I think we should be giving O'Reilly a long look. Considering we need to draft a surefire C prospect this coming draft we might as well try to use that pick in a package for O'Reilly. We have some Dmen knocking on the door already in GR and I would be happy to wait one year for a few to pan out. The real question is if Colorado is willing to trade with us after all these years.

Fabbri showed exactly why I was so desperate for Holland to draft him. I like Larkin a lot more now that I have followed him more and I see why it was very convenient to draft him and have him at Michigan but I still feel like we missed out. Fabbri is more of a boom or bust prospect but he is a top line C that can score. I guess we really need to "hit" with our C picks in the coming drafts and Holland felt Larkin was more of a sure thing to reach his potential.

I would LOVE to get Larsson for futures if they are rebuilding. 2016 1st rounder would be part of a package.

I would be willing to move the following guys in a package: Franzen (even with salary retained) Helm or Abdelkader Ericsson 2016 1st - as a sweetener (also considering our 1st this year is likely the top 6 C prospect we need to go with Larkin) If we could move some or most of those players out while brining in a top 4 RH dman I think we will be in a good position to bring in some youth. Backman made a huge mistake. Babcock liked the guy a lot and if he wasn't such a diva he may have been a Wing one day like his idol Lidstrom. When you consider that since Kronwall almost EVERY prospect we have has had to go through the Griffins to get to the NHL it shouldn't surprise him that he would have to perform there. He can't expect to be gifted playing time in GR if he isn't playing well for the Griffins just like in the NHL. It would also be sending the wrong message to give him that playing time just because he threw a hissy fit. I really liked him as a prospect but we don't need someone like this in the organization behaving that way. Look at Tatar and Nyqvist trying to make the NHL - there is a lot of adversity to making the Wings and it starts by earning your job in GR then somehow earning a job in DET.

Also, when we were winning regularly Babs seemed to roll the 4th line much more frequently and lately that hasn't been the case as much. I wouldn't mind letting them set the tone a bit - When Weiss gets back I'd really like to see that Miller-Glen-Jurco line again that was producing.

Ericsson has looked lost once again tonight. Just isn't even close to a top pairing Dman. I'd be happy with him in a 3rd pairing shutdown role.
