0-3. We did put one in the net, but it got called back. Y'know, Homer and everything...
-
You mean I'm not watching the Chilean World Juniors team? Huh.
-
Miller had an awesome game last night...I was hoping he'd get a goal after seeing how hard he was working, and whaddya know, he did! Those two goals against the Kings weren't too shabby, either...hope he keeps it up!
-
C'mon, Wings!!! Is Emmerton playing again? I wish they'd give Tatar a shot, but whatever. Just get the W! And don't even think about having lower confidence because of last night - I just saw you beat the heck out of these guys live in November, so just focus on what you did then!
-
I wouldn't judge you. Well, okay, I'd probably judge you for certain jerseys, such as a Hawks sweater with Kane on the back or a Pens one with Crosby. But most of the time, it doesn't bother me. I bought a Lightning hat at the Draft last year because I was excited for Stevie, but I never wear it (partly because of Wings fanaticism, partly because I'm a girl and can't pull off the baseball cap look). Also, I don't have one, but I'd love to get a Tim Thomas t-shirt, and you bet I'd wear it.

If there was a Slavic equivalent to the Norse god Loki, I'd say Pavel channeled him nightly.

It sucked to watch that, but I think we can rebound from it pretty well; that was more of an "off-night" game than a "we've been making the same mistakes for the last 4 games now and still haven't figured it out" kind of game. I'm glad we scored 3 scored goals, anyway...usually our problem with the Preds is that we can't get any offense going. I'm also glad we're not in the position of having to worry about Howard long-term...it's so nice to be pretty sure that he's going to come back extra fired-up in the next game.
-
I'd like for them to have a break, but my sense of pride just can't let it go. Howard's been great this year and at least deserved a nomination, so I want to get him noticed, and Lidstrom is THE All-Star, and if anybody should be there, he should, and then there's Dats who's my favorite player, so I can't not vote for him, and yeah... I'm not that into the ASG, but I guess I just want my guys to win at everything, even if it's just a stupid popularity contest. I mean, we Wings fans already know our team's better than everybody else's, but it's nice to see them get recognized for it and shove it in everybody else's faces (in a tasteful way, of course ).

Sheez, Howie's starting again?! Well, maybe they're playing him now so he can have a rest while Conks starts against the Avs on Sunday, so then Howard will be good to go for the Blues game on Tuesday. I don't know!

Wings to host NHL Winter Classic within next 2 years
MulesWillFly93 replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
BIIIG HOUSE! BIIIG HOUSE! Uh, yeah, I have preferences. Anyway, the saving starts today! I WILL be there, even if "there" is Comerica Park (grumble, grumble). I think the Wild or Avalanche would be the best options, if we HAVE to play an American team. Toronto would be epic, though, if NBC weren't such tight wads (networks gonna network, I guess). -
It's time for the first annual* "That Awkward Moment" game, featuring former Red Wings forward and current Lightning GM Steeeeeeve Yzerman! :applause: Yeah, even though I don't want his team to win tomorrow (although they could use to start picking up after this), I'll never be able to say anything against Stevie. Glad to see him back, even if it's just for a couple days. Anyway, Go Wings! Win one for Patty...poor guy. (*Or whenever Bettman decides to put it on the schedule)

Was that a fun one or what?! Loved every minute of it. Ok, so Kindl spectating on Morrison's goal wasn't so stellar, and I hate to see Miller lose teeth right before Thanksgiving (get that guy a turkey bong!), but other than that, that was exactly what I love about hockey! Glad to see Dats keep on keepin' on, and I love me some Homer, so it was nice to see him get a little confidence back. And then there's Ian White, everybody - mack flippin' daddy! What a relief to have him back.
-
Good to know all the guys are feeling warm and fuzzy! Or, y'know, not crappy, anyway. As Pavs' favorite ring tone would say, I feel good - plus it's the weekend, so let's make all of our fine selves happy and get us 2 points! Whoop some patootie, Wings! (Why is it that every time I try to be enthusiastic, I just sound like I'm on drugs? Oh well...whaddya gonna do?)

If by "hot women" you mean Mario, then you're probably on the right track. I'm willing to bet Jesus was way more of a hit with the ladies than Sid. At least Jesus has that whole "water-into-wine" trick up his sleeve, whereas the only thing Sid's got up his sleeve is a tissue.

What are we watching? Watching him suck? Sorry, I just turned the thread into exactly what you thought it would be, but honestly, I've given up. When's the last time I found myself thinking, "Gee, you know, he might just turn it around and start earning his paycheck"? Not since his paycheck increase, that's for sure. Yeah, he's got a little experience on Kindl and Smith, but I'd gladly take a few rookie mistakes and more cap space over his kind of experience. I'm not saying Ericsson's the only one making us bad; when we're playing badly, the whole team is playing badly. The difference is that players like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, etc. all have the ability to snap out of it. Ericsson does not. Same with our rookies - Smith and Kindl at least have the potential for improvement; Ericsson, frankly, does not. That's the difference, and that's why I tend to focus on the negative more so with Ericsson than with the other players.
-
Of course he's going to score points against good teams - he's a good player, like him or not. It's not about Sid; it's about the media. They're ready to hand the Pens the Cup right here and now based on ONE GAME he played in. Could the Pens win the Cup this year? Sure. But I expect media professionals to make that prediction based on some solid stats collected over a period of time. I do expect the Pens to do well, especially with Crosby back, but I'm not going to declare it the Second Coming and demand that Bettman cancel the playoffs this year and give the Pens the Cup now. based on a game against the Islanders. If that's blind hate, then the blind haters still have a lot more sense left than the hockey media does.
-
I'm pretty sure he also played Keith Stone in the Keystone Light commercials...dude has quite the acting resume! So glad he's back...I thought it would take longer than that to heal (shows what I know), so that's a nice surprise. I like the plan of sending Brunnstrom down and keeping Smith and Commodore up. I definitely want Smith to play more, and while I'm not that stuck on Commie, there's no sense losing anybody to waivers when we don't have to. I wish we could just sit Ericsson, but I know it won't happen.
-
It was effing spectacular to see his stop on Kopitar's penalty shot live and in person! I'm so glad he's having a great season. I just voted for him a zillion times in the write-in spot on the ASG ballot.
-
Do we really have to respect San Jose?
-
Haven't partaken of a GDT in a while, but I definitely won't be here today because I'm going to be AT THE GAME, WOOHOO!!! First time at Staples - let's make it a good one! GO WINGS!!
-
Hahaha, yes! To me it sounds like he's saying Kron(m)-wee-yall, like he started to say Cromwell but then remembered at the last second that there's a "wall" in there somewhere. Maybe he's an English history buff and just can't get it out of his head. I've never paid attention when we've played the Rangers - we could test that by seeing if he says King Henry instead of King Henrik.
-
I agree with everybody - he could probably use some new linemates, but I think he has some work to do to get back to his usual self, too. More shoots would probably be helped along by playing with someone other than Cleary and Homer, but he's going to have to figure out the turnovers by himself. If there's anybody on the team that I know will snap out of it, it's him, so I'm actually not too worried. It's the rest of our forwards that makes me bite my fingernails.
-
Well, they beat us, fair and square. I didn't like a few of the calls on both sides, but it didn't matter because the better team won. They outworked us, they created turnovers left and right, and they punished us every time we went to the boards. Same old story - star forwards are invisible (except for Datsyuk); certain defensemen act like they want to be on the 4th pairing. I wouldn't mind if Cleary got sat for a while...I love the guy, but it's not working for him right now.
-
Wow, he sounds so mellow! Yeah, I guess I sound a little different when I'm not screaming at my TV, too.

For everybody saying Torts has no room to talk, I say it takes one to know one, and Torts knows one when he sees one. (...And that, my friends, is the weirdest way I've ever come up with to defend someone.)
