    Should Valtteri Filppula be traded?

Only problem with this logic is that Hudler has had much more ice time when Dats was out. Now that he's back, his ice time will likely drop a few mins per game. Same for Fil, but Fil was doing more with his shortened ice time for the first part of the season than Huds was. I know the transition could be part of the problem for Huds, but I truly believe that his 57 points from 08/09 was a fluke. The way he plays I've never seen him as more than a 40-50 point scorer. Of course, this is all solely looking at offensive prowess, and if we bring in Hud's and Fil's total package, I don't think anyone here will agree that Huds is more of an asset than Fil (except maybe eva...).

    Jiri Hudler Watch Thread

You must have been watching a different game than I did. 1 goal /= playing awesome.

    Should Valtteri Filppula be traded?

His salary would have been almost identical, the only difference was that Chicago was offering a longer term. The bottom line is that he kept jumping to whatever team would win him the cup and Chicago was so stacked last year that that's where he thought was the best place to win it.

    Should Valtteri Filppula be traded?

It's fairly widely well known that the choice was between keeping Franzen or Hossa, so point your fingers at Franzen for that one. We also did make an offer to Hossa that was nearly identical to the one he got in Chicago. He went to Chicago because that's where he thought it was most likely to win a cup. Please stop with this "We should have traded x to keep Hossa!" nonsense.

12/13 GDT: Kings, Lots (5) at Red Wings, None (0)

You guys are funny. Did you all conveniently forget about the first part of the season when the 2nd line literally carried the team? The first line played like crap in the beginning, now they've gotten their game going. The 2nd line isn't doing worse now than the 1st line did at the beginning of the season, yet you all just said "it's only the beginning of the season, they'll get better!!!111!". Open your eyes, lines play better and worse as the season progresses. The 2nd line is in a slump right now. Deal with it, they'll get better again. The first line will drop in production for a few games, it's going to happen. It does every single year, yet the majority of the people posting here can so easily forget the entire rest of the season and isolate 5 games out and say how everyone on x line needs to be traded because they suck. How about you try to make valid points and take the ENTIRE season into consideration besides just a few bad games??

    Top line

Anyone else disappointed in our "top line" so far this year? We're four games in and together they have 5 points. That's barely 1 point per game for the entire line. The second line has 13 points and so far is the only line keeping putting up any real points. It seems like Zetterberg and Datsyuk are continuing their mediocre point production from last year.

Abdelkader nails Schenn and fights him

I'm also incredibly tired of seeing fights develop from clean hits (regardless if this particular hit was clean). Apparently hockey players forget that they're playing hockey. Hits are part of the game, don't get your panties in a bunch because you got hit.
  8. So I haven't been following the prospects as well as I should be this year, but I was wondering about 2 Griffin's players specifically (I have a personal interest and story). Francis Pare, Travis Ehrhardt, and Kris Newbury were all part of the Tip-a-Grif event and the Applebee's I work at. They were serving tables and donating their tips they earned. Now, they all had custom made aprons specifically for the event. At the end of their shifts they auctioned off the 3 aprons and the money made was also going to be donated. I ended up buying both Pare's and Ehrhardt's aprons, and since the store manager from my store knew one of the trainers (or someone else close to the team, not sure really) he was able to get the guy to take the aprons back to the Griffin's team and get both signed by the majority of the Griffin's team. So, long story short, I was wondering what was happening with Pare and Ehrhardt as it'd be pretty cool if they came to the NHL eventually.

    Getting Rid of diving

Err... That was RIGHT after he came back from a concussion. Who knows how that really felt? Plus, he got punched in the face, it should have been a penalty anyway.

WCSF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Sharks 4

Oh my god I'm sick of that commercial already.
  13. I'm kind of wondering if the refs are watching different games than the rest of us. The Coyotes have had a huge amount of penalties against them yes, but with every one called there are 2 that aren't. They call every little thing against the wings, and it seems like they are trying to even up the penalties. This is absolutely ridiculous. If a team is doing things where they should be called, it should be called regardless of how many the other team has gotten. Now, if they'd just not call the majority of it that'd be better, but if they're gonna call the piddly little crap that they call on the Wings, then let obvious s*** go from the Coyotes, something is wrong. Also, why did Abdelkader get a 10 min game misconduct and Morris did not? I see a lot of things that seems heavily like double standards. Flame away. Edit: In no way did the officiating lose us this game, because our defense was absolutely atrocious, and Howard was a again mediocre at best, but it sure seems like rubbing salt in the wound.

    No suspension for Hossa

I agree it wasn't as bad, but he still should have at least been kicked from the game.
  15. Lonewuhf

    No suspension for Hossa

The potential career ending injury is the same no matter if we're in the playoffs or regular season...
  16. Lonewuhf

    No suspension for Hossa

The excuse that the injury wasn't as serious is appalling. Just because it wasn't doesn't mean it couldn't have been. Aren't they trying to stop the injuries before they happen instead of dealing with the consequences and the player after a serious injury happens? Does a player have to die before the NHL will start taking these hits more seriously? Yeah, Ovi was a repeat offender, he got 2 games. All it takes is 1 hit to end someones career, which could be by someone who isn't a repeat offender. Give Hossa at least one, or at the very least kick him from the current game. What good are rules if they can continually make exceptions to them?

Officiating (I know, another one of these...)

He very obviously didn't read my entire post, nor did he read many/any of the responses. Your personal attacks over a forum post are not only immature, but shows you have no place on these boards. I very clearly admitted that this loss wasn't because of the refs, and that they lost it for themselves, however I saw things that I personally did not agree with, so I made a topic here to see if it was simply me overlooking things, or if my intuition seemed correct. The responses from the civil posters here seem to agree with my statements, your immaturity just makes you look like an asshat. Chicago boards are that way ----> Take your s*** posts over there where they belong. Also, the -3 rep for my original post which was simply an opinion looking for other people's opinion seriously makes me want to stop posting here. I left the 'official' boards because the immaturity and the huge amount of bandwagon fans. I came here because it seemed (outside of a few posters) to be mature forums. I'm second guessing myself now.

MY GOD, READ MY ORIGINAL POST. I agree we lost this for ourselves, but like I said, calling the s*** they did just to make the penalties even was just rubbing salt in the wound.

    Instigator Rule

Ok, thanks for clearing that up

Red Wings will win game 7

They've played better in Phoenix than they have in Detroit, so hopefully that continues.

    Instigator Rule

The instigator rule only applies to the last 5(?) minutes of the game if I remember correctly (which I probably don't).

    Dats and Z

I actually wish I could find numbers to see how many goals were scored by a Dats-Z-x line than the Z-Fil-Bert line. It'd be interesting to see.
  23. Lonewuhf

    Dats and Z

So they were just talking about whether or not to keep Dats and Z together for the start of game 7. Does anyone else think this is a bad idea? Dats and Z have had 0 chemistry this year (actually Dats hasn't seemed to have a lot of chemistry with anyone this year) and they finally put together a killer line with Z, Flip, and Bert. The second line has literally carried this team through the first part of the playoffs. Pulling apart a line that has been hot to put together 2 people who are superstars, yet have had 0 chemistry seems like a great way to have a terrible start to game 7.

Flame away after you read my entire post. He posted a sarcastic comment that I had already addressed solely to be a dick, thus a "prick" response was warranted.
