After watching the game last night it made me even more excited for the season. The boys seem refreshed and watching Dats and Z together reminded me of years past. It was also good to see Toronto, who despite the score, moved the puck around pretty well and showed some very good qualties. IMO when they add Schenn and JS they should be in a good position to grab a play off spot. Would be nice to see an original 6 team play better than they have, their bottom of the conference days may be over....

Even though I am still partial to home (Detroit), i've been in Dallas for almost 5 years now and Texas is pretty nice....minus the rediculous heat/humidity. Out of all the major Texas cities I think that Austin is the nicest; it really gives you the layed back southern "Texas" feel yet has a ton of stuff to do. If you or any of the other members are coming to Dallas for a game be sure to let NotTooAbby or I know, we go to every game when the boys are in town. We have a pre-game ritual of goin to the Hooters that is about 4 blocks from teh rink, the place is packed and is about 50/50 Wings to Stars fans. Dallas fans are pretty fun to be around, not rude and obnoxious like Chicago fans so the whole experience would be great for anyone willing to make the trip. Welcome to Texas and I third the notion to try Dickeys and Rudy's BBQ.

Bought a house down here in Texas in early may, my primary goal since I moved in was to get my Red Wings man cave complete (and my girlfriend has been surprisingly supportive). This room will serve as the media room, movies , NHL 10age, and of course Wings games come October. The room is about done for the time being and I think it turned out pretty good, as years pass and new items are obtained they will be added as well. The only thing that needs to be added is a goal horn for the room, whenever my dad can get back down here from Michigan he has an idea on how to hook it up. I'll try to get some pics posted to see what you guys think and if you have any ideas.

Alright so the Stars fans that I work with (I am in Dallas) just told me that they heard on a Dallas sports radio station that Mike is going to be throwing out the first pitch at the Tigers game tonight, in a Wings sweater. Anyone heard anything about this being a done deal????

Not a bad thing here, however I think there are many of us who would like to see him be more physical like he was in Vancouver. This year he had countless opportunities to finish checks but chose not to, If we can get Tuzz to start finshing those checks I think it could be an intimidation factor. I don't want the punch to the back of the head Bertuzzi back but I would like to see him wrecking some bodies, and an occasional goal would be nice.

Its one thing to replace an injured player with J Will but you dont put a guy on the power play who doesn't even have a secure roster spot just because he shoots right handed....

There are many good points here, none are better than the fact the TEAM had not played well as whole and that they seem like they don't care. Buuuuut if we are going to talk defense then I just have to ask what everyone sees in Ericsson and Lilja????? Now dont get me wrong I don't believe Lebda is better but when you sign a defenseman who is 6'5" 225lbs (Ericsson) or 6'3" 220lbs (Lilja) you expect them to play like they are. Neither of these guys plays big, they dont hit (probably cause they are slow and not agile enough to line up a hit) and they rarely shoot. These two should be wrecking heads as a pair, teams should be skating around scared but instead they know that these two aren't gonna hit, they will just chase you around. I like Lilja I really do and he is a decent defenseman but I really dont see much use for Ericsson on the NHL level and I just plain dont get how he is seen by some as the future of our defensive core....I hope he surprises me and makes me eat my words but right now he is just a VERY large waste of space.

I think I woke up and just watched us playing in mid December form, that performance was P A Thetic. Hopefully its out of our system and we get it together

And remember when at a game at the Joe, focus all of you energy and spirit for the Wings. MAke it all about our team and don't even pay attention to their fans. This guy sounds like a Chicago fan, ever go to a game there?? all they do is chant Detroit sucks or try to get us Wings fans, I ask a guy one day if they ever cheer for their own team or if they always just cheer against our team?......he had no response. Let this round begin because all of us have been waiting since June for this time of year, GO WINGS!

He's a solid center who would stand out on most teams, we as Wings fans always try to compare new or young guys to Hank or Dats and thats not fair to them. He has the potential to producemore than he has been and I think we will see it in years to come.

Games that go in to OT and/or shootout are usually good, hard fought team games that should not be ended by individual skills. Are shootouts entertaining: yes, is the point system jacked up: yes. I wouldn't say that shootouts are the problem but I really hate seeing games ended that way.
