I'd assign sammy to Toledo - he would waive his NTC so fast to avoid playing there. Because he doesn't have a NMC he can still be sent down I believe. Hopefully someone would claim him when we send him down. The guy doesn't have ALL the leverage and Holland can make him rot in Toledo while he earns that extra money and screws our cap.

A lot of people hope that Abby will become a Dustin Brown type - but I just dont see it happening. He just doesn't have offensive instincts. I would love to see him slot in on the 3rd/4th line and be a defensively responsible player that just shuts down opposing 3/4 lines and plays the body HARD finishing every check. We need to wear on our opponents a little more than we have been lately. If you throw abby on the 1st line the opposition will leave him open and just work on Z and Dats as Abby poses little offensive threat - Alfie/Franzen at least pose that threat that they can snip from most areas of the ice and require attention - they will let abby shoot all day if it means Z/Dats don't.

I predict that if we stay healthy and Z gets to adjust back to LW with Dats at C we will see Z put up 30 goals this season. I'll also predict Weiss hitting 60 points with talented wingers. All of this hinges on Helm's health and staying healthy to allow our Centre depth to move Z to wing. I HOPE Franzen senses that 2nd amnesty buyout could be for him next offseason and plays like he wants to keep his job.

Something else that people haven't mentioned I think is that he can be very useful in the shootout - goes backhand fivehole like a boss

I'd love him - but I'd hate the cost to trade for him.

Brunner turned US down. He got 2 and 3 year offers. I'm sure they were fair. Kenny went out and got replacements. IF we get Cleary or Morrow and not Brunner THEN we can be angry at Kenny.

Weiss is a great player - id say 99% of wings fans at least knew of him.

We would have to move quality of course. I would be happy to land Bogo but its gonna start with Nyquist/Tatar and likely Smith/DeKeyser then add a high pick (I dont know how I feel about that). Then we have to find the salary space to sign him by convincing them to take a cap dump like Sammy somehow.

We will trade SOMEBODY. I'm sure someone out there would take Tootoo, Emmerton or Eaves possibly.

Ryan is a goal scorer. But I don't think we should freak out that we didn't overpay to get him. We would have had to BEAT the offer that OTT made.

Agreed. Weiss has out-produced him consistently except for Fil's one good season. We ended up signing the better player for less.

THIS. Stop ripping on holland when you don't know the facts. Brunner decided to test the market so holland went out and protected the team. Its okay to rip on holland if you don't respect that but not because he didn't try.

Cleary is batman. We all hate him - he is old and can't do s*** anymore thanks to his body taking a grind - but he still suits up and takes the beating nonetheless.

We need to start a thread of facts that people need to read before posting. People keep saying Nyquist and Tatar can play in GR but they are out of options. People still think we can bury guy's contracts - not true. People still think amnesties are only for people with salary over 3mill - not true. People still think we can amnesty a player this year - not true, have to wait till next year. People hate on holland for not buying out sammy - sammy blocked that by saying he is injured and can't be bought out.
