Its different because Russia is the home team. Great expectations. I'm not saying Dats isn't injured - I just think he would be playing right now if he didn't have the olympics. Z has an obligation to lead this team as a captain regardless of being olympics captain.

Z is the captain of this team - Stevie set the precedent for sucking it up. Datsyuk has the pressure of being team captain for the home team of the olympics and likely playing one of his last olympics - I'd say they are in different positions even if they had the same injury even though they don't.

I think if we can't obtain Vanek/Callahan/Moulson/Girardi AKA special players in UFA then we should just promote our youth. We might as well develop our prospects if we are bringing in middle level players. Otherwise get one/some of these special UFAs and try to make a cup run.

This HAS to have something to do with Sochi. Like come on. From what I have read its Datsyuk who has expressed discomfort but they haven't said what specific injury he has - I'd like to know if doctors can actually quantify/see the injury itself using ultrasound. Normally I wouldn't think Datsyuk the type to sit out for self preservation. But this is the last olympics he likely plays and he wears the C for the Host Nation. I'd feel pressure too to come in healthy and dominate - and I wouldn't be as upset if Z wasn't left to carry the load and go down injured.

At this rate he will be back before Datsyuk. Man I'm getting tired of this - Z literally limped through games for us until Franzen could come back.

Dats needs to find a way to get into the lineup thats why he wears an A. He can't be hurting THAT bad to be day-to-day for so long.

Quincey isn't as supportive as other dmen and turns the puck over a lot - many times DD has turned the puck over because Q didn't drop to give him an option

I'm not even mad. We played well with some boneheaded moments that lead directly to goals but we weren't out-competed. I would say if you add Z and Dats to the mix and subtract Cleary and Eaves you get a powerhouse - you don't get meltdowns with Z and Dats in. I think one problem is our 1C Franzen wasn't conditioned and didn't practice as C the last while so there were adjustments to be made. The TSJ line was awesome - loving sheahan lately and tatar just keeps bringing it - that shift in OT was awesome. Also screw the refs for missing a blatant high stick on him at the end. At least we didn't play like hot garbage without scoring. Gus could have stollen that win potentially but didn't.

Wish we could acquire gudbransson for our bottom pairing Switch helm and Franzen. Franzen is lagging and should play with slower line mates.

They are punishing the wings behind the net - need to amp up the intensity here No way franzen has the legs to play top line all game. I am worried.
