Well, darn it, I can't find a video anywhere, but here's the exact quote: "Well, that's the other thing that's thrown us off - I had no time to go for my playoff haircut before the playoffs started. And I usually go for a Blizzard with the family. I did that last night, so we're all back on track." I'll keep looking for the video, but just imagine him saying it in his usual matter-of-fact "well, we could change some things here, but we're doing this pretty well" type of voice.

I like the finger. Direct and to the point. Somebody flips you off, you flip them off back, you're even, you go on with our lives. No one-upping necessary, and consequently no escalation to violence. Well, usually anyway. I mean, if you start talking, it's all over with. The trick is to keep it nonverbal.

I loved that one the other day on FSD where Mike was joking about getting a haircut and a blizzard...he said it with such a straight face (which is, you know, totally unusual for him) that I was kind of like, "Whaaa?" when he started going into it, but by the end of the story I was cracking up. Good ol' Uncle Mike. Right on, cjm - that is THE "old but great hockey clip"!

Wow, thanks! Good to know! I didn't even think about the C thing...hmm. Yet more decisions, hehe.

All righty, I think I'll go with the Reebok! Thanks, guys! This is my next question, too. I usually like home jerseys better in general, but our away one is pretty much the raddest in the league, so hard choice. For now I'm stuck going to away games, too, so then there's that consideration...although I'd love to go to U. of Michigan for grad school, so there's always the chance that I might be going to home games in the sort of near future (jeez, would that rule or what?!). Decisions, decisions...

I have a complex problem, hehe, but I'm going to try to keep this short. I want an Yzerman jersey, and I don't know if I should get a CCM or Reebok one. Reasons to get CCM: 1. Stevie stopped playing before they switched from CCM to Reebok, so a CCM one would be more authentic. Reasons to get Reebok: 1. Their replica medium is wider, armpit-to-armpit, than CCM's (24 3/4" vs. 23", according to icejerseys.com), and that's kinda the key measurement for me. 2. SportsK.com has Reeboks of all sizes in stock, whereas they only have Yzerman CCMs left in size small. Would anybody notice/care besides me if I got a Reebok one? Now, at this point it seems like the Reebok one is winning, but hold it! One more point to ponder: I have a Shanny CCM sweater that's a youth XL. It works, but it's a little tight. Now, I'm wondering if I took a gamble (which is undoubtedly a bad idea) and got one of the small Yzerman CCM ones SportsK.com has, would it be wider than the youth XL? My experience with band t-shirts tells me that youth sizes are usually cut wider than adult sizes, so even though I'd technically be going up a size to the small, it's possible that the shirttail and sleeves would just be longer and it wouldn't be much wider. Agree/disagree?

Yes! He is such a rad dude. I want one of those hats (no offense to the Padres...I love you guys, too). Yahoo for Stevie pics! He looks like he's about to make somebody an offer they can't refuse, but in a good way. And Jimmah with a faux-hawk...hmm, usually I hate them, mostly because of Mike Green, but it looks kinda good on the Howie-meister.

Which NHLer would you like to punch in the face?

Can I say that you, sir, have the most awesome screen name ever? That is all. -

Pronger, Cooke, yep, those are good choices... I mean, you know, if I were a half a foot taller, 70 lbs. heavier, and a guy, lol. If I somehow magically gained a ton of upper body strength or if he lost it, I bet I could have a halfway fair fight with Sean Avery...I've definitely got a height advantage, haha. I'd rather just have a trash talk fest with Avery though; he seems to be better at that, anyway. I'll do the honors, hillbilly...I have to walk past a cardboard cut-out of that %$#* every time I go ice skating. I'm thinking of switching to the other rink in town, even if it is a longer drive. Hehe, last time we were there, my friend says, "Who is that? He wouldn't be my first choice to put on a big sign, that's for sure..." to which I cheerfully answered, "Yeah, well, he's a jerk, too." Friend: "Well there you go, the outside reflects inside." Aaaand that's why she's my friend. -

Oh yeah, it was LOUD!! You guys did a good job! As for the goal...I really don't know. I don't know if I'm just retarded or what, but after watching it a million times from a million different angles, well, I'll just leave that one to the refs for once because it seemed RIGHT on the edge to me. While I'm here, I'd just like to dedicate this win (as if I had anything to do with it) to my high school speech teacher, who passed away this morning. He was from Detroit and Proud of It, and even though I never knew if he was a hockey fan or not, I figure it is Hockeytown, after all, so this one's for you, Dr. Sheehan. Good guy...I was probably his worst student ever, and he probably hated my guts, but he was still funny as heck, and I enjoyed his class when I didn't have to give a speech. -
Aughh, what's that blinding light?!?! Oh wait, I know! Must be the STFU switch getting turned on! Keep it up, Jimmah. You've got the powah! (lol, jeez, where did that come from?)

Did anyone see that thing where they asked Lidders a bunch of random questions? Dude, I would pay ANYTHING to see him sing "Sweet Home Alabama" at a karaoke bar!! Anyway, I can't say enough about how well everybody played tonight. 100 freaking percent improvement, everybody! And Howard getting a shutout...priceless. -
Well, I may be kind of biased here, but I'm going to agree with Motown - he looked kind of average. I thought he did better than Sunday's game, although on the other hand, so did everybody else, and while everybody else was A LOT better, he just got it back up to more of an acceptable level. I did like that he was getting more physical, although I'd like to see fewer penalties on those hits, ahem. I'd rather he just got back to being a scoring machine, though.

JIMMAH SAVES!!! Great Effing Job, man! I've been on the Howie bandwagon all year, but even I doubted him a little after the last game...not that I voted to start Ozzy, but still, I was kinda in a quandary. Not anymore - boy, do I love getting told! This calls for a banana!
-
Good to hear - sounds like a winner! I do like those WC throwback jerseys...on one hand, I like the simplicity of just having "home" and "away" jerseys, but I wouldn't mind if they used that for a 3rd jersey. Nice talking to you last night, by the way!
-
Aww, great idea, you guys! Wish I could be there to help out, but I'll definitely be yelling it in my living room, like Four, and hopefully it'll send some good vibes to Detroit.
-
Cool! Thanks, guys! Now all I need is the money (story of our lives, right?).
-
While we're on the subject, where do you guys go to buy jerseys besides NHL.com or eBay? I'm trying to save up for an Yzerman one - just a boring old replica one, nothing fancy - and obviously I can't buy it at the official store now, but I hate how sketchy eBay is. Any online stores you'd trust?
-
This might be a bunch of girly psychoanalysis B.S. - I can't decide - but I think what I'd like to see is somebody with lots of heart and charisma who can really get everybody going on days when a dark cloud (or Jobu, or somebody with a voodoo doll, whatever) just seems like it's hanging over them. There are a lot of quiet guys on the team, so maybe they could use that extra boost of energy. Does that sound crazy? And then on the ice, I'd just like this person to play well with others and bring out the best in them. We've got a lot of great players, obviously, but sometimes it seems like they're on an island. I mean, I can't really point to each line and say so-and-so's not doing their job, but I think they could use a bit more general cohesiveness. I dunno.
-
I just want Howard to do better, argh!! Likewise, I want the whole darn team to do better. I might've said go to Osgood if Howard had just absolutely stunk up the joint after Game 1 or maybe even 2, but I feel like it's just too late to try to get Ozzy warmed up at this point after he sat out so long. And I DO think Jimmy's got it in him to do better, but he and everybody else needs to step it up in a big way NOW.
-
I can't not vote for Zets here; that thing is amazing! Pretty soon it's gonna need its own number, just like Homer's ass. I'm rather partial to Franzen's, though, too...it's red, matches the decor!
-
Totally agree! I was kinda grouchy during the first period, but it was all awesome craziness after that. I'm not gonna be able to talk tomorrow.
-
I thought there were a couple of times tonight where he could've tightened it up a little, but overall, I think he's done all right so far, especially considering the wild game tonight! Howie's good to go in my book for the time being. And the time being has been a long time now, so keep it up, my man!
-
LMAO!!! THAT is freaking rad. God, wouldn't it be great if somebody sent him that with a bow tied around it? Well, whaddya know, I was watching the FSD feed tonight, and I was kinda bummed that I was going to miss D-Mac on VS., but I guess I didn't. I hope it's not a big deal...like Zetts said, if it was serious, I doubt they'd joke about it. Maybe he just had to pee really bad right then, lol.
