agreed. every time gaustad took a face-off he looked so comfortable, dug in, and won the draw. he has the versatility and comfort to change his stick over to win the draw with the advantage of a righty. does the right things, I don't think I saw him make a bad decision all series.

i think bert will be groomed for homers role for the next 2 years and homer will get offered the classic 2-way deal that he turns down in favour of retirement.

In my mind this offseason kenny needs to pursue Parise at any price up to 7.5mill. If that can't be done he needs to attempt to trade for Nash probably with Fil, Abby, next 1st, Prospect. We need a scorer that will score consistently in the regular and post seasons (not like franzen who hasn't done either this season). Beyond that try for Suter if possible, if not maybe try a trade for Schenn if its favourable.

Lets hope jarnkrok, jurco and pulkkinen turn out to be something special in the next 2-3 years or we will be ooooolllllllddddd.

if his play of late is an indication of his play next year I'd say 3mill. before the injury id say 5mill.

this isn't a knee jerk reaction, I've said it for a while: we need to do some serious rebuilding and soon. we need to get younger and bigger. This starts with giving youngsters a chance, we already have a full cupboard of prospects its time to promote and trade some to make this team a contender. franzen and or fil can be traded this offseason imo, if it means we get a legitimate goal scorer all year round. Nash would be an option if we can't grab Parise. Simply we can't make it out of the first round. We need size and scoring. Smith and Nyquist need to be up full time next season and we need to sign a few more guys to grand rapids. Then seriously consider a blockbuster move.

I like the guys you assembled but not the proposed lineup. Here is what I'd do to minimize the strains on Z and D for the long season - and note Hudler is not re-signed.... AGREE we need a scoring 3rd line for sure, and if Nyquist can manage at center I think that would be awesome. Helm just doesn't have the skills to be on a scoring 3rd line (i love hime though). Not sure what to do with Miller... he certainly has earned a spot on the wings... just not sure where. Again, If nyquist can be made into a center we would have a killer lineup. We have so much youth talent coming up the pipe I might die. I'm kinda glad there is no suspension only because I think we would experience a let-down in our play without shea weber out there. I would be scared s***less of losing to a preds team without shea weber in the lineup. I know it sounds stupid but all i could think about is how we would think we have the game in the bag if weber is out, and then come out flat and have a preds team work hard all around the ice to make up for weber's absence.

The sad thing is there were accidental high sticks in the regular season that were pretty dangerous that got 2500 fines from the nhl. This was WAYYY worse and intending to injure. f*** that.
