for some reason im not a bieksa fan. i know i should be but im not... kinda got that "bust" feeling for some reason. i like wiz a little better. either would be awesome though. i also think we need to leave a 1 year contract in the d to make room for smith when hes ready next season (if not this season). this means sign 2 dmen (Wiz, Bieksa) to mid length deals and one veteran to a 1 year deal. blackhawks cup blitz baby. just do it. no, in all seriousness, tatar may be ready to fill in a top six spot the following year. i also see patrick sharp is set to be a ufa if not signed..... but i don't see lids doing another year after this unless we win the cup. even then its less likely. i have a feeling rafi retiring kinda roped him into coming back this year a bit, along with other things.

okay, so im pretty sure kenny said he would give smith every opportunity to make the team. it COULD happen this year. its up to smith to prove, he hasn't been written off by any chance. simon gagne is also in play. ive read that he'd take a lower pay for maybe a year to prove he can stay healthy and put up points and then go for a bigger contract after. but thats speculation and we dont really need a left wing...

if u read the post i said trade kindl. and ya, smith would have to make the team, but i think itd be a great opportunity for lids to mentor him, and pairing him with a safe solid guy like stuart would be good for his development. why the hell would kenny not make a run at richards? its his job to make the team better. we have the cap space to sign 2 top dmen and richards, why not? who were you going to spend it on? theres a chance richards would be interested in a move to a team like detroit, not the biggest payday available... do you see a gaping weakness in the roster i proposed other than perhaps smith? theres money to sign a UFA at 2mill if you remove smith. its my "dream roster" so ya, its my opinion. not everyone has to like it.

bettmans a total f***tard. thats the worst idea. hoard all the best teams in the eastern divisions and only allow 4 per division to make the playoffs? f*** that. the divisions involving the teams from the south and the west are gonna be so s***ty and they make the playoffs over better teams....

My dream roster. Fits well within the cap. Add some money here and there. Thats some mad o and d depth. Would mean trading Fil and Kindl+ and ending up with burns. its only one trade im proposing... hopefully that doesn't offend anyone. I think helm is a weapon and needs to be used more often on the opposition d so i have him on the 3rd line. and abby now has a solid place as 4th line center. CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR FORWARDS Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Jaromir Jagr ($2.000m) Daniel Cleary ($2.800m) / Brad Richards ($7.200m) / Johan Franzen ($3.954m) Todd Bertuzzi ($1.937m) / Darren Helm ($0.912m) / Patrick Eaves ($0.900m) Drew Miller ($0.750m) / Justin Abdelkader ($0.787m) / Tomas Holmstrom ($1.875m) Jan Mursak ($0.550m) / Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m) / Brent Burns ($3.550m) Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.200m) / James Wisniewski ($4.500m) Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Brad Stuart ($3.750m) Doug Janik ($0.512m) GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) / Brian Boucher ($0.925m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,546,211; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,753,789 Note: since Holland passed up richards and carter, im fully expecting him to go after brad richards on a shorter term deal (ideally 3-4 years). if not, im gonna be pissed as any of these guys will make the team better and we have the money. we could really use a guy like richards to feed franzen and cleary and free up dats and z a bit. the line combos would blow my mind. EDIT: just looking at that roster gets me jacked up. seriously, f***.

if im a flyers fan i just killed myself.
-
WTF? this pisses me off. We coulda offered Fil, Tatar, First rounder for Richards. Where was Kenny on this one?
-
agreed. if we did do burns, it would HAVE to be after the 2011 draft due to his current contract. he cannot be moved before july 1 I believe. this would force us to trade next years first rounder.
-
yeyeyeyeyeyeyeye

Id give up Fil, Kindl, 2012 first rounder for Burns + 2012 3rd rounder OR Franzen, Kindl, future considerations for Burns + 4th rounder 2012 I'd also try to work Hudler into both of these deals. I think a dman must go back and kindl is best option with smith almost ready. Once again, I'm not saying this will happen, ahhemmmm crymson, im just answering his question about the price we could offer.
-
it would make sense to have future considerations in picks as burns cant be traded before the draft anyways. this means that if detroit makes the playoffs or something, then they have a s***ty first rounder next season and then they would be obligated to add another pick to that to sweeten it up and bring the value back up.

how is jagr any different? other than the fact that hes 39... which will only increase his laziness. i think a guy like zherdev would be a good project. potential is definitely there.
-
first off: we (at least in my case) just tease you about your line threads. its not like i want you to stop posting them, its just fun to tease cause ur so enthusiastic about them . simply put id say no to the lineup. d is not solid enough with a smith-ericsson pairing (would be real shaky in the playoffs) and neither likes the right side much. does jagr have 82 games in him plus the playoffs? probably not. This lineup has cup winner all over it though: Note: u could sub in Jagr for Zherdev in your case and pay a little less as well. This would be barring a trade with Fil, Kindl in a package with prospect/ picks for Burns... FORWARDS Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Nikolai Zherdev ($2.500m) Daniel Cleary ($2.800m) / Brad Richards ($7.200m) / Johan Franzen ($3.954m) Todd Bertuzzi ($1.937m) / Darren Helm ($0.912m) / Patrick Eaves ($0.900m) Tomas Holmstrom ($1.875m) / Justin Abdelkader ($0.787m) / Jan Mursak ($0.550m) Drew Miller ($0.700m) / Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m) / Brent Burns ($3.550m) Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.200m) / James Wisniewski ($4.500m) Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Brad Stuart ($3.750m) Doug Janik ($0.512m) GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) / Brian Boucher ($0.925m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,996,211; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,003,789

ya thats the impression i got too.

with the cap going up to 64 mill and barring a trade for Burns involving Flip, Kindl, and whatever else and im trading hudler for whatever. Note: although im not a Jagr in detroit fan, u could substitute him for zherdev. I think Helm is ready to be a 3rd line center and i do like that 3rd line a lot. 4th line has lots of options for the younger guys and Homer, obvs Homer would get some time on the top line. I think Stuart is the perfect guy for Smith to grow alongside as stewie is solid and won't put smith in awkward situations often. This year may be lids' last one, so i'd actually like Smith up witht the big team to be mentored by Lids. but hey, thats just me. theres some wiggle room there of 1mill to toss around between wis and richards. ideally we'd reserve 0.5mill. This is also sustainable to next year with lids' contract likely going to re-sign burns, kronner, stuart. and helm and abby getting raises from the retirement of bert, homer likely. THIS. Finally crymson and i agree on something.
-
thank god. no way we were filling his spot this offseason.
-
lidstrom wisniewski richards zherdev
-
ya, i was just using that as the example. im not interested either. id rather have zherdev. but even still, i don't really want him much.
-
jokinen is asset free too. and we can keep him for a while if it works out.
-
its kinda annoying that he says "ill see what they offer." who says we're gonna offer anything?
