertuzzi/Cleary Draper/Helm/Eaves Miller Lidstrom/Rafalski Stuart/Kronwall Ericcson/Lilja Kindl/Meech Howard Osgood Thoughts?
  8. Most people here don't realize that if he was 6'3" 205lbs he would have been drafted. And to top it off drafted by a team that would pick much higher than Detroit. I say its worth the risk. If he can put the puck in the net and somewhat keep it out of ours, sign him up, and let Babcock coach him up.
  9. Filppula is a redundant piece, not useless, but redundant. We have several players who play a strong two-way game, who are good passers. Until Flip develops the ability to finish, its Hossa hands down. The Wings need a sniper or two. Guys who can score at will. We have too many guys who are the same two-way defensively responsible forwards who are good passers. They need someone who is selfish, who shoots first, and thinks pass as a last ditch effort. Hossa had the swagger of a sniper. And he would have been the better choice.

Joe Thornton bad for canada and shark?

I remember when Joe Thornton was traded from Boston. Many here wanted to trade Datsyuk for Thornton. Glad that didn't happen?

Jagr coming back for next season?

First, Jagr with Datsyuk would be a lethal combo. The one thing that bothers me about this current Red Wings team is that no one is selfish, we need a sniper. Someone who looks to shoot first, pass later. Someone who can score at will. Jagr is one of those guys. Our team is loaded with guys who are good both ways. Except, if you look at most teams they have guys who are great offensively, average or worse defensively and guys who are horrible offensively and great defensively. You need that balance. Without that balance you end up with a team that struggles to score and guys who are good at everything and great at nothing. IMO Jagr at 4 mil for 1 year is a steal. Would instantly make this team better.

NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics

Some Rules I would like to see: 1. No-touch Icing 2. Instead of delay of game penalty for shooting the puck over the glass, change it to a situation where the defending team can't change similar to an icing 3. Eliminate the trapezoid 4. Allow hand passes in all zones 5. Eliminate Shootouts 6. Go back to the W, L, Tie format 7. Make the puck live after it touches the netting 8. Mandatory shields

    Lidstrom isn't thinking retirement

Lidstrom will leave, when he wants to leave. He will leave on his terms and in the good graces and well wishes of the Red Wings organization. He most likely will take a paycut. I see him in the 4-4.5 million range for two years. He knows that if he takes a cut the Red Wings can be that much more competitive for the next two years. And, he has never given any indication that he was a greedy or selfish player. He still plays on a very high level. Not Norris Trophy level, but high enough. The best part is that he has been so smart, and positionally sound there isn't too much wear on his body. And for those complaining about the offense, or the lack thereof, after this year, when/if his cap hit drops I'm okay with him playing solid defense and mediocre offense.
