As the commissioner, Bettman is at least partially responsible for ensuring the quality of the officials and the integrity of the game.

Mike Leggo is the ref that overruled the closer ref's no-goal call when he thought Ott's shootout attempt was over the line, causing the "inconclusive" video evidence to fall back to a good goal. That's only one regular season game, but I was pretty mad at him. That was the same game where there were multiple high sticks right in front of the refs, and obvious goaltender interference on the Stars' tying goal.

Anybody see this in a substantially different way? EDIT: I know one call is missing, I'm too lazy to see which one and add it. (1) D Slashing - This was actually Howard; Bertuzzi just served the penalty. I didn't see it, but I heard it was a tap on the leg after being run into/snowed by the Sharks player. That kind of stuff happens all the time - Bogus (2) D Goaltender Interference - I agree. Totally bogus. Nabby initiated contact, and it was outside the crease - Bogus (3) SJ Slashing - Don't remember this one, so I'll agree - Legitimate (4) D Cross check - Happens all the time in every game against Holmstrom and never gets called - Marginal (5) SJ Boarding - I definitely agree - Bogus (6) D Goaltender Interference - While it might be consistent with how they've been calling it, I don't agree with the call - Bogus (7) D Interference - Agree, this one was valid (although I thought it was embellished too) - Legitimate (8) SJ Interference - Don't remember this one - I'll call it marginal since he called it tight (9) D Holding - Agree; horrible call. Along with the next one led to the 5-3 power play - Bogus (9b) D Hooking - This is the missed one (on Kronwall) - legitimate (10) D Slashing - Hard to not call this one since he broke the stick, but in my opinion, he was trying to play the puck - Legitimate/Marginal (11) D Tripping - Don't remember this one, so I'll agree - Legitimate (12) SJ Goaltender Interference - I'm not sure why it was worse than the first one, but I agree - Bogus (13) D Too many men on the ice - Can't argue with it - Legitimate So I get: Detroit: Valid: 4-5, Marginal: 1-2, Bogus: 4 San Jose: Valid: 1, Marginal: 1, Bogus: 2 I also remember seeing an obvious tripping and interference call against the Sharks that were missed. The trip was during a Detroit power play, so it would have given us a 5 on 3 for about 30-60 seconds, I think. Edit: I've also ignored all the diving, since that's apparently not a penalty anymore (except when Helm loses an edge, falls, and gets right back up and into the play).

Exactly. There were some horrible calls against the Red Wings in game 7 against the Coyotes (including a non-goal from a quick whistle), but they still won 6-1. The Wings looked tired, especially at the beginning of the game, which is what I was expecting after a quick turn-around from game 7. It's just one game, and we've seen how they bounced back after every bad game in the previous series. It is unfortunate that the game winning goal was on a questionable 5-3 power play, but going down 0-3 in the first period played at least as big of a role in the loss. Even if they had made it to overtime, there's no guarantee they would have won.

I don't think goaltender interference is reviewable.
-
I think that was hyperbole.
-
Exactly. There's no way there's a league-wide conspiracy. I do think some refs make assumptions about certain players that can affect calls (O'Halloran and Holmstrom), but I don't think it's intentional. Sometimes they just suck at their job.

That's awesome. I didn't know you could organize the highlight videos like that. It must have been a lot of work making the diagrams though.

Cool. Where did you get the data from?

Where did you get that?

This is one of the most asinine things I've ever read.

Wings-Coyotes Official Schedule Announced

At least your priorities are right! -
I agree, but there's a pretty consistent losing trend for teams in the East Only three have winning records against the West. Several others have above .500 by points because of OTLs. Compare that to the west where there's a consistent winning trend. Nine teams have winning records against the East, and almost all of them are .500 or above by points. The only teams that aren't are the Stars and the Oilers. There's not a huge difference, but the overall trend is pretty hard to ignore.
-
Part of the reason teams like Washington can clean up in the East though is that there aren't as many good teams. Only a few EC teams have winning records against WC teams, but more than half of the WC teams have winning records against the East. Washington and Buffalo have the best records in the East against the West, and they are only 10-5-3. That's 1 point worse than Minnesota's EC record. I'm not saying they are worse teams than Minnesota, but in general, the WC teams are beating the EC teams.

It's the plural of "mister".

Maybe that was our make-up call.

I honestly have no idea which way it should have gone (I wouldn't be surprised if they called it inconclusive and went with the initial call), but I'll definitely take it considering how many goals we've had taken away this season, some of which cost us at least a point in the standings. The NHL owes us a couple goals.

Teams that Should Have Never Changed their Jerseys

I don't think they look bad, I just can't get elves out of my mind when I see them. -

I don't have an opinion on what they should be wearing, but the Wild's home jersey makes them look like elves.
