Hey everyone, I was wondering if any of you guys have participated in or were familiar with the Wings' internships through Olympia Entertainment? I'm in college right now and thought I'd send in a resume. I never realized the Wings offered anything like this--it sure beats the hell out of interning for the position of 'corporate drone' at some sleazy investment bank or something. Here's the link (Imagine if working for 'operations' helps you advise the front office on player signings and stuff ) Oh, and sorry if I shouldn't post stuff like this in the general discussion area. Thanks.

That actually did cross my mind right before I posted. But, I go to a pretty snobbish, cutthroat college where a lot of people think exactly like that. So if I didn't go ahead and post anyways, I guess I would feel too much like them.

Hopefully the middle name's 'Mule' at least. Anyways, congrats to the Franzen family!

Good deal. Not too much, but enough to keep Howard happy. Howard can just focus on hockey now. Maybe that will help out his consistency?
-
No, I think you're absolutely right.
-
Were they paying for him by the pound or what?
-
Not quite. Hudler needs to replace that Lidstrom guy. Otherwise the team's a bit lackluster defensively. Hell, even Kopecky would be better than Lidstrom.

I think I remember Scotty Bowman saying that your power play and penalty kill rankings should add up to less than 10. Either way, any team needs to play well 5 on 5 and just find ways to win. Unless you don't have an enforcer of course--then you do need a good powerplay.

You realize that, for the most part, Stuart's been extremely solid for us in the last few playoffs? Sure, Meszaros is younger--but the times I've seen him play, he looks unsure and prone to mistakes (and please, don't bring up Stuart's Game 7 vs Pittsburgh; that was one game). Why trade a proven guy who works in our system for one who's severely overpaid for 3 more years. Besides, Philly and Detroit are doing too well to make a shake-up trade like this. Also, Stuart might be injured past the deadline. It only took a second round pick to convince Yzerman to dump his bloated salary. If we're going to give up a veteran player like Stuart, a 2nd and a good prospect, it should at least be for a better player.

Maybe the Avs want Matt Duchene to learn diving from the guy who pioneered the very practice?

Did you know that Datsyuk is an enforcer?

Hudler is not a center in the NHL. It doesn't matter if he played center in Europe for his junior team or whatever. He lacks the speed, defensive conscious and more than likely the faceoff ability to ever play center in the show. And since Franzen started scoring goals, he's far better at wing. Losing Filppula for a goalie forces us to keep Pavel and Z on separate lines. Though Fil's offensive consistency is frustrating, he's extremely solid defensively and has a lot of speed through the middle. We simply don't have another player who can adequately pivot the second line. In a cap world, Filppula's a very good second line center. Hopefully he hasn't reach his offensive ceiling quite yet.

If Nabokov ends up on waivers again, I honestly think there's a decent chance he'll end up in Detroit. After the situation with the Islanders, I don't think other teams would want to deal with the possible headache of claiming him.

I guess he thinks pretty quickly off the ice too.

Welcome to the NHL.

Is that their engagement photo? I wonder how jealous this makes Gary feel.

Learn to watch hockey and comprehend. Stats are useless 87% of the time (). Congratulations on failing. I guess we should evaluate each player by extrapolating their best game to their entire career. And there's more to hockey than points BTW.

What an absurd idea. Colin Campbell's laughing right now. He should at least be warned not to do it again. As many others have said, it's completely unprofessional. If a ref makes an obscene gesture and mocks a fan, it makes the ref seem biased and lowers his credibility. Not that many NHL refs have any credibility in the first place.

Congrats Ozzie! What an outstanding game he played to get 400. Up next, passing his idol Grant Fuhr.

Thanks:)

Anyone have a stream? Thanks

Eaves!!!!!!!!!

RIP Probie

He's making $3M+ per playoff win. Compare that to our goalies the past 3 years. Combined, Ozzie and Howard have made roughly $96,000 per playoff win.

This article came out a few minutes ago. Looks like we're making a pretty big push. Link
