kinda glad we didnt land gallant or hitch now. the more i think about it it seemed likely that they would just be around for maybe a few years and then move on to head coaching jobs again. i like this choices as they are for the long term, and it seems like that is what holland is more focused on atm.

we wouldn't need to buy him out... we can get a return for him - its just going to be something small at this point. holland doesn't want to give him up for anything and certainly doesn't want to have to buy him out.

id be okay with taking a chance on either of these guys. i know a lot of people here don't like the idea of zherdev due to his past rep, but i think he could be a good project for us. would be an upgrade on hudler imo. STATS aside he provides: Right hand shot Size (6'2) And at least as much skill as huds has. Those things alone make him worth a shot. if he wasn't bringing anything new to the team I would say no, but i think he could be a great bargain. A Z-D-Z line would be cool to put on the ice from time to time.

I totally agree with these lines, but i also see homer and cleary swapping spots from time to time depending on the matchup with opposition. but ya, agree with the abs, helm positions. i see babs playing that 4th line A LOT. These are very balanced and i would be confident playing all of them anytime. I just wish kenny could get one of yandle or bogo, cause that would make our team scary good.

im a big fan of this signing. but not a huge fan of white. players that used to be leafs give me a bad taste in my mouth. however that is a bargain. i really hope kindl gets a shot though. my only bash on kenny at this point is that: Sj replaced white with Burns = net gain. We replaced Rafalski with White = wash. Sj still looks like the better team at this point imo. we'll see what else kenny has up his sleeve. i hope he isn't doe on d. id love to see ericsson moved for something....

THIS. its gonna take one key piece like Fil or Franzen, a high end prospect (kindl or nyquist), and a first rounder. personally id add hudler to the bunch and thats a good deal. so helm is definitely not on the table in the context you put. i could see abby added but not helm. helm is a very special player.

please no white or babchuck. do not want. they are just plugs. much rather have a young up and commer for the future. id rather give up lots now for a young dman like yandle or bogosian than have another plug. lids leaves next year likely and following this years FA sweepstakes, its not likely we land suter next year at all if he isnt re-signed by then. you basically have to suck a players dick to get them now as seen with richards. gotta trade. no way smith goes with 2 first rounders and fil. smith is worth one of those. i think Fil, Kindl 2 first rounders is more reasonable. Fil, Kindl, Nyquist, 1st rounder, 3rd rounder Fil, Hudler, Kindl, 1st rounder Anyone who says fil and kindl are scraps are complete idiots. i would also explore: Abby, Hudler, Ericsson + a pick. im pretty disappointed at this point. we had the money, there were good players out there, and now we have to settle for the scraps? call me crazy, but i expected at least ONE biggish signing/trade this offseason considering rafi leaving and all our cap space and what happens? Ericsson overpayed, commodore, and re-signing eaves, miller. thats dope...

yep i agree that its gonna cost a lot. but its a price we gotta pay at some point. id rather take one of these premium guys now. do you think ericsson could possibly be moved even? i'd be okay Kindl, Nyquist, 2 firsts but i doubt kenny will give 2 firsts. i'd be ecstatic with Kindl, Hudler, Nyquist, 2012 first round pick. its pretty much a guarantee that next year's first will be a late one with lids in the lineup. so id be good with that. i wouldn't give up smith for anything but doughty or weber.

I agree with everything you said about yandle's situation, but bogo is an RFA as well and hasn't signed either, they are kinda in the same boat at this point.... maybe yandle would be more willing to leave considering the fact that PHX is tanking...

no quarrel intended. how does that make yandle more attainable? he would be much more expensive imo.

the reason i think bogo would be good is that because hes not as established as yandle, we could prolly get him at a lower cap hit and for less assets through trade. he's probably just as good as yandle in the future. and he has a right shot that we need.

lol. if he's planning on previous successes to get him through this, he's not getting my approval. its not like the leafs are cool with not winning the cup anymore just because they won it a lot of times in the past. you have to constantly strive to improve. i want my gm to be greedy and try to hoard as much talent as he can, not "see" whats around the corner...

THIS. and i can see bogo asking for more than he's worth. but for us, if we can get him long term, it may be overpayment at first, but as he is only 20, its likely that that contract would be a bargain as he develops. Smith,Bogo for the next 10-15 years and kronner and stewie for the next 5-7 years sounds good to me. ericsson can either bring it or leave at this point. Ladd is captain, i see him getting a 5mill or so cap hit. wheeler i can see around 3-4mill.

at this point, if he did play gm for us, we'd all take the chance to rip him apart, i know i would. but all in fun just returning the favour.

yandle would be great. but id rather have bogo at this point. call me crazy (which you will) but i think the combo of his right shot, size, and youth (20) makes him very appealing. I think Phx will want more for Yandle (a number 1 guy) than WPG will want for Bogosian, and WPG has a pretty good d without him as well and PHX doesn't. I can also see yandle wanting a bigger cap hit than bogo... Regardless, id be happy with either long term. we don't have much choice but to pay up.

IF we traded fil and hudler then ya, gagne is an awesome addition, kinda like a second franzen in that he scores a s*** ton. and hopefully they both stay healthy. So theoretically if Fil, Huds went in some package for bogo i think gagne is the best option to pick up.
