  1. our first isn't really a great bargaining chip. it looks good on paper but when other teams throw a first rounder into a deal its a much bigger deal as ours is likely a 27-30. we will see either ericsson or kindl traded for an early second most likely at this point. I wouldn't mind unloading ericsson's contract or else we will have too many guys on the back end with 3mil+ contracts. so really its quincey traded for a pick maybe 8-10 spots later in the draft. not bad. CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS: does quincey play right side? i know he shoots left. but is he like stuart?
  2. does quincey play right side? i know he shoots left but we don't really need another guy on the left side with big e still around and kronwall and lids considering kindl leaves.

Sharks May overcome your streak. Otherwise it would be a great game.

Someone should roll into the Sharks forum and throw up a thread on the sharks possibly missing the playoffs (4 points in with the coyotes in hot pursuit).

Yzerman asks Pavel Kubina to Provide list of teams

so what happens with the cap situation in Philly. just taking a look - with pronged on IR they still are over the cap according to cap geek with the addition of kubina.

    2/17 GDT : Predators 1 at Red Wings 2

OMG me too. I just remember the dats z magic right after it popped over the blue line. Kinda felt it when lids looked back and made the pass off the boards.

anyone still want suter on this team? just kidding. that was an insane move by the best player in the game.

Rick Nash "available for the right team/price"

^THIS. I don't get why people are willing to sell the farm/blow up our core for an overpriced Nash. Carter could be the biggest steal if we got him. He fills our needs and would be the right price (don't need to sell the farm and future). It would probably take more than Tatar and a 1st but I think its a good start. I'd add Ericsson to the pot as they are interested in Dmen. Nash is too expensive at this point for a winning team to buy and his NTC would still exist in Detroit if things don't work out(which Carter doesn't have). Holland will no doubt be asking about both but I see Carter as they guy that is attainable.

    Woot Woot!

    Jeff Carter

^ exactly. And ive heard many people say that carter is more effective at center for some reason too so it would make sense to move z back to wing.

    Jeff Carter

Totally agree with the above post. It makes sense and with lids almost done it would really improve our chances this year. That post sums up exactly how i feel and more

ya no biggie, common mistake that wasn't made clear. P.S. contrary to popular belief, i do know my s***. lol

    Jeff Carter

did you get that off cap geek? this was discussed at length on hfboards and even on tv and apparently the NTC is nullified. so ya, not as bad as you think. http://www.lfpress.com/sports/hockey/2012/02/04/19339976.html

    Jeff Carter

Ya, actually, I do. it didn't take a zetterberg or datsyuk for cbj to get him in the first place and his value has declined since then. also consider the contract that he is on and the difficulty that is involved in moving it. Realistically CBJ want some help on defence and a top 6 forward + our first rounder or a good prospect. if they wanted z or dats they would have to be adding big time. i think we have the pieces to get it done without blowing up our core. they will take the best deal available at this point (disregarding conference) considering they need to rebuild and are trying to get their max value back and minimize losses. but heck, thats just my opinion.
  14. dirtydangles

    Jeff Carter

The NTC no longer exists in his contract. it was nullified when philly traded him before it kicked in.

    Jeff Carter

it wasn't a hypothesis - it was judgement that IF he was slacking off i could see why.
  16. dirtydangles

    Jeff Carter

my statement was that how are you to know that he isn't trying to play his best? have you talked to him? obviously he hasn't performed as well as he did in philly but is this as a result of his "effort" or the team around him? we cannot know.
  17. dirtydangles

    Jeff Carter

ya thats cute and all to think that it doesn't matter what team you play for as long as they are paying you. if your heart isn't there and you aren't having fun - for whatever reason - you aren't going to play your best. he can't help the fact that he has a s***ty team around him, I'm sure he's not intentionally playing bad and getting injured. its just a matter of not having the right guys around you, he can't light it up on his own. how do you know carter isn't "trying his best?" Not playing your best doesn't mean you aren't trying your best - look at Z this year. and ya, that contract he signed WITH a NTC was intended for philly, so I can see how he could be pissed that he is now playing it out (practically stuck and untradeable) in one of the worst teams in the league. go from cup contender and finalist a couple years ago to bottom feeder. he wanted a future with philly and would have never signed a contract like that for cbj.
  18. dirtydangles

    Jeff Carter

Ive said before that i would welcome carter with open arms. The issues in philly he should have learned from and there arent any guys on the current roster that would be influenced by carter. Furthermore, the attitude in cb is rightfully so. Who would want to be pawned of to the worst team in the league? Especially after signing long term with that team expecting a nmc. He fills a lot of our needs: Size Sniper Rh center Decent age Think of the possibilities with datsyuk zetterberg and carter available at center for the top 2 lines. Thats a lot to handle in terms of matchups for opposing teams. If had for the right price we would be nuts to pass him up.

    Sabres` Tragicomedy Continues

man, that sucks. discussion on coaches wearing helmets? look at the hall incident being called "freak" and then more and more happen. coulda hit is head, he was lucky.

    Patrick Eaves injury

completely agree. look at what football players go out on the field with - massive helmets with face masks. They aren't moving half as fast as hockey players but still wear them.

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

My trade-able players from the big club are: Hudler Ericsson Kindl Cleary Mursak Conklin Emmerton Eaves Commodore Abby and Franzen available if big name coming back.
  22. dirtydangles

    Rick Nash?

i'd rather have jeff carter. more versatile as a rh center and on a less lucrative (but still huge) contract. would cost less than nash too imo. same age as nash if I'm not mistaken (27).

    SJ: Antero Niittymäki on waivers

Id be hesitant to shake thigs up the way they have been going for us but this would benanrisk that would make us a stronger playoff contender in the long run. However i agree with the above post that he doesnt clear through 29 teams so who cares about the above statement...

What happened to Zetterberg's scoring touch?

I honestly believe that the addition of a top 3 player will solve this. Add ryan, perry, parise, or carter and z will be back at it. That allows for z to get set up and have more space on the ice. But hey thats just my opinion
