Weiss weiss baby with another assist tonight. The guy just makes things happen and is in the right place.Its funny that he can do that after playing like 11 career games at Right Wing. At first I thought maybe his production was just because he was playing with Dats to start but he has produced with everyone. Loving it. Sheahan seems to have good chemistry with him.

Well ROR would be sweet to have when Z and Dats are gone. The guy is a stud. We would be moving a pretty substantial piece at FWD in addition to something on D in any deal for him but that won't be happening.

Me too but they will be wanting something valuable on the D side that we just don't have. ROR is too proven to be returning picks and prospects and what we have on D we can't afford to trade. The Coyotes would be perfect trade partners for Colorado.

Big game for Mantha and big game for the griffins. Seems like every game I miss Mantha has a good game.

Colorado needs Johnson even more than we do. They are hurting for talent on D and have loads of offensive talent.

Yeah I was at the Marlies game earlier this week and Mantha got taken off of Pulkkinen's line and really looked invisible out there for a huge kid. I was disappointed to say the least. Jensen looked really good that game as did Pulkkinen. I wonder if this is a case of Mantha putting too much pressure on himself. Although most players would at least work hard on other facets of their game to make up for it (I don't see Mantha really working hard on the back check or chasing pucks down).

To those recommending we can afford to trade Helm - I just don't think we will get full value for the guy. He is very underrated around the league and most teams would want a substantial add just to get the conversation going for a 2nd pairing Dman. Until they see the guy playing heart and soul bottom 6 minutes in their sweater they will only see 3rd line C for 2nd pairing dman in trade talks. Also any trade for a Dman has to have Kindl going the other way and right now he has negative value with his contract length. Helm and Kindl as the base for a package doesn't get you anything worth writing home about. I think the best course of action is to SUCK IT UP and waive Kindl and promote Ouellet. The RH shot will fix itself once a mixture of Pulkkinen, Sproul, Jensen, Marchenko get onto the team in 1-2 years time. Just thought I would also bring up Franzen. Does the guy have any trade value at all? He is becoming pretty redundant in Detroit right now and could probably be replaced by a combo of Jurco, Pulkkinen in the top 6. Has been fairly silent the last while and is -7 right now while playing with a mixture of Z and Dats. What do we do with this guy?

I could see us MAYBE claiming if we were still having trouble scoring and putting up PP points looking for that RH shot. But at this point we have way too much fwd depth to be adding a one dimensional player who doesn't play well in his own zone.

If the oilers ever get to be a top 10 team again they will all be talking about how they built the team through drafting and patience like Detroit LOL.

I think they would keep him. They may be looking to move Thornton or Marleau though for some high picks.

Sorry I meant to say UFA Qunicey at the end of next season walks. I didn't mean to say we move him during the year. Ericsson has 5 more years after this one at 4.25 mill and I just don't see us keeping him that long. We will have other needs by then with Z and Dats regressing further. The way I see it - in a couple of years we will need C's in the system. We will also be loaded with young Dmen. Ericsson becomes solid trade material to a team trying to get a vet for a playoff run and we can either nab a decent C prospect or a decent pick for him. By that point Ericsson won't fit the age of our core.

By the end of next season I would like to see: Kronwall - Smith Dekeyser - Sproul Ouellet - Jensen Marchenko Trade: Ericsson - Getting older and still has some value (might as well get something for him) he also doesn't do much offensively for us. Buyout: Kindl (nobody wants him) UFA: Quincey - I don't think he provides enough offensively to be worth keeping over our prospects. Also I think he will want to cash in big on his performance this year.

Its not like Babs is calling it and using it like a 3rd line. Realistically every line is taking a regular shift and getting good ice time. Also the "3rd line" is one of the power play units and its not magic that the power play has clicked since the same guys have stuck together. I don't think Dats is offended to be playing with those players after playing with cleary and abby for nearly 2 seasons on the "1st line." I agree - these guys have to stay together.

At this point if Weiss can keep producing for 4 or 5 more games I think babs has to consider giving him the keys to the second line C spot. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Abby Nyquist - Weiss - Franzen Tatar - Sheahan - Jurco Miller - Helm - Glendening I would consider moving Helm in a deal in the second half of the season for an upgrade at D. Kronwall - Smith Ouellet - Dekeyser Quincey - Ericsson (PK and shut down) Lashoff Get rid of Kindl for literally anything or waive him.

If you watch the 3rd ottawa goal the other night it was directly caused by his terribad clearing attempt. He could have been safe and iced it or thrown it to the corner.

I'm guessing Babs plans on limiting Dats' ice time in his first game back and he already limits Weiss' ice time as well so he put them together. Helm can do all the hard work out there forechecking.

Well, despite Kindl's best effort to make us lose at the end there we managed to pull through. Wings played great most of the game. The only thing I am worried about is that it seems Z has slowed down the last 3 games and isn't dominating out there. Hopefully its just a lull and he will come around - maybe when dats gets back.

I'm pumped for the guy going forward. The first goal he was all smiles, but the second one he was like "damn right son."
