With Yzerman in Tampa, would he trade with Detroit?
Red Storm replied to Red Storm's topic in General
I see nothing misleading in speculating about such a scenario. Montreal was doing the same thing last year because of Vinny's ties to Quebec. And who knows it might still happen. All I know is Yserman is in Tampa and there not in our division , and as Gm he can wheel and deal with who ever he wants including Detroit. -
He might not be bang on in his formulation but his general thesis is right on. This brand of Wings is getting long in the tooth;along with the calibre of goaltending they'll be no Cup back heref or a very long time.

You see how it is when your creative juices are stokes - amazing ! Amazing insight! -
Now we have a series - Go Flyers.
-
This banter is bogus and inane; that you don't recognize is precisely why it so. I hate this I hate that ...duh duh duh duh...
-
What ignoble fanbase this is becoming.

You shoot off too much ; one thing about the Flyers no one will intimidate them unlike our cast overly finessed players; I'll take an Ian Lapperiere guts and grit over the a Flip type player any day on a team. Until we have more plumbers which mean more Canadians and Americans in the mix were wimpy bunch. And if Chicago wins big F======= tickle their as deserving as any upstart franchise in this Bettman bush league whose won the Cup in the last 20 years. And about Pronger , I use to detest him when he was with the Blues many moons ago against Stevie Y ; but wake up if only we had a mean mother like him with puck sense ; what we would want an Erricson to be - yeah sure you wouldn't cheering and loving that. Oh yeah I would be too!
-
You got that one right - they will bounce back. They can beat the Hawks they just need a couple of bounces to go their way. And again Leino was awesome, showing some good moves and also showing he can take a hard hit.

Does anyone think the Eastern conference can win the Cup?

The way I see it this series will be determined by goaltending; whether Niemi after this layoff looses his game touch is a big factor for Chicago. As far as Leighton, he 's going to have way more to face than what Montreal feeble offence threw at him. Will he be up for it - that's the question ? -
Your completely bang on great analogy- our Luke is gone . I believe it was time for a change, this year showed that we neeeded some form of renewal and transition. Don't say it too loud their might be more than you think dangling the pipe!
-
That's right to much fancy pants finesse and no grind of sandpaper in the corners. This mold has grown old Kenny boy.
-
Hope your right ,but its going to be long while as their about to ink Holland in again. And that's why Stevie Y is gone - what a drag.
-
Flyer all the way, if they could pull it off would be a real major upset all around. Lay the lumber on Byfuglien and paste Kane to the boards as much as possible.
-
Leino and the Underdog Flyers for sure. I don't know if you saw Leighton interviewed after the game a real moment, the guys got heart been on waivers five times; it be nice if he could hold back the Hawks lethal attack.
-
So eleguently put - power to you.

Oh really you know the sordid ownership history of the Wings and the Black Hawks- really don't question anybody's loyalty here until you know the whole story. When did you start following the Wings in the early nineties the days of cream and Yzerman rising to the top. That's still newbie days to me; not your fault it is what it is. But really let people express what they want . Oh wow the Hawks finally win; after franchises like Colorado, Carolina and worse Anaheim; Tampa Bay - have won the Cup and one of the original six like Chicago and their fans haven't had it despite the 3 Halls Makita and 4000 years ;Christ even Orr ended his career their . Man, and your a Wings Fan- phewws don't get it. A Man with his heart in the right place - must be a Patriot. Cmon Doc waiting for you!
-
Yes they are and they serve the Furher Bettman!
-
I second that emotion - GOOOOOOOOOOO FLYERS GOOOOOOOOOOO PRONGER lay the lumber on Byfuglien the Ted Lindsay way - chop the hot dog into pieces.
-
Yeah that pisses me off too; because we should have beat the Sharks and they got pumped up through are anemic goaltending. I'll tell you I feel bad for Nabakov the guys always had a monkey on his back,he did his best. Joe Thornton and Heatley what a disgrace; along with the usual goomer Clowe that showed no grit in this series when against us he couldn't wait to paste us against the boards. As far as Chicago winning the Cup is it really that bad; come on its been what 40 some odd years. I remember when I had to wait 25 yrs. to see my first Cup in Detroit;and by the way I'm going for the Flyers. Hopefully they get rid of Montreal next game; because no matter what they will be the underdogs- especially the way the officiating is going the Chicagoway as it did today.
-
Indeed - Go Leino Go Flyers.
-
Come on Leino is doing good with the change of scenery; but he definitely picked up something whle being part of the Wings. And the Finns well they've shown that they produce good players.
-
I'm glad that he's retiring because he was turning into a has been. That being said, he was tough and dirty and you hated him if you played against him. I remember how in his younger years he was instumental in helping the Canadiens to Stanley Cups. And that goes for us as well. The year we beat Vancouver on our way to the final; I think 2002, he really took on a huge young Todd Bertuzzi and went into the corners with Bert the whole series - that takes guts. I don't think we would have won that cup with out him that year; and for that I'm grateful.
-
Man that would be just what the doctor ordered.
-
I'm definitely with you on that, they've shown a lot of moxie at the end of the season considering all the goaltending problems plaguing them all year. Now in the playoffs a guy like Boucher who was relegated to third string leads them at the end of the year into the playoffs helps beat the Devils ; gets injured in game 6 with Boston in the midst of a shutout; Leighton relieves just back from an injury incurred during the season completes the shutout ; and he helps them win a phenomenal comeback game seven. Plus they got Leino playing some gritty hockey what's there not to like. Go Flyers
