I like the guy as well, but it is HIGHLY unlikely he will ever find his way back to Detroit. I do hope he finds a place where he gets a chance to be a starter though.

Considering the fact that both are young and on terrible teams, look at their stats. Btw, as one person said, look at Luongo. One of the top goalies in the league, but when he was on Florida, no one gave him a chance. A good goalie can help a team, but even Roy would look like crap on Nashville or Atlanta.

I always thought he had potential to be great. Every time I've ever seen him play (on any prior teams) he just looked like he didn't have anyone to click with. Now he has a few, and he's been doing damn well. I hope we keep him out of all our offseason pickups, as he was also the one I was most interested and excited for.

I think another thing Centre Ice should offer is the ability to watch a game after it's been on. I mean, if I'm paying 150 bucks a season, and I miss a game... I want to be able to watch it, but on my schedule.

This is a rather difficult question. In some regards it is definitely a plus, in others it would hurt. For a team like Detroit or Toronto, it would really have a positive effect, as fans from other countries could watch and would perhaps purchase merchandise, while minimal money is lost (as neither will ever be empty houses) But a team like Atlanta which can't fill seats would have a serious problem, as fans in other countries would not be paying as much into the system.

It will be NHL sized, since they're using GM Place. I doubt they'd completely re-do the arena, only to have it then be Olympic size when the Canucks play at home afterwards. -
He's an idiot. The thing about younger Canadians no longer watching is a huge issue. Something he should be addressing. The simple fact is, a lot of my friends who were diehard Leaf fans no longer even WATCH the sport. That's a combination of the Leafs being horrid and because of the fact that they CAN'T! I get lucky and catch a game on CBC when the Wings play a Canadian team. Other than that, I have to stream if I'm at home...

As I stated in the other thread, his number should be retired (as should Federov's) Simply put, while Draper, Holmer and stuff were a part of the 97 cup run, I've always seen Yzerman, Shanny and Federov as the Red Wings of an Era, much like a modern version of the Production line.

Any chance his number will be retired? I personally think both him and Federov's numbers should be retired in Detroit. Those two, with Yzerman were the core that brought us three cups. They all played the best years of their career here, and while they didn't retire here, those two players were Red Wings. Shanny could have played on every other team, he's a Wing

I think if Howard gets consistant, he'll be one of the better goalies. I haven't been able to watch all the Wings games, but every time I see him, he looks a bit better than the night before. Hell, he had a play of the week save, and it was a beautiful glove. I really see him becoming a top 10, maybe top 5 goalie in about 5 years...

As a Canadian Red Wing fan married to a Chicagoan, I'd like to also re-iterate that not all Chicagoans are that bad. And not everyone from Illinois is a bad driver, but Chicago has more than it's fair share... Also, my first post
