That's a very, very good trade for Toronto (for once). Especially if Lombardi's healthy next season. They basically dump Lebda and get a huge upgrade in Franson. Nashville simply got robbed here. Were they too cheap to pay Lombardi on IR or what? And in return, the Preds got Slaney, who looks like he might be a career minor-leaguer. Doesn't make any sense. If good trade are this easy, Kenny should give Poile a call.

2 years, $7 million total. That's a low caphit. Even with the extra year and his injuries troubles, I'd match that offer in a heartbeat.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

There's Rafalski's replacement. -
He's only 31. What's the huge downside to a one-year deal when we have a ton of cap space this year? Even when he's in the lineup, he's been fighting injuries the past few seasons. We can afford to take the chance that he's healthier now. The latest concussion scares me, but I've heard it's nowhere near as severe as the last one. With good health, there's no doubt he's at least a 20-25 goal scorer. If he gets nowhere near that much on the open market, then why not sign him? Lower salary means low risk/high reward. I've only ever seen you deride other people's 'out there' suggestions. Why don't you play GM for us once?

I'm better at moving the puck than Ericsson too.
-
$4-4.5M is most reasonable for sure. But... Ericsson is worth $3.25M I think we'd have to overpay because other teams inflate the price we'd only offer a 1-year deal I don't mind spending a little more this year when we still have plenty of $ for another defenseman (assuming we trade Hudler) You don't have to get down to 23 players until the season starts. We'd have to eventually trade/waive a forward though obviously. (Losing Hudler. Duh.)
-
No problem. I didn't mean to sound harsh to you. It was really my frustration with the Wings' situation. Anyways, I'm sorry too.
-
I knew it wasn't us. But, with the Ericsson deal and all, you ******* scared me by not naming the signing team in the thread title.
-
Guess he really wanted a Cup? I'm happy he isn't here though.
-
How do you think Jimmy Howard feels? Just a few months ago he signed for 2 years at $2.25M per. Now, Ericsson's making $1M more than him for the next couple seasons. That can't be right.

To Whom Too Much Is Given… Much Is Wasted!!!!

I think I almost prefer this... Lidstrom-Smith Kronwall-Stuart Kindl-Janik

I think everyone just wants you to admit that Holland failed big time today. You can't excuse it based on his great track record.
-
Yeah, I agree that it is REALLY overreacting to want to fire Holland after one bad move. He's been the best GM for a while now--especially since he doesn't do stupid things. However, this one move was extremely stupid. Call a spade a spade and admit this was a stupid, stupid signing. Constantly praising Holland and belittling those criticizing him doesn't make you more of a fan. People have the right to be upset with something like this. They're upset because they care. Obviously, as a result, they're going to make those over-dramatic statements you incessantly gripe about. I'm truly worried that this signing could set an extremely bad precedent. How much are Kronwall and Stuart going to want? Surely, they'll want at minimum $5-5.5M now. It's tough to justify them taking much less when ******* Ericsson is making $3.25M.
-
Remember when everyone made fun of Jeff Finger's contract? I guess Eaves is signing for over $4M now.

Just crap. And we have money too.

Tomas Jurco

Even NHL 11 punishes you for that. EDIT: 24 for 35 and 48.

Coyle is much more untested. And probably not as good a prospect as Smith. If they're set on trading for a scorer though, then you're right. We have nothing to trade. I just think Minnesota could have gotten a better deal elsewhere. At least a deal with a better centerpiece coming back than Setoguchi.
-
Maybe I just wouldn't trade Burns for a player of Setoguchi's ilk. You know diving and all. He's a second-liner at best. IMO, Minnesota should have tried for Ryane Clowe instead of Setoguchi. Better character and overall impact. If I was Kenny I would offer: Hudler................<Setoguchi Smith.................>=Charlie Coyle Our 1st...............>SJ first You'll probably argue Hudler has much lower trade value than Setoguchi, which is true. But, I think overall, it's not an insulting offer relatively. And I think Filppula's better than Setoguchi. But, I wouldn't swap him for Hudler.
-
I think we still could have figured something out. Burns would have been great for us.
-
My bad. I looked too! And I still missed it. I'm sure someone will merge them.
-
Giroux Briere That's a pretty good 1-2 punch. Maybe Carter and Richard's off-ice issues really are that bad? And that's why Holmgren traded them. Regardless, he could've probably gotten a better return if he had some patience. And Bryzgalov's contract is just ridiculous.
-
The Flames are asking Regehr to waive his NMC so that he can be traded to Buffalo. Let's say he doesn't want to go to Buffalo. Would any of you be interested in us making an offer to Calgary for him? He's a pure shutdown/stay-at-home defenseman, so I think we'd still have to shop around for an offensive, puck-moving defenseman. I've always liked the way he plays. He'd certainly make our blueline more rugged, but less skilled. His cap hit is a hair over $4M for two more years though. Thoughts? Link

I think he's head and shoulders above any UFA. So will Minnesota want to trade him? And what's the price? I don't think that's what he meant at all.
