^enough of that nonsense. If you are a Penguins fan visit a Penguins forum. This is LetsGoWings not LetsGoPens. I respect what they did, doesn't mean I have to like it.

    Trading Kronwall?

Okay, first off I am not advocating this but want to get peoples reactions to this. Should the Red Wings trade Kronwall? With our cap struggles, is Kronwall untouchable? My reasoning is that if Kronwall was traded for a younger defenseman with skill would you do it? The only reason I pose this question is the frequency in which Kronwall seems to injure himself. Would it perhaps be wise to trade him while his value is quite high? Hypothetically, say trade Kronwall for Drew Doughty. Would you do it? Again, I reiterate, not advocating it, just asking for people's reactions. I know some feel that he is the heir apparent to Nick Lidstrom. But, I don't think that he has the durability to be counted on in the same way Lidstrom has been counted on. His skill level is quite high but not quite Lidstrom level (I can agree that it is possibly no one will ever be on Lidstrom's level). His defensive play and effectiveness rely on him playing a bit of a reckless style which has been detrimental to his health. And his hockey sense and hockey IQ are maybe slightly above average. So please, weigh in, and tell me what you think.

    Trading Kronwall?

I just threw out Doughty as an example. I know it wouldn't be a straight one for one swap. I'm just saying Kronwall + ? for young talented d-man + ? And having Kronwall and the other young defenseman as core pieces of a trade

    Brad Stuart

For all those who are advocating that the Red Wings dump Stuart, please, find me someone better for his cap hit. What most fail to realize is that for every bad play he makes, he makes about 10 good ones. Countless times he has made a great goal line play to stop a goal. Now, I do agree with most in saying that he is in a downswing. I won't argue that, but he needs rest and he needs to play with the same partner consistently. And, for the most part, he could do more for the team, by doing less. He can simplify his game and play defense, and only defense. Go back to the basics.

Is anyone watching the Caps and Pens

I watched the third period and ot of the game. It seemed like a Wings game at 1.5x speed. I remember when the Wings played with that kind of intensity every game.

    Hitchcock fired

I was saying if Babcock left, not that he would, Hitchcock would make a fine head coach. But I would also be quite happy if he joined Mike Babcock's staff. He seems like a great hockey mind, not as great as Bowman, but you can never have enough hockey mind's in one organization.

    Hitchcock fired

Hitchcock was/is a good coach. If Babcock left tomorrow, Illitch would be on the phone with him. If doable, I would love to see him on the Wings bench. He always seemed to be good with younger players (minus Filatov, but he was a whiny *****), and for the most part his teams are usually pretty solid defensively. Add him for defense and add Larionov for offense and pp.

    NOT doom and gloom

I really think this year, if we make the playoffs, we just see how far we can go. I don't think you will see Ken Holland make any moves this trade deadline. If they make a move, it will be minor. I think that this year is a transition year, and it was Ken Holland's plan to wait unitl this offseason, retool, and go hard next year.

    Good Karma

they play up to their competitions level, instead of some teams who play down to their competitions level. And they will win some nights through sheer determination.

Howard the rest of the way

First off, neither goalie has been getting support offensively or defensively. The team as a whole is playing like crap. I watched the game against Minnesota, and it seemed like every time up the ice it was an odd man rush. Osgood got no support. and Both Howard and Osgood have benfitted from some awesome plays from their teammates. The reason I think the Wings are struggling is not due to our goaltenders, but the philosophy of Ken Holland. Invest in defense, and get a "good enough" goalie. Up till this year the Wings have not needed lights out goaltending. Rarely was it necessary for a goalie to steal a game. Now, it is precisely what we need. I don't think either goalie is capable of it. One due to rookie status, and one due to....well I don't know exactly why Ozzie's head is up his ass, but nonetheless something is wrong. I really hope in the next few games several things happen. The first being a rotation of goalies until one goalie has a dominating performance. Secondly, statement games from either goalie. A shutout, or a game with monster save after monster save. Three, a total and complete effort top to bottom. And finally, four, wins.

    Joe Louis the crumbling arena

If the Joe is a dump, I wonder what MSG and the Islanders rinks look like. I haven't been to the Joe in a long time, is it really that bad? (not sarcasm). As for the people complaining about the seats, its the same problem in new stadiums/rinks. I went to Ford Field for a Lions game and I practically had to be shoehorned into one of the seats. I would love to see a new rink built. I just don't think it will happen in the next 3-5 years.
