Helpful spelling tip in this sentence. I think most of us knew about this site though. But, thanks anyways.

Predators bench Radulov and A. Kostitsyn for Game 3 of WCSF
Nevermind replied to edicius's topic in General
No, it's not. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are still much better than Radulov. It's just that Nashville doesn't really have any elite forwards so you're comparing in relative terms. Besides, Datsyuk and Zetterberg are just as good, if not better, defensively as they are offensively. Radulov is horrendous in his own end. In the first 2 games of the Phoenix series, he was more of a liability than anything and floated too much for even a preseason game. -
Rooting for New Jersey, Nashville, and Washington to lose
Nevermind replied to Diluvian04's topic in General
Just NJ and Nashville. I have no interest in Semin. After NJ loses (hopefully), we better start a "Sign Parise" fan campaign or something. -
Mine too. So I won't have to hear him on TV anymore.

It's not that he deserves or is going to demand $8M+. Teams are going to offer it to him anyways because there isn't a single other forward on the market anywhere near as good as him. And he's likely just now entering his prime. Besides, he was coming back from a major knee injury this season--so a dip in production was to be expected. He didn't have $8M numbers (how few players do though, really?), but he's a proven elite two-way player in this league who works very hard, is gritty, and embodies a heart-and-soul type of guy. Some team will offer him an exorbitant amount of money. Actually, many teams will offer him ridiculous numbers. Here's just hoping he signs with Detroit for a reasonable cap hit instead. Hell, if necessary, even I'd overpay a little if I was Kenny. EDIT: Since this thread's about Suter...watching the DET-NSH series should be enough to convince many of us how valuable Suter can be to a team.

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against
Nevermind replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Prust-----Konopka-----Eaves -
I don't see how Bergeron's not winning it this year. I'm willing to bet Pavel gets his 6th straight nomination next season. Anyone else ever find it interesting that Zetterberg always gets overlooked for the Selke because of Datsyuk's flashy takeaways? Now, I certainly don't think Hank should have been nominated this year, but I think he should have been a few of the past years. The only year he's been nominated was our Cup year. And I actually think Z is a little more positionally sound, it's just Pavel is better when the play's moving. Either way, to me they're 1A and 1B as defensive forwards on our team.
-
Yeah, it seems teams are much more willing to trade chances now. The refs also don't really put their whistles away anymore like they used to either. I think that will change a little bit in the next rounds as the teams with relatively poor defense and sub-par goaltending will be mostly eliminated.
-
As long as none of the other things happen, I think I'd rather have the divers from Vancouver win the Cup.
-
Ottawa with a 3-2 series lead now.

1) You want Semin on this team? 2) AND you want to pay him $7 million. That lineup is even less gritty than this season's. Those 3rd and 4th lines need to be dramatically restructured. Keep Cleary. His health should be much better next season. And he was one of our better players early on in the series. Worse of all, you don't want Helm back? Why on earth would you want to let Helm go?
-
Here's my offseason plan up front... Fil------------Z--------NyQuist Mule-------Pavel------Parise Cleary-----Helm------Bert Prust-----Konopka----Eaves Holmstrom (this organization won't force him out) Miller, Abdelkader (maybe one or both are expendable depending on Eaves' health and Homer's decision?) Mursak, Emmerton (trade/fight for spot/waiver casualty) The blueline is too muddled at this point. I really don't know which way to lean on Lidstrom's decision. And I highly doubt we have a realistic chance of signing Suter. ?-White Kronwall- Smith-Ericsson Quincey (probably coming back; wasn't that impressive, but we gave up a 1st for him and he's still young) Kindl (another year of 7th D-man or trade bait?) And who's back-up? Howard ?
-
There should be a 3rd option: It all depends on what Nick does. On a related note, here's what I posted in another thread...
-
I honestly don't get why Abdelkader isn't more physical. You would think he'd at least try and throw his weight around. That could have gotten us some momentum. Miller's good penalty killer and all, but he's soft as hell. He doesn't crash and bang either. And Emmerton's useless. These aren't the type of 3rd and 4th liners on Cup-winning teams. Side note: John Keating just asked Holmstrom about retirement, and Homer replied angrily "You gotta be kidding, right?". Then he stormed off. Keating's such an idiot for asking it right after elimination. He's not going to get the same polite Nick Lidstrom responses from everyone.

Actually no. I remember we lost on May Day that year. The season was longer because of the Olympics.

I would hope so. Unfortunately, it's probably more telling of a horribly generic prom though.

I don't care who scores for the Wings. I just want us to win. But, I kind of hope this doesn't earn Huds another contract with the Wings.

Hey everyone, If anyone finds an online stream of the FSD broadcast, could you please link it here? Sorry about not posting this in the GDT. But, I thought it might help other out-of-market fans too if it had its own topic. Having the option, I think we'd all much rather listen to Ken and Mickey. Thanks.

Full article Now, I've only watched the game once, but I'm pretty sure a lot of our shots were indeed from the perimeter. And as far I'm concerned, we did have an incredibly tough time getting to the middle of the ice. Is anyone else puzzled by why Babcock can't see this? Or isn't willing to admit it? I'm no coach, but getting to the inside would be one of my main areas of concern for Game 5.

The Detroit Red Wings aren't ever going to let Nick walk. I really hope Nick comes back and is able to regain his early-season form. He's earned the right to keep his salary if he wants to play another season. But, I think he definitely has to understand that a sizeable paycut would really help the team out--and give him the best chance for a Cup.

Doing just one of the things you said would be a drastic move for Kenny Holland, it seems.

A lot of teams want Parise and Suter, unfortunately. Parise did say his favorite player to watch is Datsyuk, though. Maybe there's a little hope with him.
