I think the 'Yotes have a good foundation, and whether they're in Phoenix or Winnipeg next year, I hope they continue to play. Doan is a great player, and he's a career player there, and he won't have too many more shots at winning a cup. Hopefully they don't have to wait long. The one thing about this game that irked me though, is that all the Phoenix fans were crying and being supportive. I love to see that and all, but the problem for me is, where were they the rest of the season? The crowd was pretty full the last two nights, and it looked like a lot of 'Yotes fans. If those same fans went to games in the regular season, the team would be more likely to stay in Phoenix.

Statistics mean little in hockey. The 'Yotes are a better team than the 'Hawks, but Vancouver failed at the sweep, and they're supposedly a superior team.

Good point. I forgot that if Chicago, LA and Detroit wins, we'd be playing Chicago.
-
I officially hate CBC. The first thing they do after the win is show when the Pens beat us... AGAIN! I know I complained about this the last game, and now they did it again. Bastards.

See you next year as the Jets! Detroit has looked fantastic in what I've had a chance to see. Gotta love the sweep. I love that the Coyotes fans and players wanted to play Detroit because they took us to 7 last year. They didn't take into account how tough our season was last year. Go Wings! Get some rest and bring on round two!

Definitely agreed that he deserves it. The team missed the playoffs last year, and he turned the team around in his first year and they made the playoffs. Kenny should be proud. I can't wait til Stevie is our GM in a few years.

Doan will be a career Jet/Coyote. To me, I'd take Bryz. Sure, he's looked weak, but I'd rather have him as an experienced backup should anything happen.

Wings can't possibly play the Kings before the WCF, unless Chicago manages a miracle and wins the next 3 games of the series. For round two, I'm most scared of Nashville. I'm not worried about high-scoring teams, because we can score MORE. I'm worried about tight, lock-down defense teams. Anaheim has a no defense and a weak goalie, and the Sharks have poor defense, and an average goalie. Sure, those teams might score 3 goals a night, but we'll score 4, at least. Nashville though, might score two, but their defense and goaltending could have us scoring only one goal a game. Personally, I'm hoping for Anaheim. They'd probably be the easiest.

Man, what the hell. I'm not sure if anyone watched the game on CBC, but right after the game ended they showed one of the History will be Made commercial. Of course, it has to show the last seconds of 2009's game seven. Thanks for ruining my good mood over Detroit's win CBC...

I just saw something that is kinda odd R Todd Bertuzzi 81 g/p 16 29 45 -7 15:57 @ $44,444/pt (cap hit) Salary: 2.250 10-11, 1.625 11-12 Cap is roughly $2/yr He makes 44,444 per point. Just a strange coincidence that I thought was neat. -

Uhhh... Maybe I'm misunderstanding BUT Wayne Gretzky - That's 3 Brendan Shannahan - That's 5 Sergei Federov - That's 5 Mario Lemieux - That's 5 Gordie Howe - That's 3 Patrick Roy - That's 3 I could keep this up. I don't care if some of these players are hated, they were all great player. -
I have a feeling the cops in Detroit would rather people throw the 'pi on the ice. It's tradition. As long as it's during a break in play, not DURING the game, it should be all good. And about Al not being allowed to spin it. Apparently, his 3 seconds of spinning it is 'delay of game' when he still has to go out there and pick it up...

I was listening to the game on my car radio at work whenever I got the chance, and the chant was overpowering the announcers at times. Although I didn't SEE the actual action, over the past two year Bert has been showing bits of the player he was in his Vancouver days. I think that he's been afraid to use his body because of the Moore accident, but with the Wings fans behind him, he's getting some of his confidence back. -
I'd love to see all the Wings fans in red. Because when the game is being played, the NHL can see the 500 people cheering for the Coyotes that much clearer. Then move the damn Coyotes back to Winnipeg, where they belong.

I heard today that the NFL has decided that they are going to have a lockout for the 2011-2012 Football season. With Football being the most popular sport in the states, I see this being a huge opportunity for the NHL. The NHL should get on ESPN, especially for those Sunday/Monday game times that were held by football.
-
I think that instead of an actual fine, the team is docked that amount on the next season's cap space.
-
Honestly, there weren't riots over the hockey lockout in Toronto or Montreal, and I don't know a single football city that has fans anywhere NEAR as hardcore as the leafs or Habs fans.
-
I was expecting 1. Become Commissioner 2. Move all teams out of Canada 3. Watch as they fail miserably in a desert 4. Argue that they are making more money 5. Claim that the fans don't know hockey like he does.
-
Uh... Pretty sure McClean switched back to Defense for the 2009 playoffs. Which would kinda show why our defense tightened up.
-
I love that everyone forgets that Philly had one. That game was so forgetful.

The reason Oilers fans can make fun of the Coyotes is simple Eva. There ARE Oilers fans.
-
I always think the coach (or gm) of Montreal is Bettman.
-
No. Simple as that. There is a reason the guy is playing in the minors.
-
I see him ending up in Atlanta. After all, they're determined to have every black player down there.
-
I think Sawchuck deserves to be in there, for sure. I wish I could remember Federov in his prime, I started watching the Wings a LOT around 2001, and he was only there for the next two seasons.
