Well, I've never lived in Washington, my post was simply referring to the number of Washington license plates at Canucks games.
-
They're HUGE hockey fans. I lived in Vancouver for some time, and it was insane to see the number of Washington and Oregon license plates there, and a lot of them were at the Canucks stadium. I realize that Washington is more than just Seattle, but one team in that state, probably closer to the border of Washington/Oregon would do very, very well. Not to mention, a friend of my wife's lives in L.A, and a lot of people from Washington/Oregon also come to see the Kings play... most of the time, more people from Washington/Oregon are there then people from California. Which makes the decision harder. If you put a team in Seattle or Portland... the Kings will lose a LOT of fans.

You forgot '03 - New Jersey won again Those 3 teams were the most dominant in the league at that point. It's kinda sad to see the Avs being so bad now. I wish that that rivalry still raged, because those were great ******* games.
-
Vokoun is one of the best goalies in the league, considering the s*** teams he's always been stuck with, and has looked more than respectable. I'm sure that some team may consider giving him a try. A team known for their goalie woes. He'll be in San Jose.
-
They will, but the players who are locked up can't change a contract mid-contract.
-
I actually really feel bad for the guy. He was never an outstanding goalie in my eyes, but it's sad that his career went the way it did. In his prime, he was much like Osgood, above-average, but capable of bringing a team somewhere. But, the Canucks were a MUCH better overall team then. Naslund, Bert(in his prime) and Jovo.
-
I actually hope he does try to nullify these. The resulting backlash would get Bettman out of the office so fast...
-
Only two I disagreed with. Although, there were quite a few players I didn't even recognize their names.
-
The Detroit cougars, who then got bought by someone, and he changed the name to the Red Wings, after a Montreal team that he played for/coached/owned. Forget the EXACT story though.

What Current NHL Players are Locks for the Hall of Fame?

What about Khabibulin? -
Niemi requires more money than Osgood does.

I would be alright with him being on a 3-4 year basis. Lids and Raffi are both going to retire relatively soon, and he could be a possibility to make our transition a little smoother. We won't be doing anything crazy like 17 years or anything, but a small maneuvering of the cap could land us Mitchell and solidify our D for at least a few years.
-
Couldn't we also sign Mitchell for a 2 year, 3/4 mill deal, with this year being 1m, and next year being 2? Something like that, that would cut his cap hit down a bit, thus making him available, and also giving him more money next year, when we have it?
-
The things he can teach our young d-men, especially E and Kindl makes him so invaluable. One of the greatest D-men of all time, for sure. Welcome back
-
It's a crime to not even MENTION Lids. Arguably the best D-man of all time. I've never heard anyone say that Orr was at all defensively skilled. He was a great offensively d-man, but his defensive skill wasn't what Lids is. They're both great, but Lids is more defensive, and Orr was offensive. Also, no Howe? He dominated the original 6 days, above all others. Pretty good list though, aside from that. To really narrow it down to a top 10 is insane, there are SO many good players.
-
Why don't they just hang #6 on the rafters? People don't even know about him half the time. I believe the same goes for #16 as well. If they're officially retired by the team since 1939 (for Aurie) they might as well just toss up a banner, or allow new players to use it. I wonder if one day, people will have to start using 3 digit jersey numbers?
-
Mitchell probably won't be coming here. Janik/Kindl and E will be the bottom pairing, and I'm scared to see Kindl/E as a pair. Kindl's defensive abilities make Lebda look like Lidstrom.
-
I personally believe the best possible lines for the defense would be Lidstrom - Raffi Kronwall - Janik Stuart - Ericcson/Kindl Ericcson/Kindl Stuart is our 2nd best defensive dman, and since Lids is #1, Stuart gets to babysit. It sucks to have him on the third pairing, but we could make minutes more evenly here, with a strong d player with a strong o player on each line. I also like the idea of Kronwall/Janik. Janik sucked according to stats while he was with the Bolts, but Stuart sucked when he was a Shark, and look at him now.
-
I want Janik to be our #6
-
Turco has always been a goalie I like. If he were a Wing, he'd be good, since he sucks on the road at the Joe, but would probably be great if it were his home ice. As a goalie for the Hawks... I don't believe it.
-
It seems like people say our fan base is the problem, and looking at the ONLY 'Wings' Fan on the first page of comments, it's pretty obvious why.
-
While financially Wash/Pitt makes sense, it's not the smartest. Philly/Boston was poor in ratings compared to Wings/Hawks. Boston/Montreal would have been HUGE. I don't get why they don't market the Canadian teams vs the American teams. Case in point, the Us Vs Canada World Juniors and Olypmics had more people watch then any of the WC. Get the Canadians involved. Vancouver/Colorado is a great idea, as someone mentioned. Only Edmonton/Calgary and Toronto/Ottawa should play each other from Canada, and they'd probably bring in more ratings in Canada AND America then Boston/Philly did.
-
If Kovy gets fined, he's gone for sure.
-
I'd like to see Jovo come here. I know I may be in the minority on that, but he's a Windsor native, and I loved when he was a Canuck. It probably won't happen, but I'd love to see it.
-
Perfect example of what I meant. Vokoun should be at LOWEST #7. He posts average GAA and SV%, but he's about the same in those categories as Luongo was when he was in Florida
