Fuuuuu... Glad I'm only a part-time Kings fan; this is a tad on the devastating side. Well, good luck, Kings...you're gonna need it.

Nice win!! That sucks about Howard, especially on his birthday, but MacDonald will do fine, I'm sure. Howie's really gonna need a drink tonight for sure. Whine of the night: Gawwwwd, McCreary just had to get in one last parting "F-U" before he buggered off, though, didn't he? All my sarcasm is used up; I don't even know what to say anymore. Oh, and one last thing: LOL @ Lebda.

3/21 GDT: Penguins 5 at Red Wings 4 (SO)

I WAS THERE, I WAS THERE!!! Sorry, just got back from Detroit on Thursday and had to come in and gloat. Hot dang that was a fun game! If I had to go to a loss, that was the way to do it! Yes!! I was saying my prayers all week long, hoping that Modano would get a goal while I was there, and I just about lost it and definitely scared the crap out of the kids next to me when he did get it. And not only did he get a goal, but it was the game-tying goal. Holy Mo-ly. (You know I'm excited when the lame-o puns start to roll out.) -
Gooo Wings! I am back on the West Coast and nowhere near the Joe, so maybe they'll win this time. (Can't complain, though...the Pens game was sick!)

Back from the D! Had a great time. I haven't uploaded all my pics yet, so I don't have a big selection, but here's one of me and my dad at Cheli's Chili: My dad doesn't believe in jackets, heh.

I would agree. I'm here in San Diego, CA, and I like it for the replays and being able to record games on the DVR (since I work when the games usually come on). They do black out Ducks and Kings games, but I still get to see them on the local Fox Sports channel (except when they're on FSN West Plus, which my cable company refuses to carry, but that's a unique problem). Another downside is that they black out games shown on the NHL Network, so if you don't get that, you don't get to watch the game, period. If you don't get the nearest team's games on a local channel, though, I'd go with luvmnger's suggestion and get DirecTV. I've never had it, but if they don't black out any games, that sounds like a winner. If I'm reading their website right, it looks like you get the actual FSD channel 24/7 too, not just for Wings games. As for Internet feeds, they're okay in a pinch, but sometimes it cuts in and out, and a couple of times the games have been in Russian (which I understand a bit, but it gets old after a while, heh), so it's not ideal.

Rad! Nick definitely deserves a street. Darn it, I'm so close to being able to go to that, but that's the day I leave to come back here.

I do think the rules have improved, but they're more of an after-the-fact treatment than a preventative measure, and certain numbskulls don't seem to be able to think far enough ahead about what the consequences will be after they take a head shot. I'd like to see them at least give the smaller shoulder pads a try...maybe it won't be the solution, but it's worth seeing what happens. As for the rules themselves, I'd like to see them be a little harsher on repeat offenders (:cough:MattCooke:cough:). Some people just don't get the message no matter how many times you tell them "no," and there need to be consequences for flouting the rules over and over again like that.

Howard in net tonight, apparently: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2011/03/jimmy_howard_back_in_net_for_r.html Eurgh, I don't know...back to back game against a team who knows how to beat us, especially when we're down? Not feeling great about this. Nevertheless, Gooooo Wings!!

So it's Howard's fault that the Wings had to get a lucky shot to save their butts? Right. It couldn't be because the rest of the team wasted most of the three periods and could only come up with 1 goal with seconds left on the clock (well, it would've been 2, but that's life), could it? Also, I don't get why everybody's all miffed because the ONE (I repeat, one) goal he let in was a soft one. What difference would it have made if he'd let in one of the Oilers' better shots or that one, as long as he kept it to just one? Yeah, sure, he could've saved that one and got a shutout, but people in hell want ice water and all that. The rest of the team cannot rely on their goalie to post a shutout just to give them a fighting chance. They should be able to rely on him to be good, but not to stand on his head. Plus, I am not looking at the big picture for a reason; everybody here was complaining about his performance in this game, so that's what I focused on. I KNOW he has horrible stats in general - nobody here's going to deny that - but it would not have been his fault if the Wings had lost this game.
-
Cool! Hope you guys have a good time too! Hahaha, I will totally do that!
-
So Howard does one better than last time and keeps it down to one goal against, and we're STILL complaining about him? Yeah, he really sucks, doesn't he? I can't believe he let in that one whole soft goal. I mean, there's no reason he couldn't have got us a shutout so that the rest of the team could've taken the night off...what a lazy bum. Trade him.

What's that noise? Sounds like a train whistle! Is that...could it be...the stress train coming down the track? CHOO CHOO!! You bet it is. I'm on it, *******. *sigh* Man, I miss the Chief over at A2Y. He'd come up with some way to make me believe the world is not about to end, and that Janik won't suck, and that Babs' lines aren't as crazy as they seem. Guess I'll just have to do the irresponsible thing and get hammered instead.

Hi, I'm bored. What's your name? Well, one week exactly before I hit the airport and head out you guys' way...so excited! I can't wait to see the original Oscar Mayer Wienermobile at the Henry Ford Museum, hee!
-
Yes, exactly. Why let up on the gas pedal? Yeah, you've got a six-goal lead, but what better time to get some defensive practice since we obviously need it? I know Howie and the D had a great game until the last part of the 3rd, but those last 5 minutes are still more of a reason to complain than a 2-goal against game where offense seemed to be the problem, not defense.

Friday, March 11 Boston at NY Islanders Carolina at Washington Los Angeles at Columbus Edmonton at Detroit x2 Ottawa at Tampa Bay New Jersey at Atlanta Minnesota at Dallas Anaheim at Colorado Saturday, March 12 Montreal at Pittsburgh Columbus at Carolina NY Islanders at New Jersey Atlanta at Philadelphia Buffalo at Toronto Tampa Bay at Florida Detroit at St. Louis Colorado at Nashville Vancouver at Calgary NY Rangers at San Jose Sunday, March 13 Chicago at Washington Edmonton at Pittsburgh Los Angeles at Dallas Ottawa at Buffalo Phoenix at Anaheim Well, let's see how bad I can do this week. Hope my x2 doesn't bite me in the butt.

Wait, we lost 2 to 1 and we're talking about Howard? I didn't see the game (or rather I couldn't see the game), so maybe I'm missing something, but where was everybody when he let 4 goals in against the Kings last week? Yeah, we won that game, but no thanks to him. Now we only put up 1 goal in the whole game, and everybody's talking about goaltending? I mean, I'm not denying we could use some stronger goaltending - my god, we could use some stronger goaltending - but why do we only talk about it when we lose, even if the GA was pretty low? Just sayin'... Can I whine for a second? Yeah, why not. I just don't know what to do with these guys. Even when we're bad, it's not consistent. Defense sucks one night; the next nobody can score a goal to save their lives. One night Howard's okay, the next two he bombs out. Bad passes, turnovers, bad times for pinches, rookie behind-the-goal mistakes...you name it, they've done it. At this point, I'll take the s***e defense if they'll just put up some points. I was whining about the 7-4 game, but I'll take that over a loss with two goals against. Whatever, just win a few in a row for the love of Jobu!! Anyway, glad to hear Zetter's doing a little better...I worry about him. I don't know what the hell's up with Franzen; I've given up trying to figure out what his problem is. Bert's allowed to have a small cold streak since he had a small hot one a couple of weeks ago. This cold one better stay small, though.

Oops, got beat to it. Never mind.

Seriously! I was like, is that...sand...in their parking lot? I mean, I'm used to the desert, but that's weird even to me. (I don't even see the palm trees anymore, though; they're invisible to me.) Okay, let's end this road trip on a high note. The last two games were just some weird shizz, so let's just get out of the Twilight Zone and get a win.

I'll be there! I'm a little disappointed that Crosby won't be there for the Howard rematch, too, but it'll still be a great game, of course. Can't wait! I'm thinking about buying a cheap seat for the 'Nucks, too, but we'll see.

Motivation, motivation, motivation, like everybody's said. IF we play like we do on our good nights, we should at LEAST make the Conference Finals. The teams I am worried about are Nashville, who seems to have our number, SJ, who we know is dangerous against us in the playoffs (and this regular season, for that matter), and Vancouver, who is having a genuinely awesome season. We all know about the Canucks' playoffs record, but there have been times when we had a few rough seasons before making a Cup run, so I can't write them off. I don't know what to say...we have the ability, but do we have the will? (lol, watch out, I'm gonna start quoting Miracle or something in a minute here.)

Gives a whole new dimension to the word "fearless leader," hehe.

If Datsyuk was captain, though, every time he did a post game interview, he should just say, "All I do is win," and walk out. Pretty much covers it, right?
