Now you just need a little Captain. Call it an Yzerman Slapshot or something.

Yeah, it doesn't ever seem to change, does it? Must really be gray. And Ryan's older, isn't he? Totally weird.

Yep, we're all over the place...it's definitely called Red Wing Nation for a reason! I think it's interesting how some people have moved out here from the Midwest and Canada and brought hockey and Wings Fever along with them, and then there are people like me who just randomly decided to give it a go and couldn't get enough. The passion the fans have is really impressive.

Yep, and there's plenty of red at the Suck Pond when the Wings are in town, too. I had a nice conversation with some Wings fans while in line for the restroom because almost everybody in the line had red on.

Is he going gray for sure (god, now I'm not going to able to stop saying that)? I've been trying to figure out whether it's gray hair or just wayyyy too much hair gel. It just doesn't look like anybody else's gray hair I've ever seen, ya know? Weird...

Random thought of the day: how the heck did Homer get started saying "for sure" so much? I say it a lot myself, but that's because I got it from So Cal surfer slang...somehow I doubt Homer has spent much time in California, other than at the occasional Ducks or Kings game. Whatever, dude.

Ok, am back for more! All-Stars, win! Medium camera shot, fail! (And I'm not sure who looks dorkier: Pavel with no socks, Hank with gangsta socks, or Nick with '80s socks)

Lol, that would be kinda awesome, wouldn't it? But yeah, that'd definitely put a damper in the plans if they razed the place. I hope they don't get a new one, though. I know it's kind of old, but think of the history! I don't even care about the Yankees, but I was pretty bummed that they demolished the old Yankee Stadium. Well, I think I better call it a night. Nice talking to you, and thanks for the opinions on the great state of MI!

Oh, thank god! I was gonna say, wow, man, your own brother? On the other hand, if I died and I had any siblings, and if they were Wings fans, I'd let them off the hook if they had playoffs tickets. Regular season, maybe not.

Tell me about it. I am sick to death of the traffic, the smog, people with bad attitudes (and I swear it's directly related to the traffic...people walk around all day pissed about what happened during their morning drive), and having to drive 30 miles before you finally hit the country - and that's if you're driving east. If you're driving north from San Diego, where I live, you have to drive almost 150 mi to the northernmost part of L.A. before you hit open land (well, not counting the Marine base at the north end of SD county). It sucks.

Yeah, if I was making a long-term commitment to moving there, I'd be a little more worried about how much I'd like the winters, but since it's just a few years, I think I'd get a bang out of it. That sounds like a dream come true for me - skating on a lake, out in nature where it's nice and quiet, and the trees are all blanketed in white...heaven! Cool, I think I'd really like Ann Arbor. It's close enough to Detroit that you can go do big city stuff (like Wings games) without actually having to live in the city. I've had quite enough of big cities, that's for sure. Really? Wow, man, now that is hardcore. Well, I guess if your brother was a Wings fan, too, he'd understand - I know I would! Sorry to hear about that, by the way.

Cool! I failed to mention that I'd be going as a grad student, but I think they do have housing complexes just for them, and I agree, I think it'd be great to live with fellow students and make some hockey buddies. It'd be a lie if I said the thought of being so close to Wings games wasn't at least a part of reason I want to go there, hehe. I mean, of course they have a great program for what I want to do, and it's a great school in general, but then there's just than one little extra factor...

So for those of you who live in Michigan, how do you like it? I mean, obviously Detroit has its problems, but I'd really love to go to U. of Mich. in a year or so, and I hear Ann Arbor is a pretty nice place. What are your general impressions? I've been to a few Midwestern states (NE, SD, IA, KS), and I really liked how nice people were, so that's a big plus for me. I'm a little concerned about the weather, but heck, I think a couple of snowy winters would be a blast - you have no idea how much I'd love to try and play some outdoor hockey, or go snowmobiling, or make snowmen, or whatever. See, while everybody else dreams of palm trees and white sand beaches, us So Cal kids dream about building real snowmen, hehe. So anyway, how do you like it? I wish I had more specific questions, but any general pros or cons you've noticed would be much appreciated.

I have no idea, sorry...I was looking all over the on-screen TV guide yesterday trying to figure out why the Wings game wasn't on, haha, so I'm not exactly clued into the schedule

I hope so, baby. I wonder if Datsyuk still has "I Feel Good" as his ringtone...if not, he should probably think about bringing it back. Nothing like James Brown to get the mojo flowing. Detroit #1 Fan - yeah, wouldn't it be nice if our psychological problems worked both ways? Here's hoping the Yotes are the cockiest bastards of the century.

Yeah, no kidding. And besides scoring more goals, I'd just like to see him help out Datsyuk a little more...Dangle needs a little Snipe Jr. to get the mojo going, and it's not happening.

    Horrible stat facing wings

Well, on the bright side, the 1996-97 team had a pretty horrible stat facing them: the Wings hadn't won a Stanley Cup since 1955. Didn't exactly stop them from doing it anyway, though.

WCQF Game 6 GDT: Coyotes 5 at Red Wings 2

For me there's more than one reason, but that's definitely one of them. Anybody but the Coyotes. Also, I hope the Wings are aware that both Gordie Howe and Brendan Shanahan were at the Joe today. As I see it, Game 7 needs to be a big, butt-kissing apology to both of those guys for how they played today.

Hey, it's my 40th post! In honor of the occasion, I'm calling a you-know-what-that-has-to-do-with-a-certain-type-of-fries from #40 this Tuesday! (Is my ***** mouth shutted enough, or do I need to be more vague?)

What the hell, I'm in. Like titanium said, we did win 2 games without one of these, but whatever the Wings do, at least they won't be able to say they didn't have any support. GO WINGS!!!! ...Dammit!

    Abdelkader appreciation thread

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Gator take Bert's spot in the lineup, either. I'm not even that PO-ed at Bert for not making big hits, but good LORD the man likes to throw away good opportunities. Gator can hit as well as make big plays. I don't mind Lids just playing clean and staying cool, but where's our dang grind line? We need some guys to do the Yzerman thing, but we also need some guys to do the McCarty thing. And I don't know what Franzen's problem is...he started getting ticked and making some hits a couple of games ago but got some bonehead penalties for it, and it's like that disheartened him, so he backed off again. Then there's his lack of scoring, but we're supposed to be talking about Abdelkader here, so I'll shut up.

Red Wings will win game 7

All right, I'll hold you to that guarantee. Go Wings!

WCQF Game 6 GDT: Coyotes 5 at Red Wings 2

Another game where I can't really play the blame game because, with a couple of exceptions, everybody looked like crap. The only good thing is that obviously we're coming off a loss into Game 7 (or else we wouldn't be having one, hur), so we won't be going into it feeling all comfy and cozy; that seems to be one of our downfalls. So far this series, coming off a loss has managed to put a little cayenne in their jock straps for the following game. I have to say, I'm feeling kinda pessimistic at this point...I feel like Game 4 was good, but we got lucky in Game 5, and now Game 6 just really showed where we're at. I just don't know if we have the drive to do it, especially with Doan back in. All I can say is, better to be lucky than good!
