It will be a running total. i have all the totals saved to my computer. this way at the end of the season we will be able to crown a Hockeytown Gameday Challenge Champion! So, whats the verdict? what do you guys want to use as categories for points?
-
I like it. how would we feel about a point for every takeaway, and negative for every giveaway?
-
i just heard tonite that Francisco Liriano will probably be the closer for the Twins... that could be just as bad as Nathan lol

Ok here we go, i broke down the stats for every eligible player from both teams, and showed how many points they earned based on the scale i made in the rules. Here is how players from both teams did: Detroit: Andreas Lilja: 1 Nicklas Lidstrom: 5 Dan Cleary: 1 Pavel Datsyuk: 5 Patrick Eaves: 8 Drew Miller: 4 Brett Lebda: 1 Brad Stuart: 4 Brian Rafalski: 7 Jason Williams: 2 Kris Draper: 2 Henrik Zetterberg: 7 Darren Helm: 3 Todd Bertuzzi: 1 Valterri Filppula: 0 Niklas Kronwall: 5 Johan Franzen: 4 Tomas Holmstrom: 1 Buffalo: Steve Montador: 0 Toni Lydman: 0 Derek Roy: 2 Henrik Tallinder: 1 Tim Kennedy: 2 Rafi Torres: 1 Tim Connolly: 9 Adam Mair: 0 Mike Grier: -1 Thomas Vanek: 3 Paul Gaustad: 0 Jason Pominville: 7 Patrick Kaleta: 1 Matt Ellis: 2 Andrej Sekera: 1 Craig Rivet: -1 Jochen Hecht: 16 Tyler Myers: 4 Now here are the scores for everyone who played: 1. SaCkaveli20: 27 2. Wingsdiehard13: 25 2. Howard He Do It: 25 2. MCleveland89: 25 3. skyphoenix: 23 3. BamaWing: 23 4. VanDer: 22 4. Wingsalltheway: 22 5.Wings7: 21 5. Rubble_die_Katz: 21 6. T-Ruff: 20 7. P. Marlowe: 19 7. germanwing: 19 7. cjm502: 19 7. Marty Barry: 19 7. Greatness=PavelDatsyuk: 19 8. Mindfly: 18 9. GSBrooks13: 17 9. Wingsequallife13: 17 9. b. shanafan14: 17 9. bulletoobinary: 17 10.Jamaica Jon: 16 10. Hockeymom1960: 16 10. CupChamps979802: 16 10. SeeinRed: 16 11. shaeb30: 15 11. Konnan511:15 11. GoWings1905:15 11. Jericho613: 15 11. pjgj: 15 11. 55fan: 15 12. Wings_Rule_1010: 14 12. #19=Legend: 14 13. Casey: 13 13. Green Wing: 13 14. AIK'91: 6 15. McAwesome: 4 (you picked Stafford for the Sabres, and he did not play) So, what does everyone think? Too bad nobody picked Jochen Hecht! i wont lie... it took a little longer than i thought it would to add up the scores... but i think its fun! i was thinking we should add a couple more stats into the equation... such as a point for every shot blocked, points for PIM, hits... things that arent completely associated with offense. Otherwise the only obvious choices are Z, dats, homer, franzen.... the obvious offensive guys. what do you guys think about this? Also, i dont think it happened, but if i missed any entries, or if anyone finds an error in the math, just let me know and i will fix it!
-
sorry about the late response guys.... im gonna start adding up all the points right now! great game tonite! just outta curiosity... was i the only one who thought datsyuk didnt look himself tonite? he scored a goal and everything, but he seemed to be a little bit behind. maybe its just me though. anyways, im gonna start adding points up right now!

I have an idea for a game we could play on this board for the last few wings games of the year. For each game, I would make a thread saying "Hockeytown Gameday Challenge." The rules of the game would be as follows: Everybody who wants to play will reply in the thread with the name of 3 Red Wings players, and one player from the opposing team. Players chosen will earn points based on the following scale: Each goal= 5pts Each assist=2pts Each shot on goal=1pt Then we will also add or subtract each players +/-. Stats will come from nhl.com. For example, Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and 2 assists last nite, plus 4 SOG, and was a +2. That would add up to 15pts for every person who had Z. (1 goal= 5pts, 2 assists= 4pts, 4 SOG= 4 pts +2= 2pts Grand total=15pts) You cannot pick goalies though. I will keep track of all of the scoring. Entries have to be posted 5 mins before puck drop. What does everyone think of this?

A fun idea for a game for the last few games of season

yeah i figure it will be a little bit of work to keep it organized... but it will be fun we will start tomorrow... actually i think i'll prolly make the thread right now! -
My prediction for the Tigers is 86-76 for the season. Verlander will be in the top 3 for the Cy Young again this year, and Miguel Cabrera will be right up there in the MVP race. The rotation should be the strength of this team, with Verlander, Porcello, Scherzer, Bonderman, then one of Alfredo Figaro, Armando Galaraga, Dontrelle Willis (he has had a really good spring so far!) or Eddie Bonine. They will keep the Tigers in most games, and with the decent batting lineup the Tigers have, they should be able to win some games with the big bats. The bullpen could be a strength for them too... Phil Coke, Bobby Seay, a healthy Joel Zumaya, the new closer Jose Valverde, Nate Robertson, and Daniel Schlereth. Plus whichever of the starters that dont make the rotation could be used from the bullpen as well. It sucked to see them let Polanco, Lyon, and Rodney walk for nothing... and I'm not a huge fan of the Damon signing, but I still see this being a good team this year. 86-76 will not be enough to win the division or wild card, but a solid 2nd place in the division with the Twins winning it again.

So whats next? the way i have the roster on capgeek.com, i see the wings at $194,543 over the cap. what are the rules on being over the cap? im guessing its legal right now with the 2 week break for the Olympics, but what are the rules for this situation moving on? this is how i have the roster right now: Pavel Datsyuk 6.7 mil Henrik Zetterberg 6,083,333 Johan Franzen 3,954,545 Valterri Filppula 3 mil Dan Cleary 2.8 mil Tomas Holmstrom 2,250,000 Kris Draper 1,583,333 Jason Williams 1.5 mil Todd Bertuzzi 1.5 mil Kirk Maltby 883k Darren Helm 599k Drew Miller 525k Nicklas Lidstrom 7.45 mil Brian Rafalski 6 mil Brad Stuart 3.75 mil Niklas Kronwall 3 mil Andreas Lilja 1.25 mil Jonathan Ericsson 900k Brett Lebda 650k Derek Meech 483k Chris Osgood 1,416,666 Jimmy Howard 716,666 grand total: $56,994,543 http://www.capgeek.com/cap_calculator.php So whats the next move?

just saw a segment on espnews about the situation... they said there are 4 teams interested in kovalchuk... 2 of them being the capitals and the (drumroll please).............................. blackhawks. could you imagine him in either one of those lineups? especially if he landed in washington... him and ovechkin together?? WOW
-
Why does it seem like I can only remember Ray Whitneys time in the D as lazy and suck... kinda like Robert Lang.... And its kinda weird to remember what a goal by Nick Lidstrom looks like after watching the recap of the last time these teams played.... Anyways, LETS GO WINGS! I'm calling a very physical game tonite... and the Wings will scratch out a 2-0 victory. Goals by Eaves and then Dats in the empty net.

doesnt Janik have to clear waivers before goin back down?
-
that mixed in with a wings victory made this pretty much the best night possible!!

My question is how have the Wings gotten through all these injuries with only having called up 2 players from the Griffins? I don't get it i guess..... 8 players out with injuries and only 2 call ups.
