#8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes
dirtydangles replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Agreed. Look at the weber incident. Shanahan said he called and asked if z was hurt, then made his decision. Thats bulls***. If you break the speed limit you should still be punished even if u didnt hurt someone. -
Hopefully this isnt a case of brunnstrom or modano. I see him going somewhere lesd crowded to better his career and boost his stock.
-
Fair enough. Some people are more sensitive than others to those things.
-
Okay if you want to be a stickler and take it in its worst possible meaning then yes, it could. But labelling someone a homophobe is pretty harsh based on that.
-
If its ur own dick, no. If he said ur boyfriend then yes. Its a horrid expression but not homophobic.
-
Not defending this guy but that wasnt homophobic... Thats a harsh accusation to make.

I know semin gets ripped on a lot. And I don't want him on this team. But he should get credit for penalty killing. I didn't know this until my friend (who is a diehard caps fan) told me that semin has been used regularly on the pk.

For all who said he shouldn't make less than kronner, I agree (i had him listed in my roster at 5mill) however, I don't think it should be THAT much more than kronner. Kronwall has played full year in every situation, is on the rise, and easily plays well over 20min a night. He also deals out the big hits. Lids is slowing down, and honestly I don't think he is incredibly better than Kronner anymore. Lids has slowed down a bit and shouldn't be relied on to be the no.1 guy anymore even if he still has the skills to be the no.1 guy. I say 5-5.5 is reasonable considering that his role is on the decline, especially if we bring in a guy like suter this offseason.
-
wouldn't mind this if it means another old guy is moving on in his place. Maybe Cleary or a trade involving franzen or something. The top 6 is getting SOOOO crowded if we get him and possibly parise and nyquist up full time. Although we could have a legitimate third scoring line soon. Just need to say bye to homer and probs cleary, too bad we are stuck with bert.

Don't see why Nic should be getting much more than Kronner at this point not to mention he no longer kills penalties. 5 mill is still hefty salary though. If thats a no then I'd attempt to sign Wideman who shoots right or Carle. Harding would be a one year deal thing because I know he wants a full time no 1 job but this offseason he might not get it with better goalies available. Anyone else notice the Rangers are drafting a LOT better than us?

This is one reason why I think that leaving guys out of the NHL for so long is not a good idea. I think that prospects need time to develop to a certain point, then they need to make the jump when they are ripe (not overripe). There is a transition to the nhl regardless of your age or how long you played in the AHL and I think if they don't get the shot young enough they just waste the good young years of their careers and then spend their mid 20s trying to figure it out at the nhl level. Not to mention they never get a good long shot at the NHL because the second they screw up its back to GR or riding pine and a vet takes their spot back for 20 games. Hope this doesn't happen to Smith. -
You cant talk with the ufa ahead of time. Why would people trade for rights if anyone could negotiate at the same time? It would just mean he could sign ur deal ahead of july 1st which makes no difference if he already heard all the offers as he will just wait and choose the best one.

damn fil looks dominant out there
-
Yep i realize that. I was saying that even if they did spend to the ceiling by borrowing more from the league and the city they couldnt sustain 3 players above 7 mill just from a cap to depth standpoint
-
for the games i watched jurco wasn't on that line - only cause huberdeau is out. he played with gauthier, who is also good but still. regardless, jarnkrok is the same height as zetterberg and datsyuk so you can stop overblowing that and he has time to put on a good 15 pounds. He is playing over nyquist at the WC and is 4th in scoring in the SEL at age 20.
-
zach had 69 this year and 82, 94 the next two full seasons before. Thats not simply a 60 point ceiling. he potted 45 goals in that 94 point season. He has put up over 30 goals every season since his first one (minus the season of injury). I agree that he works hard and goes to the net, but he is a far better player than franzen, he is a better scorer and all-round player.
-
he scores lots of goals, I don't care how. to add to that, we don't have a lot of top 6 players who score garbage goals anymore (especially if homer retires). Our top six relies upon beating the goalie the first time as opposed to banging in rebounds etc.

thxbro

Agreed. Furthermore, list one young captain of an nhl team that you absolutely wouldn't covet in free agency? This is a great opportunity for the wings to better their team. Hudler is like a used piece of garbage to me when I compare him to Parise. Think of all the intangibles that Parise brings to the table as a past captain then think of the little that hudler brings off the ice.
-
Sproul and Ouellet are as close as stud dman in the making as you can find outside of the top 10 picks in the draft. Both have size and put up great offensive numbers. I'd bet both of these guys will crack the top 6 within the next 4-5 years. To think that Jarnkrok and Jurco don't belong in the same sentence as pulks and tatar is crazy. Jarnkrok is for sure considered more of a sure thing than pulks and Jurco already has the size and skill to play in the nhl but needs time to develop properly into a top 6 player. Sheahan is iffy for me. Not sure if he will develop into a top 6 player just because he doesn't have the scoring touch i'd expect at the collegiate level (not enough games in AHL yet to see).
-
Well, the preds board on HF boards seems to think he is gone. They think realistically they can't afford to have 3 players over 7 mill which would cripple them for the future (which I think is true). No team can really handle that. The wings have gone for so long without a 7+mill player let alone 3 otherwise you sacrifice depth players. And that is assuming the Nashville can afford to spend to the cap ceiling. Whether or not the wings can entice him to sign, I can't say (obviously), but its nice to think that he may be available come free agency.
-
to be fair we have some very sexy prospects however. Look at Jurco tearing it up and oulette just to name 2. of course there are many more like jarnkrok, pulks, sproul etc. These players would hold lots of value to many teams. Its just that we know holland will never trade them. I mean he'd trade like ferraro, andersson, emmerton but these are all fringe guys. if he isn't willing to trade roster players or top prospects then we are screwed as far as acquiring nhl proven talent outside of ufas.
-
Lol so true. Some gm will have to ask holland to please take a star player of his hands for picks and mid prospects...
-
Do you guys think that with the emergence of OEL phx would be willing to trade gormley or murphy for forward talent? They currently have yandle, OEL, gormley, murphy, summers all as very good young guys and the last 3 arent even in the nhl. I could see one of them being moved for help at forward next season as their blueline will get crowded very soon. Thoughts?

I saw on TSN that Torres will appeal the 25 game suspension and that Bettman will be the arbitrator. How is this okay? Then nhl owns the coyotes....
