I'd like to see Regehr, Beauchemin or Staios before Ruutu. Ruutu would be alright, the only problem is where would we fit him in?

I wonder how long it's going to take before they admit they're done for the season, and they just scrap the team for what they can get.

If you're talking about the area of Woodward, about 5 minutes from the Tunnel from Windsor, I agree. Detroit should really start working on the downtown area. Bring what it can close together, and build on that. They should tear down all the warehouses that line the Detroit river, and make it look nice (like Windsor's side does). As far as the 24/7 and Classic, I love the idea. But I still think that the rest of the league deserves a shot at a Winter Classic before Detroit gets another one. It's just not fair to the rest of the league. I'd also like to see a Winter Classic between a Western and Eastern conference team.

I was actually a bit surprised that in almost every category for forwards it was either Dats then Crosby, or Crosby then Dats. The players know that he's in the top 5 of players in the NHL, but apparently the NHL and a lot of its fans don't think so.

I have a feeling that when Weber is a UFA, he'll be more than interested in Detroit. It's interesting, but my co-worker and I were talking about this today. I mentioned that when Lids retires there's gonna be a huge hole, and he said Detroit will probably go after Weber. And he also said (and he's a Leafs fan) that when Raffi retires, he sees Detroit trying for Phaneuf. I doubt it'll happen, but that'd be a hell of a top pairing.

You're ignoring the fact that after the season ends, Nabokov no longer has to pass through waivers. If the Isles keep him until their season ends, and the NHL tolls his contract, he's theirs for the 2011-2012 season, and they can trade him, without him having to pass through waivers.

Ah, thanks for catching that. I knew Rolly was older, I just typed it out the wrong way. I meant that Nabokov was younger. I think Nabby would have a very select list of teams he would be willing to be traded to. Chicago is quickly on their way back to the cellar, so I don't think he want to go back there.

As Patrick is my name, I hate being called Paddy, Patty, Pat or any for of short forms, because they are more commonly used for Patricia. Especially Paddy or Patty, they're a more feminine name in Canada and America. This here answers the question. The Irish and Scottish name was original Padraig, each had a bit different pronunciation though.

I believe that tolling means that the NHL forces the player to play the contract out. In Nabby's case, his contract would be tolled and he would be an Islander for the 2011-2012 season, making 570k for the season.

And most are playing for much worse teams than Hudler. Besides that, we're not likely looking to replace Hudler. Most likely, if one of those guys (I'll use Clarkson) were to be picked up in the offseason, we'd probably see the team look something like this Z - Datsyuk - Homer Bert - Fil - Franzen Cleary - Abdelkader - Hudler Eaves - Helm - Clarkson

I agree with the general idea that the Isles are going to keep him, then try to trade him at the deadline for picks/prospects. I wouldn't be opposed to picking him up then for a relatively cheap price, since his cap hit will still be very low, and Osgood is likely going to retire.

Actually Eva, that is the reason the rule is in place. Say a team was up against the cap, and wanted to sign a player. They say, hey, go play in Russia for a few months, we'll bring you in later on. That's the reason the rule is in place, but it still is kinda silly.

I'd love to see the Stooges and the White Stripes playing a show in Detroit. Those are some seriously influential groups. I don't know why people think Kid Rock is so good. He's awful, and everything he touches is s***.

I gotta jump on this to add that that team would have to be managed by Burke. Lemieux is part of the past, and really, you can't hate someone forever. Crosby on the other hand is the present. The whiny, ***** poster boy of the NHL, who constantly embarrasses all long time hockey fans. Personally, Crosby is my pick, with Bettman being a close second. Burke is also up there as well.
