What Five Current NHL Players Do You Like the Most?
Shady Ultima replied to Shady Ultima's topic in General
I believe the goalie is Nicklas, the forward is Niklas. -
He was also our free agent signing last year too! Franzen! The gift that keeps giving!

Fight between players causes grave injure to linesman

I think there should be some sort of neck guard on all players. This is happening more often lately. -
What Five Current NHL Players Do You Hate the Most?
Shady Ultima replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
1. Pronger 2. Perry 3. Avery 4. Phaneuf 5. Iginla -
Homer won't go anywhere. He's a career Wing.
-
The Sharks, hands down. Followed by the Blackhawks or Tampa Bay.

Dammit... Carman voted for Crosby didn't he? Seriously, it has to be Lids or Brodeur. I don't even count Ovy or Sid, because if you were not playing in 00 (when Sid was in GRADE SCHOOL), you can't be player of the decade. As for 2010-2019... who knows, maybe one of them will be.

12/28 GDT: Red Wings 0 at Blue Jackets 1 (OT)

This is why every team's goalie looks good against us. They always play their best possible game, because Detroit is the team to beat still. -
That's a decent record, considering the abysmal play of the team in front of him. He hasn't been letting in many goals. I mean, he only let in one or two goals in most games, and we still lost those games.

Would you take Ilya Kovalchuk if Lidstrom retires?
Shady Ultima replied to Miller Brew's topic in General
Honestly, considering the stats he's been posting... absolutely. A kid in his rookie year with stats that are close to the top tier goal tenders? Pretty sure it's not a fluke... We need scoring, and if Lids retires, we will need a d-man. -
Come on guys, this is TSN. This is the channel that shows the replay of any canadian team 6 times before showing the Red Wing highlights. Nash's goal was one that bugs me. Dats has made that play a hundred times, going through 4 people and scoring, and he does two and gets huge credit.
-
The thing is... that was what the shoot out was added to erase. It used to be teams would defend until OT, and just take the point. Now they defend until the shoot out and get the point. I like 3 for regulation win, 2 for OT win, 1 for SO win, 0 for ANY loss.
-
Pretty sure if there is a 0-0 shootout, both goalies get credit for a shut out. If I'm wrong, please let me know, but I know in my fantasy league, Vokoun and Thomas both got shutouts playing against each other in a game that went to the SO, even though Vokoun lost the game.

If he was working hard and not scoring, I'd be ok with him. If he at least looked to be TRYING out there, I'd be ok with him. The guy is a bad skater and clearly hasn't worked on it. He's small and hasn't gained any real strength. He's not really a good goal scorer from what I've seen either, he's just... well... Lazy. I usually defend him, saying it's his rookie season and all that... but our other rookies, Howard, Helm and E, have all been better. Helm and Howard are fantastic so far, and E has had some troubles, but at least he looks to be battling, and trying. He makes mistakes, then makes up for them with a great play. Leino doesn't do any of that. All he's been doing is going through the motions, like this doesn't matter to him. After bitching that he was too good for the AHL, I thought he'd have the fire to compete with the other AHLers who are playing with us, but he's been the worst player on this team. I say we don't trade him, keep him til the end of his contract, and see... but so far, the Finnish Fail seems to be a perfect nickname for this lazy player
-
The most realistic is 5.5 - 6. Anything over that and he's hurting us, anything lower and he's undercutting his own value. Of course, lower is better for the team in the end.
-
When Z, Cleary and Kronner step back on the ice in mid january... I want to hear Thin Lizzy's 'Boys are Back in Town' played LOUD, and we have to score 5 goals... minimum. For a team that is half AHLers and half role players, we've been doing pretty well. The problem is that the West this year is scary.

Well, it's time for Howard and Ozzie to suck it up and start scoring the goals themselves! And the last player to score, was Datsyuk, against Dallas, and Bertuzzi scored one more after that. -
This guy came into my work last night wearing the most bizarre jersey I've ever seen. I live in Vancouver now, and it was coloured like a Canucks jersey, but the logo was completely different. It had the red wings logo, but blue, and instead of the wheel with spokes, it had the old Canucks logo (the blue rink with the stick forming a C) Has anyone ever seen this? I'm really curious as to what it was.
-
I never actually knew the reason, as I knew most either wore 1, or high 20s, or low 30s. Also, the recent popularity of 20 is likely because many of these players watched Tretiak, who wore 20.
-
Any reason why?
-
Regarding Datsyuk, you are correct entirely. I was simply not counting them, because in the last decade (starting with 00), Lidstrom, Draper, Maltby and Holmstrom are tied for first. I suppose that actually makes him 5th, but he is the longest player on our team who did not play for the 97/98 teams. Regarding the bolded part, could you explain why? It is true that Franzen and Zetterberg are currently tied with 13 goals each in the 08 playoffs, which is the current Detroit record for playoff goals. I see Holmstrom as being the least talented goal scorer on the team. For years people said he had brick hands, and he managed to rack up all those points mainly from standing in front of the net.
-
Ah, well, I did not actually include the game vs Columbus. I only included from Dallas when Dats scored, then the 2 games no one scored. So it's actually 200:41
-
Larionov was here for our 02 cup run, so it's not like you have to be TOO old to remember him... Honestly, the best is probably the Golden Jet, cause it was so true. Watching that guy play, all you see is his blonde hair flying around.

12/26 GDT: Blue Jackets 1 at Todd Bertuzzi 2

You're right! f*** Howard! He didn't score a single goal! How can we win games when our goalie doesn't score! Seriously though, only allowing one goal through the majority of the game against Chicago is an accomplishment in itself, and only allowing 3 is a damn good effort from a rookie. It's not his fault (nor Osgood's) that we lost the games against Chicago. Their defense and goaltending killed us. -
It has actually been 144:21 since Datsyuk scored against Dallas on Dec 19. Since then, Bert scored one in that game, and the two last night.
