My boy Nyquist has been pretty invisible lately. Honestly think Sheahan is the real deal and looks the most ready of Jurco/Nyquist/Sheahan tonight.
-
I never got that feeling we were going to beat King Henrik the way he showed up this game. I was really hoping to get to OT and see how the chips fall but too bad.
-
That was bound to happen
-
This team is literally depleted. I used to think 3-4 guys out at once was pretty bad. This is horrendous. Babs is just taking it like a man and icing a roster.
-
I can only attribute these injuries to players having to play "up" to a level/line they are not accustomed to and getting injured? Helm was 2C and got injured (normally 3C). Same with Andersson. Alfie was being leaned on heavily. Deke was expected to be a No.3. Ericsson a top pairing dman. And these guys just aren't built for that kind of gameplay.
-
Kinda wish Helm would piss or get off the pot. I'd rather he plays slightly injured at this point because even returning at full health he goes down a couple games later with something. I'm just frustrated with all the groins.
-
Jurco was playing great before and shouldn't have been sent back last time imo. We were never pressed for cap due to E being IR - Sammy should have been sent down as we didn't even need the cap help. I might be wrong on this cap situation but I'm pretty sure we were fine. With all the injuries I would have liked to see Sammy sit and Jurco play the entire time. Thats just me - I know babs needs that RH shot on PP2 to hunt shin pads.

5 years? More like: Mantha C??? Jurco Tatar Jarnkrok Nyquist Abby Helm Pulkkinen Athanasiou Sheahan Nastasiuk Athanasiou at least makes the 4th line with his wheels. Sheahan may very well be much more than a 4th line C but at worst that is where he gets. Jarnkrok will be a 2C (I know it doesn't look like it now with his point totals). No way Nyquist or Tatar disappear in Ken Holland's world. The guy isn't trading anyone (look at recent history). I think Callahan makes the team next year as an extra forward just like Ferraro - but I don't see them being career Wings necessarily. Glendening will be another guy that is on the team for a while but is eclipsed when new guys emerge.
-
Oh dear god no. Can we start a petition somehow to gain Holland's attention to the massive mistake he would be making? This would be absolutely atrocious. Cleary hasn't even earned his current contract. He can join the organization in another fashion and make money that way - I would love dan for that, but if he thinks (and gets) a longer and more expensive contract I will hide in a closet for the duration. I actually thought the other day about what a team would be like if it was somewhat managed by fan voting - in the end it makes the masses happy and sells more tickets - a team with well-versed fans that watch their team avidly might actually do a decent job. Other markets this would be a disaster.

I'd like them to trade our 1st this year to a desperate team for a 1st next year. Next year we trade 2 firsts to move way up to get a 1C prospect. Its not like we need quantity at this point - we need a quality 1st line C prospect and that won't come where we draft without trading up. Alternatively, if we move a piece for another 1st at the deadline (i dunno who) we could try something like this this year potentially too. We desperately lack that 1C in the system and this is the best and least expensive way to get one.
-
Moulson would be a great addition - but i think he gets dealt for picks at the deadline and that team goes on to re-sign him.

Winnipeg Jets relieve coach Claude Noel and assistant Perry Pearn

I hope to god weiss changes that number - it is terrible. On another note - do you see a guy in the future like Mantha wearing 91 at some point? -
Would you trade Jimmy for a top pairing dman?
dirtydangles replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
Jimmy for Bogosian? WPG needs goaltending we need top pairing RHDman. Can't really gauge value here. -
Z looks hurt to me. He was stretching his back before face-offs last game - i think he is holding on until dats comes back then he will go down - i hope I'm wrong
-
Of course Cleary sits before Andersson. But as a 4th line C when everyone is healthy Sheahan would be a beast rather than Andersson. Also, for those saying Andy can PK - people forget how good Sheahan's PK skills are.
-
Sheahan needs to stick in the nhl. Andersson can sit when we get healthy
-
Despite last night I don't have high hopes for this one - we are decimated, playing second game of a back to back, and in the barn of the best team in the league statistically... But lets go wings!
-
He trails the play on the PK consistently - he is late to his point and then the dman has to step up and it leaves us open down low. He doesn't have the wheels to back check very well even though he does put the effort in trying to (unlike bert). And yes, considering his minutes and line mates he is s*** offensively (even though last night he scored).
-
If Callahan never pulls on a Red Wings sweater for a regular season game then I have lost faith in what this organization is trying to do. Develop kids and let them walk so we can play washed up cleary, sammy, bert over them? This kid has worked his tail off and put up the numbers to at least earn a look.
-
The young guys have already proven they are more effective in the NHL than cleary. Sheahan has been great, Jurco has produced, Glendening is all over the ice doing good things. If Cleary is re-signed I will likely light on fire from so much anger inside. I don't see how Ferraro isn't an improvement on him next year despite not playing an NHL regular season game yet.
-
Andersson will be made expendable by Sheahan and Glendening. Ferraro can play right wing as an Eaves replacement and has more wheels. Andersson has pretty much reached his potential due to his slow skating (not ideal for 4th line crash and bang duty considering Helm is locked in at 3rd line C). I'd be happy with a 3rd for Andersson at this point. He doesn't really make our team better in any way - Sheahan and Glendening and Ferraro can all PK like he can.
-
I'm guessing Babs wants Mrazek to get lit up instead of Howard in Anaheim so that Howard can keep his confidence.
-
I agree. I like the idea of having youth, speed, and physicality in the bottom 6. We have the worst bottom 6 identity of any Wings team I can remember. Currently we are playing slow, aging, and soft players in the bottom 6. Those kids would relish the opportunity to go hard for the duration of the 4th line minutes and try to earn their playing time. A bottom 6 next year of this would be awesome in terms of energy and effort - with some young guys developing on the 4th line: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Alfie? Nyquist-Weiss-Franzen Tatar-Helm-Abby Miller-Sheahan-Ferraro Glendening, Callahan (rotating in on a fair basis with Ferraro and Glendening)
-
Was there at least a fine?
-
Tatar won't be on the 3rd for long - i see the 2nd line becoming Miller-Abby-Tatar. Bert is gonna be exposed in this game - he has no D capabilities without Z or Dats and his lines typically get pinned for extended periods. Same goes for Sammy. We would be far better with 3 lines: Nyquist-Zetterberg-Alfredsson Miller-Abby-Tatar Andersson-Glendening-Eaves Bench/PP use: Bertuzzi, Sammy, Cleary (babs would be butthurt)
