    1/26 GDT: Panthers 5 @ Red Wings 4 (SO)

As much as I love dats - i feel like this is a huge contributor. I also think Z would have sat earlier if we weren't so injured and it may have just been a one game thing to rest his back.

Z is resting now that we are getting healthy. Cleary was never sitting - lets be honest.

    Injury Updates

No surprise for me - Z has looked hampered/injured and was just hanging on until some guys got healthy being a captain. Dats will be back soon and Z will rest his back for the olympics.

Trade Andersson keep Sheahan? That would work cap-wise.

Took management only half a season to realize what the fans believed all along.

1/24 GDT: Canadiens 1 at Red Wings 4

I don't see how babs can justify putting Bert in next game. This is the most complete game I have seen all season probably and we didn't even have datsyuk. Holland should think long and hard about moving salary to keep Sheahan and Glendening around and even Jurco.

So when would you make a move and what type?

If we can get him down to Kronwall level salary when he re-signs I think he would be a great pairing for DD to play with. Leaves Smith and Lashoff for bottom pair for now. Green was given that contract when he put up huge numbers but isn't earning it anymore.

We would need to add a 1st. Unless green is a UFA i have no idea.

Agreed. Andersson has been surpassed by these guys. Glendening grinds and is a pest. Sheahan is playing outstanding and is producing while making people around him better. Also a bigger body and faster skaters.

    JT - so complete.

    Turning point!?!?!

Bert doesn't back check for s***. He is very weak defensively because he doesn't work hard. When he is out with Z or Dats it doesn't show much but when he plays with Andersson or Sheahan it shows and they get pinned in the zone for long stretches.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Alfredsson Nyquist - Weiss - Franzen Tatar - Helm - Abdelkader Miller - Sheahan - Glendening Ferraro Callahan Trade Andersson for whatever - he is expendable. After next year Alfie retires and Jurco takes his roster spot

Holland dreads the day - it is in his nightmares - just keep denying the need to make a move.

    Almqvist or Backman

Almquist just doesn't have the physical skills necessary to be a consistent NHL player in my mind. Realistically he likely won't be a Krug or Boyle type guy but I'll admit it is possible of course. Backman has more of a natural body type for the NHL where he can compete physically with bigger players. He also produces pretty well so far in the SHL. These factors make Backman the safer bet.

    Injury Updates

Oh for god's sake Datsyuk! If its just a matter of conditioning you are still more effective at 80% than 99% of the players in the NHL. My heart bleeds for datsyuk to be on the ice again.

    Leaders need to be leaders

The biggest problem is all the leaders watching from the dressing room nursing injuries.
