We have prospects - many prospects - with so little space. We have draft picks as well. Put in one of the players you listed for cap reasons and you have something that could resemble a package for a player (not a top player but one that can help).

With our current assets and logjam you'd think any other GM would look at making a move perhaps to help our D a bit. Holland will sit and ponder up until the day the DD is healthy then panic and trade Tatar for a 3rd.

I hadn't thought of that... Ideally we want Weiss to get going at 2C but maybe that would work for now. Its balanced for sure.

Still sad to see Dats with Bert and Cleary. Bert's career is over if he isn't playing with two great players on the line with him. Cleary is done as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sorry but I don't see the Wings putting up more than 3 goals realistically. Lets hope that gets us the win.

I'm sure there would be takers if we retained salary. If we traded sammy and retained every penny of his salary except for the 950000 for nyquists contract and offered a 3rd round pick with him for a 7th I'm sure a team would do it. Holland just doesn't value Nyquist's development as much as a 3rd round pick apparently.

If we could somehow move out Kindl in a package for Girardi and re-sign him I think we would be better off in terms of balance on D. Having said that - I agree completely that there is no place for Q on this team going forward considering our current D is young and we have at least 3 surefire NHL dmen coming up the pipeline in the next year or two.

I think Holland will have to learn from this season that he can't sign guys like Q who are not top talent to any more than 1 year deals. If XO, Sproul, and Backman develop any more we will have another nyquist situation on our hands with no place in the D for them to play. THIS. End thread.

f*** babs... honestly Nyquist knows that he needs to perform - babs doesn't need to publicly announce this s***. He is only putting more pressure. Babs has no ******* clue how to motivate kids versus vets. Kids just need opportunity (and not be pressured heavily with the threat of imminent failure). Cleary might respond to some threats babs... try them on him next time instead of benching him for 1 game with no change.

At least babs changes things up when they are going poorly - holland just rolls with the same stale roster as always.

This. In 3 years we won't have the firepower to be a contender. We will look a lot like Nashville at this rate. Surefire D prospects in Sproul, Backman, XO (could argue a few others), along with Current Dmen will make our D insanely good. Unless Jarnkrok and Sheahan both become top 6 centres we are screwed. We desperately need a sure-thing at centre in our prospect system. 3 years from now Dats is gone and Z is on the wrong side of 35. If I were Holland I would think long and hard about trading up this or the next draft to try to draft a future top line centre - if that means moving some of our good D prospects then so be it because we have enough.

Holland should be featured on a season finale of the show "Hoarders." The guy just wants every prospect safely developing outside the NHL.

I think we will see Andersson moved next if we can't make the cap work - despite Cleary having zero on-ice contribution to the team and being an old dog with few good days left compared to Andersson. Ideally we would waive Cleary to make it work with Nyquist up. What I hope is that Nyquist doesn't get just one game and if he doesn't blow up they send him back down. I could see that happening.

Mantha looks a lot like Franzen out there. Doesn't look too interested. Took a dumb penalty too.

Babs doesn't realize that this strategy only works short term. He thinks that if a line scores a goal they should stick together but sometimes its just the other team ******* up and not chemistry. Realistically he needs to leave the lines ALONE and let people get comfortable rather than mixing and matching all day. Players should be put where they belong - AKA cleary should be nowhere in the top 6 ever again.

And thanks to Dan Cleary making our team better Tootoo and Eaves lost their jobs and Nyquist sat in GR. How can Holland justify that.
