2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils
MulesWillFly93 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I'm so darn proud of them. I've been watching them a lot over the past 3 years when the Wings had the night off, so it's nice to see good things come to people you've gotten to "know" pretty well. It's not like getting to see the Wings win a Cup, but still, when you've watched somebody put a lot of hard work into something, it's cool to see it pay off for them. I'm really glad they got to win at home, too...as much as I didn't want them to lose Game 5 at the time, now I can look back and know it happened for the best. On the subject of bandwagon fans, I'm sure they have a ton of them, but I've met enough real Kings fans to know that they're a great fanbase even if there aren't as many of them as there are Wings or Leafs fans, so I'm happy that they get to have this moment. They didn't have to be hockey fans - they're the lucky few if their parents steered them toward it - but they are by their own choice, and now they get to experience the full glory of being one. That's great to see, and makes up for all the last-second jerks who piled on for the playoffs. -
No public sale, huh? Well, crap. At least the face value is somewhat reasonable, so the price will only be semi through the roof by the time I get a hold of one.

Does Biznasty also have the name of her plastic surgeon so I can remember NOT to go there? -
Sherlock - PBS's Masterpiece Mystery!

Didn't see this thread earlier, but I love this show! I've only seen The Hounds of Baskerville and The Reichenbach Fall, but both episodes were quality! Thank god they're going to do more. -
It's going to be Zetterberg, but I'd kinda like to see Kronwall get it, too. I think Datsyuk would be great if he wanted to do it, but obviously he doesn't.

Thank you, Nick. I can't even begin to gather my thoughts on what you've meant to this fan, so I'll just leave it at that. Wish I could do better for the Perfect Human, but that's the problem - it's too hard to quantify everything that's made you perfect.

Yep. In the Cyrillic alphabet, the letter E makes a "yeh" sound, not just an "eh" sound like in ours. So you can either make it look more like Russian by putting an E, or you can make it sound more like Russian by putting a Ye.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cam Fowler in the mix somewhere...he seems like he's been doing pretty good at Worlds (I haven't been watching every single game, but just a first impression). I didn't know Callahan and Brown were American - sweeeet!! Goalie's going to be a tough decision - I think Miller's going to make a comeback, Howard will continue to be solid, and I think Quick's pretty much got it going on and will for the next few years. I'd put Quick first in line, but I wouldn't count the other two out at all. We're looking pretty good, and I'm glad we've got a lot of guys to choose from. Canada will be hard to beat, but it looks possible.

Happy Birthday, Nick!! Hope this year is a REALLY good one! (You have to come back in order to find out, though!)

Even if we did stick with the same lines next season (which probably wouldn't be disastrous, just not ideal, in my opinion), what about the year after? If Lidstrom comes back then, I've got to think he's going to slow down some, and if he doesn't, then we'll obviously really need a top tier D-man. Out of all the ones out there, I like Suter the most, and if we want Suter, we need to get him now. I do think a sniper is more of a priority, though.

Dream 2012 Stanley Cup Finals
MulesWillFly93 replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Now that you mention it, I too would like to see a Kings-Flyers final...good stuff. Haha, after the Canucks got sent home last night, I was totally predicting a Coyotes-Panthers SCF. I'd watch the heck out of that just for the weirdness of it all. -
Plus we've actually won something in the last 40 years.
-
What's blue and green and red all over?
-
Apparently he's kind of clutch, too.
-
Sharks and Pens BOTH out of the mix? Schadenfreude is at an all-time high, my friends.
-
Yeah, I hear he's pretty good...we should probably look into that. On the "a lot of players will sign with their current team" topic, I know Selanne's going to play for the Ducks if he comes back, but when I saw his name on there, that little voice in my head went "WOOO, SIGN SELANNE, TROLOLOL!!" before I could stop it. Just an idea, but what do you guys think of Jarret Stoll? Scored 20 goals this year, up from 16 the year before, plays physically, seems like he has a lot of give-a-flip-itude... He'll probably sign with the Kings again, but his name stuck out at me for a less expensive guy.

This makes me feel 1,000% better about the future. I'm so glad Babs is smelling what's cooking, and I hope that means Holland is, too. I don't have any specific suggestions for Kenny (although I'm definitely on the Suter/Parise party boat), but as long as they know they have work to do and get down to it this summer, that's enough for me.
-
It's over. I'll watch the Finals, but whatever. I guess I'd prefer an EC team that's not Pittsburgh or NJ to win, unless LA makes it...they're the only WC team I'd want to see win.

I absolutely do not think fighting is the right response to a clean hit. Would you fight after the opposing team scores a goal? Makes a pass? Changes lines? No - these are all just hockey plays. Now, I KNOW it's a little different because a hit has the potential to hurt someone, unlike those other scenarios, but still, the players signed up for hockey, not soccer, and hits are a big part of the game. I understand the need to "keep the flies off" of your star players, but that's your cue to get them back with a matching clean hit. Acting like a baby and getting all slappy over a fair hit is going to hurt your team way more than the other when you get sent to the box and they score on the PP.

#5 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins

If Crosby's number reflected the age he acts, he'd have to change it to somewhere between 05 and 09, instead of 87. -
Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

So because Zetterberg sold it and wasn't injured, that kind of play is no big deal? -

Yeah, diving is TOTALLY the problem here. Darn that Zetterberg, smashing his own head against the glass! It's an abomination! -

Does if MATTER if Hank was selling it? That's just not something you do! -
VAN/LAK: 4-1 STL/SJS: 4-3 PHX/CHI: 4-2 NSH/DET: 4-3 NYR/OTT: 4-0 BOS/WSH: 4-1 FLA/NJD: 4-1 PIT/PHI: 4-2 WC Champion: DET EC Champion: PIT SCF Champion:DET I was going to try to go with the cold and calculating choice for the WC, but then I couldn't decide between us, VAN, and STL, so I just went with the ol' favorite. Also, I hope the Kings and Coyotes put up more of a fight than I think they will.
