3 point games and officiating. the 3 point games make it impossible for teams to catch up in the standings because the teams up in the standings often play to OT and both gain points on a regular basis.

honestly, i just read that article, and it said lebda was still paired with ericsson.... not good. we've seen the self distructive chemistry there. lilja will most definetly be an improvement on lebda in that pairing. I would like to see meech in instead of lebda, but i never see babcock doing that,

this is the happiest day of my life.... this week. but still, i was not expecting kronner back tomorrow, and I for sure didnt expect the lilja news so the whole lilja thing was true then. it wasn't a mistake. Im pumped that franzen might be back before the olympic break cause im going to the game on the weekend before the break against ottawa and i might get to see the mule out there.

yea, need homer back now. we are missing that net pressence big time. kronwall will be a big boost too. i dont know about j williams. i want to like him cause hes from my home town, but i think he will take a long time to heat up.

5-2 (Pavs, Fil, Big E, Leino, Z EN)

i really don't think there is pressure on leino to score. babcock has been saying this all along. leino thinks he's playing bad cause hes not scoring. babcock just wants effort and then the scoring will come as a result eventually. look at eaves and miller as examples of this. leino has the talent to score, its just not happening without some elbow grease.

i gotta admit... i hoped leino would have a breakout season. however, unlike other rookies who often put up big numbers in their first year and then cool off a bit for year or two, this can't happen with leino. he can only get better. I really like him in theory, it just seems that he is really not strong enough. the talent is there. he even has shown a bit of belief in himself in the last game. its tough on his confidence when he is constantly scratched in favor of may, who is the exact opposite of him in playing style. i think the worst thing would be not playing well and then everyone around you saying that your job is in jeopardy, and not being able to prove yourself regularly (he keeps getting scratched). Thats why i think babcock has thrown him in the lineup the last few games.

funny how bertuzzi now has more penalty minutes than may... even though he plays more than may, you wouldn't expect that...

just throwing this out there.... maybe leino only shows up for the playoffs.... who knows. I think babcock threw him in the shootout to give him the chance to be a hero for once and win a game, see if he has the stones. i was screeming for number 51 to shoot after leino, i wanted leino 4th cause i wanted to see him win the game (which was his best of the season) and see if he had the ability to deal with the pressure and get some praise from his team and the media for once.

leino!!! shoulda had one there. hes in this game, hes been in the box, and almost scored. i've seen him more in that period than the last 10 games hes played. he really needs a goal for his confidence. finally bert converts on a breakaway. thank you.

i knew bertuzzi's penalty would lead to a goal... what ever happened to not taking useless penalties in the offensive zone. bert is king of that and babcock will rip him to shreds later. idk guys, leino wasnt terrible today. not that he was good. i was surprised when i saw him out there in the first period, and was surprised to see him battling for pucks a bit in the first. still no good. but better than before. i personally feel robbed after this one, sick to the stomach. what's it gonna take for a win? kronwall, franzen, holmstrom, williams? come on.

leino is the only forward without shot today... hes had a good 7 minutes too. bert needs to score sometime on these short breaks.... hes been getting a couple a game since the game against the canes, not putting them in the net.... we are controlling play though and shutting ovi out, good effort so far

jeeze that was such a dirty slash on berts. solid game, but detroit had many opportunities to score tonight and only put 3 in. still happy with the solid win though. good to see lids and Z put the puck in the net.
