Meh, let our guys sit out. Let the Hawks players exhaust themselves. I mean, they're probably going to miss the playoffs, let them have the day to 'play'
-
I went with A - Excellence, above expectations B - Meets my expectations C - Below average D - Unacceptable I don't expect Holmstrom to carry the team, I just feel he hasn't been playing as well as he usually does.

Seriously? Bert gets a B+ you actually expected him to be playing this good? He's one of the top three players on the TEAM, and playing better than a lot of people making a LOT more money than him. My rankings are also based on what I expected coming into the season. B is what I expected. Forwards Abdelkader: A After coming in early, he has been one of the best players consistently on the ice, night after night. Bertuzzi: A+ Team leader in +/- and just setting up EVERYTHING out there. Cleary: A+ Playing better than I've ever seen him, he's got something to prove. Datsyuk: B He's been as great as I expected, but he has not exceeded my expectations. Eaves: B The fourth line has been working great, and Eaves has been doing exactly as I expected. Filppula: B- Working hard, but needs to get more offense going. Franzen: C+ I've been a bit disappointed. I thought he'd be the best player on his line, and Bert has been playing better. Helm: B+ Helm, like Eaves and Miller, has been great. He's been showing a little more offense this year, so gets a + Holmstrom: C- Last year, he was our leading scorer. This year... he's not doing much. Hopefully, he'll pick up later. Hudler: D- Worst player thus far. Slow, weak, and barely doing anything on the ice. Miller: B- Miller hasn't done much to impress me yet, after being much better than expected last year. Modano: C I expected Mo to give our third line a lot more offense. He was starting to find his game, but who knows now. Zetterberg: B+ A lot of people thought he was slowing down, but as Dats wing, he's been great. The goal with .3 seconds left earns the plus here. Defensemen Ericsson: B- He's been better than last year, but I expected him to play better still, with a contract on the line. Janik: B- Didn't expect much, but he didn't look as good this year as last. Kindl: A+ I expected him to make Lebda look great defensively, and he actually impressed me. Sure, he made mistakes, but not as bad as I expected Kronwall: C+ Nick JR. hasn't looked like himself. His offense is down, and his defense is lacking by usual standards. Lidstrom: A I never doubt Lids, but he's exceeded ALL of my expectations. Rafalski: B- I can't say I expected much more out of Raffi, but with 0 goals, I'm a little disappointed. Salei: B Salei hasn't done anything noticeable, either good or bad. That's kinda what I expected. Stuart: A+ Defensively, he is our best D-Man. He's solid and works his ass off each game. Goaltenders Howard: B+ Howard has been great, and while I expected him to be, he's been just a BIT better than I expected for this year. Osgood: N/A He's played something like 5 games. I can't grade such a small sample of games played.

I'm going to assume your wife is French Canadian? Or comes from a family of French Canadians? Because that would immediately explain why she says open and close the lights. In French, to open, or to turn on is the same word. Zed and Colour both come from the British or French spelling of the words. Much like how Americans spell ax, or favorite, the Canadian way is axE and favoUrite. What ticks me is when I hear people say carmel. It's Car-A-Mel. Anyways, back to the point of the thread. I like what I've been seeing with Bert for sure, his defensive ability is there, and the fact that he's leading in assists and +/- is showing that he's comfortable here. Last year we were all scared cause he was a defensive liability, or that he would get injured, but his health appears to be fine, after playing every game last year.

I have a feeling that when we're going to lose against New Jersey. We've never been good on back to back games, and we have to go from Detroit(vs Montreal) to New Jersey. Not a good sign for us at all. And St. Louis will be tough after facing Vancouver in Detroit the night before. And if any are Saturday night games and Sunday afternoon games, you can ALMOST consider that Sunday game a loss, because of travel.

I think he meant that there is no AHL-er that Kenny really wants here this year.

Yea, the most dangerous thing on the ice is by far the skate. While you can break a bone by getting hit or falling, the skates can nearly kill someone. It's mostly lucky that it was his hand, because, at least that's not likely to be fatal, just VERY painful. This happened at a bad time too, he was just starting to pick up the pace of the Wings' style of game. Get Well Soon Mo!

I'm happy to know that Detroit and New Jersey are the only teams who do not have an official third jersey, so I know that's not real. But dear lord is it ugly as hell.

Thanks for saying EXACTLY what I was saying! I try to say that Federov's leaving in '03 and rumoured return in '08 was different than Hudler leaving for the year. I even said it was good he left for us, because of the cap. But hey, thanks for actually paying attention. And I'm confused as to how I'm grasping at straws. You're not even READING my posts. I said Fed's rumoured return in '08 may not have happened because of the cap, and Eva pointed out there was no cap in '03. I just was pointing out that it doesn't matter about '03, I was talking about '08. Seriously, READ my post. I don't hate Hudler. I was upset when he left, but I realized later on, it was for the best, because we got Bertuzzi and Eaves out of it, and didn't lose anything really. Now he's back, and as poorly as he's playing, I have no hatred or even dislike towards him. I want him to play better, because he's a Red Wing. I support all our player.

I believe Pittsburgh has a similar one too, or they're wearing it to the Winter Classic. I really don't get the navy blue - Baby blue with a circle in the middle with a logo. Be original. I'd like to see them wear uniforms that look like they were actual army jackets. Now THAT would be a cool jersey.
-
You realize he HAS been playing with Fil and Franzen and has still been terrible?
-
Well, you missed the point. I was talking about rumours that Feds was coming back in 2008. I know what happened back in 2003, when he left for Anaheim.
-
This thread is why people cannot ever take Eva seriously again. Seriously. Datsyuk has no defense skills? I realize this is 5 years ago. I just can't believe how little faith people had in Dats.

Heh, so Cheli crossing the screen is the new internet meme?
-
Want to compare Howard's second season to Price's second? I don't think you do... This is Price's third or fourth season? Besides, Howard's going through a four game slump while we're still the #1 team in the West. And most of it, isn't that he's slumping, so much as the defense is just not bothering to show up at all. Pretty sure we're one of the best faceoff teams in the league.
-
Although, I've never heard that Feds wanted to come back, officially, you don't think the salary cap had anything to do with Federov not coming back here? And Feds spurned Illitch a LOT more than Hudler did. As much as I don't like Hudler, if he hadn't left last year, we'd have had a bad salary crunch. We're lucky he left for the year, because we managed to fill our team up with Bert and Eaves, and later on Miller (not including Williams, cause he sucked).

Jimmy is sitting. Even if the goals weren't his fault, he needs some rest.
-
Stupid computer double posting...
-
You're only getting the middle of the left side of the screen? It's quite annoying, same thing is happening to me.

Why the hell is the stream only showing less than half the screen?

Well, I realize that it's likely chance and coincidence, but all I meant is that only one of the two current streaks could continue, if either do at all.

Ovechkin, Kovalchuk heard laughing after Caps' blowout loss
Shady Ultima replied to toby91_ca's topic in General
I don't understand how it's an issue... unless Go check Vegas. Did Ovie and Kovy split on the pot for the Devils to win? But seriously... two young guys laughing. They don't get to see each other as often as they'd like I'm sure. If it were Crosby laughing it up with someone like Getzlaf or w/e after Pitt got crushed, it's not a big deal at all. People love to smear Ovie, and praise Crosby. I don't understand how it's an issue... unless Go check Vegas. Did Ovie and Kovy split on the pot for the Devils to win? Why do people talk about intent to blow? The whistle WAS blown! The puck was covered, not loose. It only became loose AFTER the whistle, when a player crashed into the goalie.

So, there are 2 different streaks. Pitt @ Buffalo - Pitt loses in the SCF, Det @ Chicago - Detroit loses in the SCF - Pitt wins Philly @ Boston - Philly loses in the SCF - Chicago wins Wash @ Pittsburgh - ??? Either Washington wins the East and loses in the SCF, or Boston wins the cup. Only one of the two streaks can continue.
